So Now Time Tells Us: Obama The New FDR

Remember back during the campaign, when the Obama folks and their MSM cohorts adamantly denied that their man was a liberal?  That National Journal study that ranked him the most liberal senator?  Nonsense! Very misleading.  After all, this is the man who doesn't believe in a red America and a blue America, but in the United States of America. Someone with a history of reaching across partisan lines [even if no good examples were handy at the moment].

So . . . remember all that? Well, forget it.  Now that Obama is safely
ensconced in his Office of the President-Elect, the MSM can let the
[ill-concealed to many of us] cat out of the bag: yes, he's a liberal. Big time!  In fact, Obama is nothing less than the second coming of the biggest American liberal icon of all time: FDR!  Rick Stengel announced the news on today's Morning Joe.

The Time editor proudly unveiled the magazine's new cover, which portrays a photo-shopped Obama from that iconic photo of a jaunty FDR in his convertible, hand on the wheel and cigarette holder in place. With "Happy Days Are Here Again" playing merrily in the background, Stengel discussed the cover story, entitled "The New New Deal."

RICK STENGEL: It's the New New Deal, and it's Barack Obama as FDR, obviously. And it's about how he could forge a Democratic majority, a liberal majority, not unlike what FDR did.

Stengel went on to say that if Obama plays his cards right, he can build a liberal power structure that will rule for as long as did FDR's. Thanks for letting the American public know now, Rick!

.........and obama hasn't

.........and obama hasn't even been through his inaugural address.

Got to love the Time mag, bless their heart. <sarc>

Between Warner studio (hollywood) and their holographic staff at cnn, this bunch really can spread the crap around.

Basically one liberal conglomeration.

Obama as FDR? He's more like Jimmy Carter!

Oh, spare me!  Barack Obama is NOT FDR, he's Jimmy Carter with bigger ears!  Or...

"...an overbearing, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood!"

-Star Trek, "The Trouble with Tribbles"

Happy Days

Yes, and Nero fiddled as Rome burned.

Economic rodeo

"Liberalism was about trying to regulate the system... If Barack Obama can help restore the economy, if he can regulate the system, if he can bring order back ..."

This is the hubris that we thought we'd overcome. It's a fool's errand to think that you are smart enough to tweak or steer the economy. The economy is just too damned big and complicated for that.

Instead, the only way to "manage" an economy is to slow it down. You can only manage so much, and so you slow the economy down to the level where you can manage it. But the American economy is far too powerful for government to manage it at top speed. The tradeoff in management is growth. You kill the economy in the process.

They're going to manage it by making it stop. Disaster.

Her Royal Clintoness also

Her Royal Clintoness also promised that she would "manage" the economy.  They think they are all-powerful, and they have never heard of the  Law of Unintended Consequences.

Pedals beneath the desk

LOL! Forgot about that ...

I remember when Bill Clinton was mired in the Lewinsky mess. Hillary's defense was that if the press demanded honesty from Bill, it would "distract" him from "running the country."

It was as if she pictured America as children in the backseat of the stationwagon, and she (Mom) was trying to get the kids to behave so as not to distract Dad while driving.

Apparently the desk in the Oval Office has pedals underneath it so the president can "drive" the country.

It's scary to dwell on what these things say about Obama and Hillary.

Remember

motherbelt mentioned "Law of Unintended Consequences".

I kind of wonder if the Dems are now going to be suprised. Who knows what the future holds? ;)

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” ~ Winston Churchill

You Wonder?

I don't.  I would be willing to bet big money that Barry Soetero will turn out to be a bigger leftist and more destructive marxist than anyone can imagine.  We know for a fact that no one in the DNC vetted him on anything prior to his running for office, including his actual state of citizenship. We know for a fact that no one in the DNC has a real sense of what kind of laws and programs he intends to put forward other than the already announced horrid ones that have pushed the stock market into a nosedive (and now that he's resigning from the senate, who knows what horrors he'll dream up during the transition process).  We know for a fact that Barry knows less about running the country than Katie Couric knows about raising ratings (and man, that's a low standard).  We know for a fact Barry knows absolutely nothing about diplomacy, proper interactions with heads of state (he's already pissed off Poland--smart move, assbag), or even how many states are in the U.S.  When that 3 AM phone call comes in, what's Barry going to do--summon his teleprompter to answer it?

