WaPo's Colbert King Implies PUMAs Are Racist

Are PUMAs racist?  Colbert I. King seems to think so.  In his WaPo column of today, A Suicidal Choice for Clinton Supporters, King delivers a laundry list of reasons why, in his opinion, it makes no sense for Hillary fans to support McCain.  Since he brooks no rational justification for good Dems to desert Obama, by process of elimination, King apparently sees racism as the explanation.

Here's King's punch line [emphasis added]:

So what's drawing Hillary Clinton's die-hard fans to John McCain? Is the attraction only skin-deep?

In an election pitting McCain against the first major-party African-American presidential candidate in history,

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

it's impossible to read King's "skin deep" as other than an unsubtle reference to race and racism.

Obama presents himself as post-partisan and post-racial. But if his prominent supporters are going to argue that there is no reason other than racism for Hillary fans to support McCain, Obama's candidacy could, ironically, harm his own party and deepen the very racial divide he would purport to heal.

Note II:  The Pro-Abortion Childrens Advocate

Have a  look at this paragraph from King's column [emphasis added]:

How can Democrats, drawn to Hillary Clinton by her powerful advocacy for children, inspired by her support for the rights guaranteed in Roe v. Wade, emboldened by her work as a champion for middle- and working-class men and women and her courage in the face of relentless right-wing attacks, even think of putting a John McBush in the White House

At first reading, I took the mention of Hillary's support for Roe as supposed evidence of Hillary's "advocacy for children."  Now. that would have been supremely grotesque.  A subsequent reading reveals the two were meant to be unrelated, simply elements in a list of Hillary's sterling qualities.

Even so, isn't there something jarring about describing someone as a powerful advocate for children, and in the very next phrase citing her support for the right to end unborn childrens' lives?

Blackmail

It's time to start calling out people like this who are trying to win with racial blackmail (no pun intended).  There are myriad reasons to oppose Obama that have nothing to do with race.  The racism charge is meant to keep his supporters from having to deal with Obama's weaknesses.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Keep on calling RACIST

Eventually even the simple people will understand who the real racists are...

Those who shout "RACIST" at every turn... I welcome this and all those like it...

It really shows his true "colors".....

NOBAMA 08 !!!

Did this guy ever write

Did this guy ever write something that mentioned that even during the Democrat primaries, liberal vs liberal, the black vote went to Obama in ratios many times off the charts? Maybe he should remember Obama's black vote numbers before opening his trap on anything else regarding a vote's racial overtone....

Scar versus open wound

hello

Several yrs ago a leader of the NRA..wayne LaPierre (???)..commented that Bill Clinton did not want to reach a successful compromise on the then controversial issue of automatic weapons and their distribution...The NRA had compromised quite a bit and was ready to go the distance with the Clintons and the Dems...but at the last moment Clinton backed off. La Pierre's response was very telling..he said that Clinton ,like many liberals, did not wish to solve an issue..they merely wanted it as a club to use on the political opposition. This is how I see Colbert and the whole damn civil rights industry....they do not wish to see historical American racism as a legitmate scar on our history...to be remembered and studied..never forgotten and never repeated but wish to foster it incorrectly as an open and festering wound to be picked at and nevered allowed to heal....Obviously they would be out of business if they admitted that America is quite a different place than 1887..1954...1965 etc...the whole damn civil rightsindustry would go the way of the tail fin Cadillac...They want to foster resentment amongst young African Americans ...they better be careful as other dark minorities like hispanics and south Asians are racing right past them and grasping their piece of America......Resentment is a terrible burden for young people to carry in their minds and hinders success and happiness, Colbert and others like him who propogate this line of thought should be ashamed of themselves..

I totally agree. Keeping

I totally agree. Keeping the race "issue" alive keeps an entire group of people "leading" other people, and those other people, it keeps at bay. Older black people remember pre-1965 and pre-1954, but those who were not around at that time do not, yet it's still being pushed onto the younger generation that America is "racist." There will always be racists, but America is not racist. People with no clue of how to discuss it properly fail to realize that the things that were against black people (slavery, segregation) were actual governmental entities, where actual laws on the books made them so. Those laws are gone. Racists will never be gone. Marginalized, absolutely, but never gone. Murder is illegal, but there are people that still do it. There always will be. Society is not going to terminate every single solitary instance of something. But the Sharptons and the Jacksons, and many with their mindset ingrained in them want to continue as if we still live in a pre-1965/1954 America, and we do not.  When more people realize that they have to pull themselves out of that crappy mindset, they'll be better off, and America can move forward even faster than it already has as that mindset goes by the wayside and becomes very marginalized.

I would like to know...

How many thousands of ( or mayhap) Hundreds of thousands of hillary! voters were influenced by good ole Rush?  LMAO!  and, then they come home, and vote the McCain ticket who was put up  there by the MSM! Doing the same thing!

Never has there been an election like this.

So mete it be!

Colby King

Seems his mindset is based on his own personal allegiance to one particular candidate for one particular reason.

King assumes all Clinton supporters should be a mindless voting monolith with only protecting the sanctity of abortion as their voting determinant.

IOW, let the men folk handle the heavy lifting.

We get it.

Torches & Pitchforks

Of course Hillary voters are racist

They are racist because some of them are not voting for Obama.  To the black victim bunch, whites will always be racist.

I have a question and mean this in a serious way.  Why is it so wrong for someone not to like another race?  It has gone on throughout the history of the world.  It doesn't look like it is going to end.  But why is it so wrong for people in the US (at least white people) not to like other races?  It's OK for Arabs and Jews and other peoples.  I believe that we all carry beliefs that are adapted by our own experiences.  Just something I've wanted to ask for a while.

