Begala: President Bush 'a High-Functioning Moron'

Photo of Mark Finkelstein.

What is it with Democrats and their grotesque slurs upon the intelligence of their political rivals?  Last week it was Charles Rangel calling Sarah Palin "disabled."  Tonight on CNN, Paul Begala called President Bush "a high-functioning moron."

Begala was on an Anderson Cooper-led panel with Republican Ed Rollins and CNN's Gloria Borger to discuss the state of the possible federal financial bailout.  Cooper took the first shot at the president, analogizing his performance in this crisis to that during Hurricane Katrina.

ANDERSON COOPER: Watching the president last night give that speech, it was like watching him in Jackson Square in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I mean, he did not seem to be there.
ED ROLLINS: No, he wasn't there.

GLORIA BORGER: He's not comfortable --

COOPER: He was physically there but,
Begala took then took the notion to an ugly extreme.
PAUL BEGALA:  I'm going to get in trouble: he's a high-functioning moron, and that's what Congress treats him as. Both parties.

Borger can be seen cringing in reaction, but neither she nor the others uttered a peep of protest at Begala's base insult.

Instead of providing the Birth Certificate, Obama vows to dismiss the lawsuit.

Barrack Obama files a motion to dismiss against Berg

Why not send someone in there with the birth certificate and it’s over?

http://www.flds.ws/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/obama-motion-to-dismiss.pdf

DEFENDANT DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEES AND DEFENDANT SENATOR BARACK OBAMA’S MOTION TO DISMISS Pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b)(1) and 12(b)(6), defendants Democratic National Committee and Senator Barack Obama respectfully move the Court for an order dismissing the Complaint on the grounds that this Court lacks subject-matter jurisdiction over the claim asserted and that the Complaint fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. Pursuant to Local Rule 7.1, accompanying this Motion is a Brief in Support of Motion to Dismiss and a proposed Order.

The Motion has not been Granted by the Court (at this time).

Faced with the lawsuit, the Obama camp had 2 options:

1.  Produce the required documentation proving that Obama is a “natural born” citizen, and that his citizenship was never relinquished and/or was re-established after he had moved with his mother to Indonesia.  Doing so would put this issue to rest in Pennsylvania, plus all of the other states and jurisdictions where this is being monitored; or …

2.  File motions, obfuscate, advance obscure legal theories, push for dismissal, etc.

APPARENTLY OBAMA IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT.

You're right, CT,

But, this thing is interesting. Filing a 7-page brief on a motion to dismiss, rather than simply producing the birth certificate?

I hadn't given this rumor much credence, but maybe there is a "there" there. And they argue about the plaintiff's "standing." Sounds more like a legal loophole than "transparency."

I'm guessing they were only cringing because he said it out loud on television.

Who is he to judge?

What A Flamer

Seems Begala has a long history of being a flaming loser.  From Wikipedia:

While at the University of Texas, Begala was a candidate for student government president. However, he finished second to a write-in campaign for Hank the Hallucination, an invisible monster character from the campus comic strip "Eyebeam".

That explains it!!!

And he's been haunted by Hank ever since! Followed everywhere! Slowly becoming completely unhinged as he sunk deeper and deeper into madness!

bwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaa!!!

Begala - What do you expect from a guy that received his ideological training in Austin, the Berkeley, CA of Texas?

Begala

He is the perfect candidate to introduce in court to prove liberalism truly is a mental illness. I'll just add him to those I hope to never meet on the street, there is no way I could see him and not punch his lights out. Pay the fine or do the time, it would be worth it.

Old, Retired and glad of it.

Idiot Dems

If President Bush is a "high-functioning moron" as they insist, what does it make them? After all, Bush is a two-term President and they are nothing but a bunch of whining wanna-be’s .

Tell me, Begala (and flame-baiting liberlas everywhere), how does it feel to be outwitted by a "moron?" That speaks VOLUMES as to your level of intelligence, does it not?

