What is it with Democrats and their grotesque slurs upon the intelligence of their political rivals? Last week it was Charles Rangel calling Sarah Palin "disabled." Tonight on CNN, Paul Begala called President Bush "a high-functioning moron."
Begala was on an Anderson Cooper-led panel with Republican Ed Rollins and CNN's Gloria Borger to discuss the state of the possible federal financial bailout. Cooper took the first shot at the president, analogizing his performance in this crisis to that during Hurricane Katrina.
ANDERSON COOPER: Watching the president last night give that speech, it was like watching him in Jackson Square in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I mean, he did not seem to be there.
ED ROLLINS: No, he wasn't there.Begala took then took the notion to an ugly extreme.
GLORIA BORGER: He's not comfortable --
COOPER: He was physically there but,
PAUL BEGALA: I'm going to get in trouble: he's a high-functioning moron, and that's what Congress treats him as. Both parties.
Borger can be seen cringing in reaction, but neither she nor the others uttered a peep of protest at Begala's base insult.

Why not send someone in there with the birth certificate and it’s over?

DEFENDANT DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEES AND DEFENDANT SENATOR BARACK OBAMA’S MOTION TO DISMISS Pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b)(1) and 12(b)(6), defendants Democratic National Committee and Senator Barack Obama respectfully move the Court for an order dismissing the Complaint on the grounds that this Court lacks subject-matter jurisdiction over the claim asserted and that the Complaint fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. Pursuant to Local Rule 7.1, accompanying this Motion is a Brief in Support of Motion to Dismiss and a proposed Order.
The Motion has not been Granted by the Court (at this time).
Faced with the lawsuit, the Obama camp had 2 options:
1. Produce the required documentation proving that Obama is a “natural born” citizen, and that his citizenship was never relinquished and/or was re-established after he had moved with his mother to Indonesia. Doing so would put this issue to rest in Pennsylvania, plus all of the other states and jurisdictions where this is being monitored; or …
2. File motions, obfuscate, advance obscure legal theories, push for dismissal, etc.
APPARENTLY OBAMA IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT.

In addition to 2 elections, the president seems to win every major initiative when he goes head-to-head with the Democrats.
Keeping this in mind, my question for Begala would be: “What do you call a party that is continually outthought by a ‘high-functioning moron’?”

September 25, 2008 - 23:10 ET by Rush FanUnfortunately it is not only idiot Democrats who disparage President Bush. Remember when MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough debated the subject "IS BUSH AN 'IDIOT'?"
NewsBusters and others documented this piece of standard MSNBC journalism. I immediately stopped watching Scarborough after that show. In many ways Joe Scarborough is worse than Paul Begala, for Scarborough is supposedly a Republican who went out of his way to denigrate the President of the United States, who also happens to be a Republican.
There are some who will sell their integrity for a buck! I believe Joe Scarborough is one of them.

As for Begala, he could have chosen better words. Anytime you preface tour self with "I may get in trouble for this"...what follows cannot be good.
It is the nature of the MSM. When Bush stubles through a sentence, he is an idiot...when Obama stumbles ugh through ugh a ugh sentence...he is just in his thoughtful mode.
At least Carvelle can be funny. I disagree with him, but I would not mind hanging with him. I think I would just want to punch Begala in the face.

September 26, 2008 - 01:51 ET by tomnkikiLet's not forget that Begala was the one who came on TV after the 2004 elections and said that if we take the Christian's right to vote, we can win every election. Now, it appears that he and the left would like to imply that Bush and people of the right are mentally slow. Frightening! And, is it a slight on Trig Palin?
CNN Anderson Cooper - Nothing But Bush Bashing and Palin Bashing
September 26, 2008 - 02:51 ET by Rush FanAnderson Cooper and his team spent a good portion of his program on hit pieces of both John McCain and Sarah Palin. McCain was criticised for his political motives for returning to Washington to work on the bailout and on his obstruction of the negotiations (per the Democrats) once he got there. Critics such as Senators Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer brought forth McCain's political motives and his uselessness during negotiations.
Gov. Palin was criticised for her "unrehearsed" interview with Katie Couric. Anderson Cooper showed the portion of Couric's interview where Gov. Palin was asked about her foreign experience comment that Alaska was adjacent to Russia.
The hit pieces did not surprise me. I expected them since I was watching CNN and liberal Democrat Anderson Cooper. What really aggravated me was that the only "Republican" they had on the panel discussing McCain and Palin was Ed Rollins, who if I closed my eyes tightly sounded just like a liberal Democrat! When he was asked about Couric's Palin interview Rollins said that Gov. Palin had "lost confidance".
When a liberal television network is so afraid to be "just a little bit" fair and balanced that they will use a RINO such as CNN's Ed Rollins or MSNBC's Mike Murphy to represent the Republican viewpoint you have got to know they are really fearful of a Republican victory.

