There really are no words, though I suppose we'll manage to find some. Wonkette, which bills itself as "the DC Gossip," and is the creation of Ana Marie Cox, now gone on to bigger things at Time, has this photograph up of Trig Palin, dressed for Halloween as an elephant and being held in the loving embrace of one of his sisters. [H/t Damian at Conservathink.]
Wonkette appends its comment, suggesting—and there really is no way to sugar coat it—that given the choice Trig would rather have been aborted:
Little baby Trig must be so glad he wasn’t aborted for this, his first Halloween, because his parents dressed him up like a political party symbol to be carried around at snarling political events. Aww. Isn’t life just grand?
There might be ways Wonkette could sink lower, but none come to mind at the moment.

Liberal "caring" on display
November 1, 2008 - 07:17 ET by Indiana JoeY'know, it's really become apparent that the whole Democrat party is built on lies. They're not "tolerant," they're not "caring," they're not "diverse," and they're certainly not "tolerant."
What they ARE is "divisive," and "mean-spirited," and "heartless," and "bigoted," and "hateful."
Hmm, where have I heard those descriptions before?
The only good thing coming out of all this is that the masks are off, and the American people now clearly see them as what they truly are: power-hungry spoiled sore losers.

THe key thing to understand about liberals like Anna Marie Cox is that they desire to live lives of no consequense.
THey want no repercussions for their behavior and wish to abuse those who state openly and honsetly that there must be such.
Want to have lots of risky sex? A conservative will see that there are repercussions that will cause them to forego it. A liberal will simply seek a quick abortion and federal funding for the myriad of diseases they have given themselves with their bad actions.

November 1, 2008 - 08:19 ET by GeneralAlCome one Mark! You must have made this up! Everybody on the left loves and cares for all people! This must have been an act of subversion by some conservative to make the writer look bad. No one on the left would ever write something like this. They are such caring and loving people! Now that I've puked up my coffee trying to be sarcastic, I'll cut loose!
I have a son who is autistic. Throughout his life I've seen this attitude displayed in public by the so-called "enlightened" crowd. We've been in restaurants where people have asked to be move so as to "Not have to look at that"! We've had people literally stare a hole into my son with their glares! He is quite aware of it, too! One women stared so long, that I got up from my seat and took her a picture of him! Here, I said, stare at this for awhile. Her husband tried to crawl under the table. Almost always, these people are found to be liberal Democrats.
In Illinois, the land that is "Shrinkin' from Lincoln" and "Leanin' to Lenin", the first buget cuts are always regarding special needs people. It amazes me how, in this state, I have to pay for school lunches for the children of ILLEGAL WET BACKS but I can't get one single penny when it comes to my own flesh and blood!
These people would have Trig and my son eliminated if they were in power. They would see them as a drag on the economy! They would institute "euthanisia" meaning selected murder on special needs and and ailing adult persons. I believe the Obamassiah would bless this action! These people have to be stopped at all cost! We've got to fight to the finish!
Thank God for NB and all the others who have stood up to these Communist radical punks!

I dated a girl in high school that has a sister with Down's Syndrome. The entire family was as down-to-earth as you could be--very friendly and very accomodating. Their Down's Syndrome sister/daughter was especially so. Every time I would visit, she would brighten up my day no matter what kind of mood I was in. I'm sure glad she wasn't aborted. Just like everyone, she has a purpose in this world.