Obama: My job is above my pay grade

Well, at least Pres Bush is still functioning

Begala's malfunction is that what comes normally comes out of the hinder part is now coming out of his mouth.

Begala is an idiot,

and NOT "high-functioning." Guess he has a few "Bush bashes" he has to get out of his system before January. When he'll be out of a job, one can hope.

I'll bet Dubya can't wait to get back to the ranch. Who needs any more of this type of sh*t? Eight (years) is definitely enough!

I Need Paul's Help

Since CNN is willing to pay for his trenchant political commentary, he must be far more knowledgeable than I. Therefore, I would consider it a favor if he would apply his impressive analytical skills to the following:

In addition to 2 elections, the president seems to win every major initiative when he goes head-to-head with the Democrats.

Keeping this in mind, my question for Begala would be: “What do you call a party that is continually outthought by a ‘high-functioning moron’?”

I wish

I wish I could come up with a comeback for Paul Begala. I can't. I can't even come up with anything for his massive forehead. I'm sorry if that sounded a tad mean on the forehead thing.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.- George Santayana

THE FOREHEAD...

Paul Begala would be nothing without James Carville, he was the 1 in that political tag-team that stood out. Carville is also a far better cablenews pundit then Begala, as much as I don't agree with him, I respect Carville's opinion & find him entertaining. He would be fun to hang out with while watching football, he can be a likable person from where I stand. Begala does not seem to have any qualities that make him likable at all.

"...it's still We The People, Right?"  Megadeth

Begala will fit right in on MSNBC

Hopefully he will do for them what he did for CNN's Crossfire.

What do you think they talk about when they are off the air...? How long can they keep repeating Oh God I hate Bush?

Victory in Iraq.

Liberals suck.

McCain for Preznint.

See my comment in the above

See my comment in the above CNN report that they got right and their relationship between blind squirrels and acorns . . .

By the way, Broder, your comments?  No liberal bias . . . right.

Unfortunately it is not

Unfortunately it is not only idiot Democrats who disparage President Bush. Remember when MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough debated the subject "IS BUSH AN 'IDIOT'?"

NewsBusters and others documented this piece of standard MSNBC journalism. I immediately stopped watching Scarborough after that show. In many ways Joe Scarborough is worse than Paul Begala, for Scarborough is supposedly a Republican who went out of his way to denigrate the President of the United States, who also happens to be a Republican.

There are some who will sell their integrity for a buck!  I believe Joe Scarborough is one of them.

You want change? I’ll give you change. The most important change we can make is to vote out the Democrats and RINOs in Congress!

I have to agree with you.

I have to agree with you.  He has become unwatchable.  I tried to watch Morning Joe a few times during the RNC.  And you found Mika defending the republican side sometimes.

As for Begala, he could have chosen better words.  Anytime you preface tour self with "I may get in trouble for this"...what follows cannot be good.

It is the nature of the MSM.  When Bush stubles through a sentence, he is an idiot...when Obama stumbles ugh through ugh a ugh sentence...he is just in his thoughtful mode.

At least Carvelle can be funny.  I disagree with him, but I would not mind hanging with him.  I think I would just want to punch Begala in the face.

Another slap to the face of Republican voters.

Besides the personal insult to the President...

A moron is one of the classifications of mental retardation.

So we voters voted in a mentally retarded person to the highest office on the planet. We failed, completely failed to notice this man was incapable of handling the task due to a limited IQ.

Why these people are not hounded over the insults to, not only the people holding office, but the people that vote them in, why these people are not hounded completely escapes me. I just don't understand it.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

I guess we can call...

Paul "The Forehead" Begala a low functioning moron since he has never accomplished anything other than make himself into a disgusting human being, if you want to call him that.  I prefer to call him a high funtioning chimpanzee except I feel bad about insulting chimpanzees.  Can you tell?  I have never liked that guy.  I'm sure glad he's on CNN and not on Fox, so I don't have to see him.  It's bad enough I have to put up with Alan Colmes, Juan Williams and Bob Beckel.  Kirsten Powers is nice though.  Jim Webster

Let's not forget that Begala

Let's not forget that Begala was the one who came on TV after the 2004 elections and said that if we take the Christian's right to vote, we can win every election.  Now, it appears that he and the left would like to imply that Bush and people of the right are mentally slow.  Frightening!  And, is it a slight on Trig Palin?