Before I am lambasted by the libs on this page for being a racist (horrors), let me state that I would gladly vote for a black person if they were politically conservative and held the same beliefs that I have.

Jeff Lebowski

I don't think it's "ok" for

I don't think it's "ok" for Arabs and Jews to not like each other.  It's just the way it is, generally I think, and I'm sure its not all Arabs and Jews.  I think not liking anyone of a particular race is simply something that has no substance.  If asked "why," I don't believe there is an answer, unless what is known or perceived of that race is something that pushes you in that direction.  Generalizations happen of course, and stereotypes, and due to those you may not like a certain group of people.  Race might be the grouping.  But really that's not dislike of a race, it's a dislike of anyone who does or is about what you are percieving that race to be doing or that they're about.  With Arabs and Jews that's definitely the reason.  If it's drilled into children early, as the Arab world experiences, it will be very hard to change.

Not the easiest thing to explain.

Dislike other races??

I grew up in white ruled Rhodesia and even in that colonial society which was white dominated though not quite like apartheid South Africa the operating (for lack of a better word) concept of the relationship between white and black was not dislike of blacks by whites (or vice versa) but incompatibility between modern Europeans and nearly stone age Africans who had yet, for example, invented or devised a wheel type instrument. The societies and sensibilities were so completely different that separation was natural. Yet there was very little hatred or dislike by whites towards blacks. In America the slaves and the descendents of slaves have adapted and adopted over the 300 years of slavery and Jim Crow the sensibilities of modern civilization and were kept out of American mainstream society merely because of color.....a weird reason to base such discrimination. Dislike of other races/religions/nationalities can degenerate very quickly into something more dangerous and threatening and can cause damage to the haters as I beleive is happening to too many young African Americans and we can see the results of this hatred and resentment in the lack of progress across the black population...fatherlessness..crime....health stats.

Paarl of Rhodesia

Paarl, blacks hating whites is nothing new

I understand that during the Jim Crow era it would be easy to hate white people.  But since the Civil Rights era, blacks have been given the same opportunities as whites by law.

Yes, I agree that blacks have the problems that you cite but white people are labeled as "racist" for discussing them.  In public life and business world, just being accused of being a racist is the kiss of death for a career.

Also, for Rhodesia, do you believe what is happening to the white farmers is not because of black hatred of whites?

Jeff Lebowski

////////////////////////

Here you are correct twice.....you can be labelled racist for VERY VERY little and that is VERY VERY dangerous and 1984ish and threatening to our liberty and actually very harmful to blacks themselves as they will not allow truths to be expressed.

And you are right...being tarred with the "R" word is the kiss of death in public life...

on the other thing you bring up..the white farmers in Zimbabwe..they were being targeted for very direct political reasons and yes hatred but by a very Leninist and Marxist Mugabe and his ZANU PF party....Revolutionaries loot and the wealth of Zimbabwe was in the agricultural sector and they thought it would be there to loot forever but PPPFFFFTTT it is all gone now. The vast majority of ordinary black Zimbabweans do not hate whites and probably for the reason that since 1990 the white population of Zimbabwe was miniscule and most blacks had no contact with whites....In the 1970s there were 300,000 whites ..by 1990 maybe 30-40,000 out of 10-12 million total population.

In South Africa the terrible and very cruel crime against whites and especially Afrikaaners is total and complete racial hatred by blacks against whites....it is slowmo ethnic cleansing that is speeding up and may well become genicidal.!!

Jeff, a.k.a. Angry White Dude

The reason it is considered "wrong" in America to hate people of other races is because we are a Christian nation founded on Christian principals.  Of course we have Christian and non-Christian alike in this country, but the fact remains, the United States of America was founded on the words of the Holy Bible.  And that bible teaches us to love others as we would love ourselves.

The way I see it, there are three major problems with the United States today and they are all related to politicians.

1) The Democrats have abandoned the Christian values of our founding fathers.
2) The Press has abandoned the Christian values of our founding fathers.
3) The Republicans of today have forgotten how to stand up for those values.

 -Spock

Yes Spock, I agree but

if Republicans stand up for Christian values, they are labeled as racist, sexist or homophobic.  Being labeled a racist is death for a republican or conservative...whether it has any basis or not.

Jeff Lebowski

Very True

if Republicans stand up for Christian values, they are labeled as racist, sexist or homophobic.  Being labeled a racist is death for a republican or conservative...whether it has any basis or not.

Very true. But standing up for what you believe in is only the start of the battle.  You must then be prepared to defend your stance.  The Republicans must learn to turn the spot lights against the real racist, sexist and homophobics and expose them for what they really are.  It is high time that the people of America wake up and take their country back, much like the article currently at the top of your web page points out.

-Spock

Thanks Spock and I agree

One of the reasons I began my page was that I wanted a place where people could discuss current events without being labeled or ridiculed.  Although, we do a good bit of ridiculing...lol.  Thanks for visiting.

Paranoia the Destoryer

A racist behind every rock. A bigot around every corner. That's the world of the left.

Pundits on the left better be careful digging into stories like this because they might just expose something about their own party. I sort of divide Democrats into two camps. Camp one is the hard core, racists. Camp two is the supposedly enlightened who practice the racism of paternalism.

Camp one views blacks as a voting block but holds nothing but disdain for them in private. Camp two believes blacks and whites are brothers but blacks can't make it on their own without whites.

I am a racist and admit it.

I hate socialistict marxists. I am sooooooo racist.