While Obama lied Babies died in excruciating pain
November 1, 2008 - 09:00 ET by Retired GeekBabies Crying in Terror
The 'Born Alive' baby who has known the closest contact with another human any human can experience - the baby has been inside another human for months.
The baby has kicked, stretched and some even suck their thumbs. Every need has been met by its human host - shelter, nourishment and safety.
Suddenly one day the baby is attacked with chemicals and poisons.
The baby enters a world bent on death and destruction towards its life.
The baby has never seen a butterfly, puppy, pretty colors or things all babies enjoy or had any human say I love you.
The baby enters the world in excruciating pain and the best trained Medical experts in the world refuse the baby any aid - in a hospital - where all facilities are available and the Doctors have sworn to protect all human life - except his.
The baby is thrown on a cold table and left to die in some hidden place.
The baby struggles to breathe because a human is born with the human will to survive. The baby cries in terror and sobs for help - that never comes - no one cares.
The innocent baby tries to live with every breath and dies alone, abandoned like a used kleenex, never having experienced anything but pain, rejection and hatred.
When the baby finally dies a death of torture and the ultimate rejection any human can receive, it is such a worthless human it doesn't even have a 'Death Certificate' issued that it ever existed.
For a few minutes, hours or days, that baby WAS an American Citizen, that should have received all of the 'Rights and Protections' under law, that any other American Citizen should have.
Michelle and Barack Obama and most Democrats, have done everything humanly possible, to make sure this baby does NOT even receive any pain medication.
Yeah, that's totally not
November 1, 2008 - 09:23 ET by MazziYeah, that's totally not right. I don't like abortion but it's not because of religious reasons. That said, I really don't have much problem if other women choose to do it. It's not my business. My main argument is that God will accept the baby back into heaven, or whatever. He's not going to punish the baby's soul, right?
But I draw the line at aborting viable fetuses for any reason. At 3 months, the fetus dies quickly, and if there is any pain, it's over fast. But after that it should be criminal. And once it's born viable? That is murder, and there is no other way to spin it.
If these immoral libs have their way, physicians will not be permitted to refuse to perform an abortion for any reason, ethical or religious included. What kind of "pro choice" is that?

November 1, 2008 - 09:38 ET by ShanghaiRayI view myself as a pretty normal and somewhat tough guy but what you wrote brought tears to my eyes and a sharp pain to my heart....that's just unbelievably horrible and sadly, very sady 100% true.
And Yet...
November 1, 2008 - 10:28 ET by cayenne523We the American people allow babies to be slaughtered. We the American people have not found it within ourselves to organize and remove from office those who support murder. If it is the woman right to choose then the choice given her should be killing herself or choosing to live and birth the baby. The argument the murders always fall back on is rape and incest. Have the baby and turn it over for adoption. The government has programs for those who will not work but for some reason the government has no program for unwanted babies? Make rape a Capital Offense . Put to death those convicted of rape. When will this nation be lead by citizens with honor? We need a new party in government. The American Conservative Party. Rid the system of Republicans. Build a new and truely conservative party.
The Subtle Issue
November 6, 2008 - 09:06 ET by JillCWThe reason we abort so many babies in this country is our concession to the New World Order folks that we would have social engineering/population control in the US. That population control under the "O" will soon extend, as it does in Europe, to senior citizens. In Europe, they murder seniors who are seriously ill or who have Alzheimers. Nice folks.
The world has become a Nazi/Dr. Mengele sewage site. Soon it will be patriotic (per Biden?) for seniors to willingly die for the economic good of their country. Sheesh, the Bible didn't lie when it said in 2Timothy 3 that "know that these are perilous times."
According to some evangelists, homosexuality curses the cities and abortion (the slaughter of the innocents) curses the land. I guess we see how true that is. Look at our cities. They are crime-laden bastions of psycho-sickness. Look at our land which is slowly being bought up by foreigners, controlled by the UNgodly, and note that we can't even harvest our own natural resources (coal being the newest target). Our family farms are now owned by agribusinesses (New World Order style).
Don't you get it? He who controls the land, the fuel, etc., controls the world. Add in Satanic-type religions, and a strong UN military, and we're toast.

November 1, 2008 - 11:03 ET by Dan LaHooda ride to the "hospital".
Before Pope Benedict came to America to celebrate Mass in New York and
Washington, it was revealed that as a young boy in Germany he had had a cousin
with Down Syndrome. One day a Nazi doctor came and claimed his cousin for the
Third Reich. Taken to be “cared for” at the “hospital” young Joseph Ratzinger
never saw his cousin again: one of the host of “useless eaters” marked for
extermination by that brutal regime.
My wife and I operate St. Joseph’s House, a daycare and
respite care home for handicapped children. As it happened one of the children
we care for, a wheelchair bound young lady, was chosen along with three other
handicapped folks to carry the gifts up to the altar before the consecration at
the Mass at Nationals Stadium in Washington D.C. on April 17, 2008. One of these
was James, a 30ish man who works in the Officer’s Club at Andrews AFB. James
has Down Syndrome. He was chosen to carry the large host which would become the
Body of Christ lifted up before the assembled. As James with great ceremony
advanced toward the Pope, his native enthusiasm overcame his reserve and he
started to run. Simultaneously the Holy Father leapt from his chair and walked
towards James with his arms outstretched. We have a picture of this moment
which I cannot look at without tearing up. What did he see as he gazed so
lovingly at James? I believe he saw his cousin. I believe he saw the face of
Jesus. And I believe that his great prayer as he elevated that host on that
impossibly beautiful day was “As long as you did to these the least of my
brethren, you did it to Me.”
The next day April 18th, a boy was born to of
all people, the Governor of Alaska. They named him Trig.
Anyone who has ever heard Santayana's famous quote about History repeating itself is condemned to repeat it.