CNN Anderson Cooper - Nothing But Bush Bashing and Palin Bashing

Anderson Cooper and his team spent a good portion of his program on hit pieces of both John McCain and Sarah Palin. McCain was criticised for his political motives for returning to Washington to work on the bailout and on his obstruction of the negotiations (per the Democrats) once he got there. Critics such as Senators Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer brought forth McCain's political motives and his uselessness during negotiations.

Gov. Palin was criticised for her "unrehearsed" interview with Katie Couric. Anderson Cooper showed the portion of Couric's interview where Gov. Palin was asked about her foreign experience comment that Alaska was adjacent to Russia.

The hit pieces did not surprise me. I expected them since I was watching CNN and liberal Democrat Anderson Cooper. What really aggravated me was that the only "Republican" they had on the panel discussing McCain and Palin was Ed Rollins, who if I closed my eyes tightly sounded just like a liberal Democrat! When he was asked about Couric's Palin interview Rollins said that Gov. Palin had "lost confidance".

When a liberal television network is so afraid to be "just a little bit"  fair and balanced that they will use a RINO such as CNN's Ed Rollins or MSNBC's Mike Murphy to represent the Republican viewpoint you have got to know they are really fearful of a Republican victory.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You want change? I’ll give you change. The most important change we can make is to vote out the Democrats and RINOs in Congress!

"All Republican Presidents are Morons"

I believe Ann Coulter in one of her books brought this up.  According to the MSM and D. operatives, from Ike to Bush all the R. presidents are stumbling idiots.  Ike-a slow witted army general, Nixon-(don't even need to relate their hatred), Ford-too many hits on the football field, Regan-just an actor whose intelligence was over shadowed by his costar monkey, Bush 1-for the D's, Dana Carvey's impression was right on the money and finally W-from day one his "intelligence" has been in question.

Again, they have a hard time debating the issues only their perceived view of the lack of intelligence from our presidents.  I guess since none of the above harassed a 19 year old intern that doesn't make them very smart.

And now we are seeing the same in their critique of Mac.  Of course his holiness' answers are stumbling and halting because he is SO intelligent that his incredible brain has to work overtime to nuance the correct answer.

CNN, the Clinton News Network---Bill decides; Hill reports

Bigala

It seems to me that some years ago we heard the words "mean spirited" hurled about. Whenever a Republican took a shot at Bubba, it was mean spirited. The truth is however, no one ever got into anything personal except Rep. Dan Burton who refeerred to Bubba as a "scumbag." These two-faced Commies have gone after President Bush and everyone else with such venom that I believe we could survive a Rattlesnake bite! If the Obamassiah wins the White House, I'm ready to forget decency and let him have it with both barrels! Of course, that will be considered racism and will be loudly condemned by the MSM [Moron Stained Media, of which Begala is Head Moron!] The irony of it all is after January 29, 2009, they won't have Bush to kick around anymore. I have a strange feeling that he won't take this crap after he leaves office and the jerks like Begala will get a verbal Jesse Jackson Obama treatment from the High Functioning Moron!

But the Marxist/Socialist Obama is the Messiah?

The Libs think the Empty Black Suit named Obama is actually the Messiah!

We don't need this kind of CHANGE

STOP Obama NOW!

From the same segment.

COOPER: Paul, your take?

PAUL BEGALA, CNN POLITICAL ANALYST: Well, there's always this sort of do-the-right-thing gene in the Democratic Party. And it's frustrating a lot of analysts on my side, because Democrats very much view this as Bush's problem, right? This is -- this is a set of policies that he and his party put in place.

COOPER: Are you -- wait -- are you claiming that there's no politics involved for the Democrats on this?

BEGALA: No, no.