Seriously, even the Dems were ready to kick Carter to the curb in 1980.  The Dems had as big a case of Clinton fatigue as anyone, and had no great desire for Gore to win, but they didn't want a Bush win either, which was the only reason they fought as hard as they did against him.  Now, they've got their fantasy world president, Indonesian citizen Barry Soetero, and Dems think that this time it'll all be different.

It'll be different, all right, once those MSM libtards are frogmarched off to an Obama "work center".  Free press is always the first thing to go when Marxists take over.

They see nothing unusual in

They see nothing unusual in characterizing him as both FDR and Reagan.  And throwing in JFK and Lincoln isn't out of bounds either.

Let's face it...take the very best quality of every President  we've ever had, and they are all rolled up in "The One."  Maybe that's why he's "The One."

Oh, and don't forget he's also McDreamy and McSteamy!!!(h/t Grey's Anatomy...I have to start crediting that; don't want to pull a Biden).

If it is FDR We Are In Deep Trouble

"It's the New New Deal, and it's Barack Obama as FDR"

While Hoover for a brief time deepened the recession coming out of the Stock Market Crash, it was FDR that delivered us into The Great Depression.

The New Deal was nothing more than massive and at times reckless government intervention that ended up driving the economy south and into not just double digit unemployment but years of sustained 20%+ unemployment. The thinkers behind The New Deal derived most of their ideas from Stalin's USSR and tried to apply it here.

Just prior to our entry into World War II Americans were believing that after many years of depression that our economy would never recover.

It was World War II that was the only reason that led to economic recovery.

Many of the tactics being taken by government now and being proposed by the socialist Democrats are frighteningly remniscent of thos failed New Deal policies.

Stengel and his staff should consider going back to their own library and doing some research instead of continuing this myth about FDR and The New Deal.

second dictator

Does this mean Obama will be president for life like FDR was? I have always thought of FDR as USA's only dictator.

They were both

They were both handicapped.

One physically and one morally

Yep, just the same.

Semper Fi

"The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in time
of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.

And why is that a good thing?

I think FDR was a nobel man but who wants a New Deal II.

I wonder if Time would include the new study performed by UCLA that shows that FDR's policies extended the Great Depression by seven years....!

TIME's kidding right.

TIME's kidding right.  Barry's social ideas are to the left of FDR, and at least FDR was itching to open up a can of Woop Ass on the Nazi's. At least FDR wanted to defeat America's enemies, not apologize to them and worry about their comfort in prison camps.

And Joe Scarborough acted as

And Joe Scarborough acted as if he was just as delighted about this. Sometimes, I just don't understand what he's thinking...

Marpel, I know what you

Marpel, I know what you mean, but I don't think it by any means means [oh my gosh, have you ever seen a sentence with consecutive "means" that wasn't a mistake?] that Joe was approving the idea.  I mean, he might have agreed that Obama is in the liberal FDR tradition, but I am certain he doesn't welcome a return to the New Deal.  I almost got the sense Joe was sitting back and letting Stengel dig his own grave.

 *opens mouth* uhhhh....

uhhhh....

could this magazine just go out of business already!  History and economics lessons for everyone!

Wow, looks like Barry won't have to quit smoking now!

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

Oh wonderful,

Oh wonderful, wonderful...as Stengel says...if he (O) can regulate the system....the leftists will have control for a long time...(paraphrasing)

As Mika said (talking about the cover) but still we know she agrees with all of this....I looove it!

Fasten your seat-belts...it's going to be a bumpy ride....

Btw...the cover makes me ill, but then again so does Time Rag, always has, always will...even more so the last two years.