Evidently, Wonkette momentarily forgot that storks magically create human beings and drop off those human beings at hospital maternity wards.

November 1, 2008 - 20:56 ET by EverythingIsntPartisanThere too many utterly ridiculous things going on in this thread to calculate, but here we go:
1. Wonkette is a comedy site, and you're taking it seriously
2. You claim Wonkette is "hateful," yet the comments here are incredibly hateful. They should be shot and they have no souls and they aren't human? Um, okay.
3. The way you categorize all liberals as "pro-abortion" is as fascinating as it is astonishing.
4. What is all this dwelling on the lady who started Wonkette? Is she important in the wingnut world for some reason? Is she supposed to elicit a knee-jerk anger bear response?
5. Honestly, you can read the comments in the Wonkette and be horrified? Really? Good Lord. I don't know how anyone could take them seriously.
But I'm not really surprised you guys don't get it. Your idea of humor is Newsbusted, of which the funniest thing is the usage of a laugh track. What is this, the 50's?
I'm sure there are some forms of comedy we can agree on, but your wingnut-based minds prevent you from enjoying a lot of other forms. Namely, anything that involves irony, satire and sarcasm. I'm sure when you read "An Indecent Proposal" in high school, you were outraged as well.
And before you throw an idiotic label on me, I enjoy when liberals get skewered on The Onion and on shows like South Park and The Daily Show (see their coverage of Barack's speech at the DNC convention, in particular). However, your idea of comedy - namely, An American Carol, Newsbusted and The Half Hour Comedy Hour - is really, really lame. So who are you of all people to judge Wonkette?

welcome to NB everything
November 1, 2008 - 21:08 ET by candanceA member for three years and this is your first post? Sounds like someone got booted and had to go to Plan B.
There's nothing, I repeat nothing funny about abortion. Criticize Newbusted if you like, but no self-respecting "comedy" site would joke about something like that. And just because someone says "I'm joking" doesn't mean it can't hurt someone's feelings.
You claim Wonkette is "hateful," yet the comments here are incredibly hateful.
While I won't get into the business of defending every comment here, there is a big difference between member comments and an official blog post. But aside from that, yes, if you think it's funny to joke about abortion then I wonder what's wrong with you.
The way you categorize all liberals as "pro-abortion" is as fascinating as it is astonishing.
It's very simple: you take a stand against murder or you call it a right. Some things are black and white.
What is all this dwelling on the lady who started Wonkette?
If a brainchild of mine ended up doing that, I'd be pretty ashamed of it, and she should be too.
Honestly, you can read the comments in the Wonkette and be horrified?
Coming from someone who thinks abortion makes good comedy, I'll take this with a grain of salt.
But I'm not really surprised you guys don't get it.
Of course. You think abortion is funny, we don't. That's a pretty big hurdle that will never be overcome.
And before you throw an idiotic label on me, I enjoy when liberals get skewered
OMG! Jon Stewart said Obama was...wait for it...too hopeful!! ROFPMSL!!!!

That was all it took for me, plus a quick peak at EIP's track.
I see nothing comedic about murdering a child, unborn or otherwise.
My tolerance for people of his/her/its ilk is pretty much gone now, given the stakes on the line this coming Tuesday.

November 1, 2008 - 22:18 ET by RESTLESS 1It seems as though every troll coming through here lately has to cut their teeth with some stupid post, thinking nobody here has heard it before. There was some moron, I'm pretty sure it was Josh, bringing up James Hanson and the AGW debate. More asses have been kicked aroung here on that subject than I care to count. But they all think they are the first to make an argument, when we've heard it all before. It gets very irritating debunking the same arguments over and over.

Linking is pretty easy. Simply "copy" the url address of the web page you want to link to, and in the "reply" or "post comment" page, you highlight text from you comment, which will activate the Hyperlink button on the bottom of the comment box,,(it looks like a sideways "8"), and when you click on the hyperlink, a box will come up where you can "paste" the url into the insert link line. You can also choose to have the link open in a new window. The hyperlink box is pretty self-explanatory.