(CROSSTALK)

BEGALA: But I'm saying is, why -- why are they rushing to bail out Bush, to support Bush's very unpopular bailout plan?

I think it's because they have been persuaded, those who are for it, that this is the right thing to do for the country, quite honestly, right? The House Republicans, let's give them their due. This may not be just party. They may be ideology, but it's an ideology that say this. This is their solution. Cut regulations, fewer regulations on investors and less taxes on wealthy investors.

Now, a lot of people think that's what got us into the mess, is that we let these financial institutions run wild with no regulation, and that we had excessive tax cuts that -- that actually benefited investors, but not citizens, right, not consumers.

So, they're just like -- it is like the captain of the Titanic saying we need more icebergs, you know?

A "do-the-right-thing" gene in the Democratic Party? Where was this "do-the-right-thing" gene in 2003 and 2005 when the Democrats blocked tougher regulation for Fannie and Freddie?

So, they're just like -- it is like the captain of the Titanic saying we need more icebergs, you know?

Having more icebergs isn't necessarily the problem, steering for them is. Unfortunately, the Democrats put us on a direct course for one.

GO PHRIK YOURSELF PAUL

Begala is just a nasty nasty bitter partisan hack. I don't care how much you dislike W, have a little respect for the office. Comments like that belong with Bill Maher and his ilk.

They've lost

In my experience when liberals start getting personal and calling their opponents names they've already lost the debate because they have nothing to stand on.  This is true with Begala and his ilk.  The socialist democrats are morally bankrupt and politically empty.  they cannot come up with any more ideas (read lies) to persuade the American public that their socialist/Marxist buddy Barakus Obamacus should be president.  I think the American people are starting to catch on.

Pardon my French but someone

Pardon my French but someone needs to bitch-slap Paul Begala.

I was channel surfing last

I was channel surfing last night and ran smack dab into this conversation. I could not believe my ears. Can't he shut the hell up for just a little while? Or maybe just not be so insulting. It gets him and his hideous party absolutely nowhere.

It's one thing to disagree with the President; it's another to just be disrespectful.

These

These low-functioning buffoons are mistaking rhetorical skill with intelligence and ability.  Which is why they are so easily seduced by slick talkers like the Forehead's ex-boss B.J. The Impeached.

Cooper and Begala, let

Cooper and Begala, let alone CNN need to be ended.

Ungrateful, disrespectful ba$t*rds all.

I hope we run over these people like 20 miles of bad road in all areas on the 4th it isn't funny.

Isn't it funny how times have changed from when the rapist Impeached President was Prez...we nor any member in politics could even use the word lie or liar on the air when referring to his Highness...or her Highness...it had to be referred to as the 'L' word, as if we were all children, even when Bob Kerry, democrat called Clinton a liar.

These people need to go away...for good.

Maybe after they lose again they will get a clue or end up in the nut-hatch, other than the stations they work for which already are the nut-hatch.... they certainly fit the definition of insanity.

I am so sick of them, I cannot even tell you.

LOL

A lowley news commentator and I use that loosly calling a man that has trumped the Democrats twice a Moron????

This is as good a place as

This is as good a place as any to put this comment:

Although I have personally disagreed with him on quite a few occasions, including the current bailout "crisis", I have to say that Bush has served honorably his entire eight years.  His biggest weakness is that he had no one (besides Snow, rest his soul) who was able or willing to articulately defend him.  And the libs have been merciless throwing crap on him and since most Americans don't follow politics closely, quite a bit of it stuck.

So, if Obama wins the White House this fall, it will be time for payback.  The conservatives should undermine everything single thing he does, and parse everything he says to put him in a bad light, and then blame him for the failures (and every problem regardless of the cause) and disrespect him at every opportunity.  By the time he leaves office his name will be Obamud.  Such is the nature of modern politics.

Finally, I will say that history will show that the media, including these clowns, have totally failed America in this day.  They were supposed to be our watch-dogs, but they've grown fat and lazy from licking the hands of those who would enslave us.  They have sold their integrity for thirty pieces of silver.   Currently, there is no profession I hold in lower esteem.

and Fox News is fair and balanced?