"All Republican Presidents are Morons"
September 26, 2008 - 04:05 ET by TangoUniformI believe Ann Coulter in one of her books brought this up. According to the MSM and D. operatives, from Ike to Bush all the R. presidents are stumbling idiots. Ike-a slow witted army general, Nixon-(don't even need to relate their hatred), Ford-too many hits on the football field, Regan-just an actor whose intelligence was over shadowed by his costar monkey, Bush 1-for the D's, Dana Carvey's impression was right on the money and finally W-from day one his "intelligence" has been in question.
Again, they have a hard time debating the issues only their perceived view of the lack of intelligence from our presidents. I guess since none of the above harassed a 19 year old intern that doesn't make them very smart.
And now we are seeing the same in their critique of Mac. Of course his holiness' answers are stumbling and halting because he is SO intelligent that his incredible brain has to work overtime to nuance the correct answer.

September 26, 2008 - 05:58 ET by GeneralAlIt seems to me that some years ago we heard the words "mean spirited" hurled about. Whenever a Republican took a shot at Bubba, it was mean spirited. These two-faced Commies have gone after President Bush and everyone else with such venom that I believe we could survive a Rattlesnake bite! September 26, 2008 - 15:04 ET by Ruths husband BenThis is as good a place as any to put this comment:
Although I have personally disagreed with him on quite a few occasions, including the current bailout "crisis", I have to say that Bush has served honorably his entire eight years. His biggest weakness is that he had no one (besides Snow, rest his soul) who was able or willing to articulately defend him. And the libs have been merciless throwing crap on him and since most Americans don't follow politics closely, quite a bit of it stuck.
So, if Obama wins the White House this fall, it will be time for payback. The conservatives should undermine everything single thing he does, and parse everything he says to put him in a bad light, and then blame him for the failures (and every problem regardless of the cause) and disrespect him at every opportunity. By the time he leaves office his name will be Obamud. Such is the nature of modern politics.
Finally, I will say that history will show that the media, including these clowns, have totally failed America in this day. They were supposed to be our watch-dogs, but they've grown fat and lazy from licking the hands of those who would enslave us. They have sold their integrity for thirty pieces of silver. Currently, there is no profession I hold in lower esteem.

September 26, 2008 - 16:58 ET by nandrelliBegala is a flaming a-hole. I'll never forget his "Red State Rant" after the 2000 elections, when his boy Gore tried to bring down the entire American system while trying to steal the election. He basically called all Republicans racist homophobes ("look at Texas, where a black man was dragged to death; it voted Republican" - but we never learned the party affiliation of the people who actually committed the murder, did we? And he went on like that for several states).
I have an excerpt of that speech I keep around, just to remind myself why I hate him so much.

September 27, 2008 - 07:15 ET by dchesHmmm, Begala calling President Bush a Moron? It's what commiecrats do best - calling Republicans nasty names and making fun of them. Lord knows they can't get elected to the White House or get anything done in Washington. It's really all the droolers have going for them - being brain dead and endlessly doing their nasty name calling. They excel in that category. Funny how all the Dems keep telling you how stupid Bush is, yet he has outmaneuvered them at every turn for 8 years. Every turn. And it is also interesting that while Bush has a low approval rating, the Democrat led Congress has a lower approval rating than convicted serial killer Charles Manson. People like Begala help make that possible. Bravo, Begala! You da man! lol.

September 27, 2008 - 01:56 ET by lelectraThat's rich. For a Republican to scold the democrats for not taking the high road. And for the record, if George Bush is high functioning I shudder to see what a real idiot might do to make the country worse off than he's already left it. Hopefully McCain Palin won't give me the chance to find out.