Will Obama Close Catholic Hospitals [and Pharmacies]?
by John Vennari
Published in the Philadephia daily Bulletin, Oct. 31, 2008
On Oct. 7, 2007, Sen. Barack Obama spoke to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and promised, "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'll do."
What is the Freedom of Choice Act? It is the most sweeping pro-abortion legislation ever proposed in the United States.
In a letter dated Sept. 19 to members of Congress, Philadelphia's Justin Cardinal Rigali rightly warned:
"Despite its deceptive title, FOCA would deprive the American people in all 50 states of the freedom they now have to enact modest restraints and regulations on the abortion industry. FOCA would coerce all Americans into subsidizing and promoting abortion with their tax dollars. And FOCA would counteract any and all sincere efforts by government to reduce abortions in our country.
"The operative language of FOCA is twofold. First it creates a 'fundamental right' to abortion throughout the nine months of pregnancy, including a right to abort a fully developed child in the final weeks for undefined "health" reasons. No government body at any level would be able to "deny or interfere with" this newly created federal right. Second, it forbids government at all levels to "discriminate" against the exercise of this right "in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information." For the first time, abortion on demand would be a national entitlement that government must condone and promote in all public programs affecting pregnant women," said the cardinal.
It is clear the FOCA raises abortion to what it calls a "fundamental right." Yet it is not clear if Catholics realize the threat that Mr. Obama poses to the unborn, to believing Catholics in the medical profession, and to Catholic hospitals across the nation.
Michael Moses, legal analyst of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops called it a "radical measure" that will "go way beyond Roe [vs. Wade]." The language is so sweeping that it will wipe out any state's "conscience" clause, which is the law that allows hospitals, doctors and nurses to abstain from taking part in abortion for reasons of conscience. If abortion is a "fundamental right", according to FOCA, then every hospital must provide it.
The net result, as one writer noted, is "President Obama and his congressional supermajority would force every Christian hospital, doctor or nurse to abandon their faith or go out of business." Under FOCA, believing Christians could be banned from the hospital industry (and apostolate) by federal law. CFN Addendum to Bulletin article:This aspect of Obama's candidacy has been eclipsed by endless talk about the economy. It is tragic that our own Catholic clergy have not effectively warned the people under their charge of this danger. This could be remedied if every priest in every diocese in the country would inform their congregations this Sunday of the grave threat to the lives of the unborn, and to the continuance of Catholic hospitals, that an Obama presidency poses.
Please forward to those who need to know this. Also on line at: www.cfnews.org/ObamaCloseCatholicHospitals.htm

I once was pro "choice"
November 2, 2008 - 01:22 ET by dark_dsI once was pro "choice" but a cathartic thought came to me while I was cruelty investigator with the Humane Society 20 years ago ... at that time I was still a total lefty ...but while out investigating some cruelty cases ... which were quite often tough things to witness ..I thought to myself here I am deeply concerned about what is happening to these animals but I was giving no thought to what was actually happening to humans that were being aborted .. I realized that was the deepest of hypocrocies and I changed my world view about abortion
dark
November 2, 2008 - 03:19 ET by RESTLESS 1While I still view abortion as a "state's rights" issue, since I've had children of my own, (well my wife did the hard work), I see it more personally than before. I have always argued it from a Constitutional POV, and that would at least curb the trend some, but I believe it unconscienable for anyone to agree to late term abortions. Always have. That obama could vote against the "born alive" bill...well, I will NEVER put my trust anyone that could vote that way, or support someone that would.

Yes, from a legal,
November 2, 2008 - 11:49 ET by lotrYes, from a legal, Constitutional POV the legality of abortion needs to be returned to the states, unless a Constitutional amendment ever transpires. In the public sphere this is where the battle lies. Roe v. Wade was a judicial fiat -- the Judicial Branch overstepped its legal bounds and became an oligarchy, effectively "amending" the Constitution without The People's consent.
However, from a moral POV, abortion on demand must be vigorously opposed. Otherwise, we will have admitted that we are all expendible (i.e., there is nothing special about you or anyone else -- you are replaceable).

November 2, 2008 - 06:56 ET by Mark FinkelsteinMy conversion from pro-choice to pro-life was prompted by something similar, if not as personal as your story. Some years ago I was listening to someone on the radio, might have been Rush but am not sure, make the point that most of the people who are opposed to killing baby seals have no problem with the killing of unborn baby humans.