And the"mainstream media" is owned by? Is that why we never hear about how McCain called Cindy a c**t?

Honorably, you say?

You'd have to "say that Bush has served honorably his entire eight years. "

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

that's funny. I needed a laugh.

Begala

Whenever I see Paul Begala I'm reminded of the scene in Annie Hall where Alvy Singer has to listen to his Uncle Joey Nichols do his thing with slapping the nickel onto his forehead.  When Uncle Joey is done, Alvy turns away and mutters, "What an asshole."

In a previous professional incarnation, I had occasion to deal with Begala's sister, who used to work for Ann Brown at Consumer Product Safety Commission.  Alvy Singer would come to mind everytime...it must run in the family.

Begala

Begala is a flaming a-hole. I'll never forget his "Red State Rant" after the 2000 elections, when his boy Gore tried to bring down the entire American system while trying to steal the election. He basically called all Republicans racist homophobes ("look at Texas, where a black man was dragged to death; it voted Republican" - but we never learned the party affiliation of the people who actually committed the murder, did we? And he went on like that for several states).

I have an excerpt of that speech I keep around, just to remind myself why I hate him so much.

But I do like the way Rush Limbaugh refers to him as "the Forehead - how can a man with such a big head have such a small mind"?

"all Republicans racist homophobes"

He basically "called all Republicans racist homophobes"...

He got that wrong? Oh, and you never found out the party affliation of the KKK type killers?

I bet they weren't democrat; just a hunch. You know how these stereotypes sometimes have a ring of truth.

Kind of like people protesting they aren't ignorant or racist homophobes....and then quote Russ Limbaugh to make their point.

A wise and virtuous man is he!

He got that wrong? Oh,

He got that wrong? Oh, and you never found out the party affliation of the KKK type killers?

Hmmm...George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Ross Barnett, Bull Connor...all Democrats.  Let's just say you'd lose that bet.

But keep trolling along, you seem like such an "intelligent" guy.

Begala

Hmmm, Begala calling President Bush a Moron? It's what commiecrats do best - calling Republicans nasty names and making fun of them. Lord knows they can't get elected to the White House or get anything done in Washington. It's really all the droolers have going for them - being brain dead and endlessly doing their nasty name calling. They excel in that category. Funny how all the Dems keep telling you how stupid Bush is, yet he has outmaneuvered them at every turn for 8 years. Every turn. And it is also interesting that while Bush has a low approval rating, the Democrat led Congress has a lower approval rating than convicted serial killer Charles Manson. People like Begala help make that possible. Bravo, Begala! You da man! lol.

Actually Begala was being kind: Bush isn't high functioning

That's rich. For a Republican to scold the democrats for not taking the high road. From the guys who run the nastiest campaigns historically and make a game out of smearing decent people while they self righteously tumpet their one and only correct faith. Hardly a loving tolerant bunch.

And for the record, if George Bush is high functioning I shudder to see what a real idiot might do to make the country worse off than he's already left it. Hopefully McCain Palin won't give me the chance to find out.

worse off how, troll?

  State your source.

Last I checked this country is doing just fine. Well, almost fine, you are still walking and whining in it. Other than that...

Who is the intoleant one whining about others' faiths? (look left) (look right) Seems to be you!

Remember, this Wall Street problem is that of the Clinton administration, who were the smartest people in the world.  This needs to be in the Clinton legacy along with perjury, the middle-class tax cut that never happened, and the balanced budget that still increased the National Debt.  This was the presidency of lies and deceit.

A high functioning moron??

Begala, you have insulted people who are High Functioning Autistics like myself, proving that liberals show ZERO COMPASSION WHATSOEVER.

Not saying Bush is Autistic, but seeing those words High Functioning sent up the warning signs for me.  On the other hand, Bush is a bit well how should I say not with it when it came to education, spending and especially the way the war was handled and of course illegal aliens.
