Even by MSM standards, Harry Smith's "interview" of Barack Obama was a disgrace. How soft were Smith's lobs? Had this been a slow-pitch league, Harry might still have been booted for insufficient MPH. CBS aired Smith's chat with the Dem candidate, conducted yesterday, on this morning's Early Show. After a clip of McCain saying he questioned Obama's judgment, not his patriotism, Smith teed it up for his guest.
HARRY SMITH: Many of the attacks that have come from John McCain's campaign have been, quite frankly, condescending. Were you surprised by that? Does it anger you?
Tough stuff! Smith didn't explain what is condescending about a candidate questioning his opponent's judgment, and gave no other example of the alleged phenomenon. Answering the "question," Obama allowed that it's "a little disappointing."

The schmooze-in segued into the flap over the number of properties the McCains own . . .
As CBS aired [for the second time in the half-hour] the TV commercial the Obama campaign had dashed together about it. The Early Show anchor then tossed the ultimate softball: "What point are you trying to make?" Smith of course had the good-breeding not to raise the Rezko matter with his guest.
And they say Harry isn't a hard-hitting reporter!
Note also how Smith framed things in the set-up piece preceding the interview. After airing the Obama ad, he continued.
SMITH: The McCain camp took off its gloves and came out swinging, suggesting Obama purchased his home in a deal with a shady Chicago real estate developer.
So Obama hits first, but Smith portrays McCain as the aggressor. And instead of reporting the facts of the Rezko deal, Smith casts matters as a nasty suggestion by McCain. Hey Harry: Rezko isn't simply "shady." As of June, he's a convicted felon.

August 22, 2008 - 07:23 ET by motherbeltYou know, Mark, I just read the transcripts here any more, and that's bad enough. I don't watch the videos because I know my head will explode!
suggesting Obama purchased his home in a deal with a shady Chicago real estate developer.
Suggesting????? Isn't it a fact that there WAS a deal?
What WAS the point Obama said the ad was trying to make.... McCain's an elitist but I'm not.....I only have ONE multi-million dollar home?
Oh, and condescending....that's Harry's code word for "racist."
Boy, that Harry...
August 22, 2008 - 07:40 ET by unkeeafHarry is able to accomplish two of the company (MSM) goals in one question. He paints McCain as the bad guy and tee's it up for Obombo. To do this, he had to offer his own opinion ("quite frankly, condesending") which is journalistically out-of-bounds.
I guess when you're doing the Lord's work, anything goes.
MSM = PR firm for the Democrat Party
Mark, I'm afraid I would
August 22, 2008 - 07:54 ET by Free ThinkerMark, I'm afraid I would get sick if I watched the video, I just want to know if they cuddled with each other at the end of the interview. And did Obama have to end the interview by saying "This message has been approved by Barak Obama."

August 22, 2008 - 07:58 ET by Mark FinkelsteinIn a campaign year in which MSM sycophancy has hit new heights, Smith still managed to distinguish himself. It was truly disgraceful.
Know what
August 22, 2008 - 08:07 ET by cvgbuckeyeKnow what? I harken back to a few mornings after:
The morning after the Republicans swept the dems out of office in the congress under the guidance of Newt Gingrich. The MSM's faces were so long that they looked like their best friend had just died. I loved it.
The morning after President George Bush kicked Al Gore's butt and it was upheld by the Supreme Court. Same faces on the MSM, same thrill up MY leg; I loved it!
The morning after the MSM had declared OLE LURCH Kerry the winner but it was President Bush again. Thought the MSM were all going to die. I danced around the house like a little child.
ALL OF THE ABOVE, all combined together are going to pale in comparison to the morning after this presidential election. I believe that it would be only out of respect that we would vacate all tall buildings, in advance, so that all these MSM idiots can walk peacefully to the tops and jump off.
OH, WHAT A GRANDE DAY IT WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy to see why Obama
August 22, 2008 - 08:10 ET by general companyEasy to see why Obama is so afraid of Fox. Is it possible for any sane person to take this BS serious?

SEE-B.S...
August 22, 2008 - 22:32 ET by danybhoyWhy is Harry Smith on TV? He serves no real purpose, so why is he on television?
general company, as to your Obama/Fox crack, we know the answers to that question. We know that FoxNews will not give him the uncontested layup(Barry likes basketball, so I use hoops lingo)they will knock him on his @$$ when he drives to the hoop. No easy, soft questions, like NBC or the rest of the MSM. Obama was bitching about the fact that when he did his Military/European tour that the troops had FoxNews on ALMOST ALL of the TVs on our military bases. He made a wiseass remark about that to FNC's reporter (I forgot who)who was on the plane with Obama with the rest of the MSM. John Gibson played the audio of this on his radio show.
Obama, like the rest of the Dems, HAAAAAAAAATES FoxNews, & this crap started to hit the fan when the Breck Girl/Silky Phoney-John Edwards said he would not do the FNC/Cogressional Black Caucus debate a year ago. Can you say "Liberal Facism", or "Fairness Doctorine".

By no means am I really
August 22, 2008 - 08:27 ET by oldArmyBy no means am I really excited by McCain. Which is where my vote will find it's way. However, I am truly excited about how the media will react when McCain takes this election. Can you imagine? We thought Bush taking out Gore was bad....huh....we haven't seen nothing yet!!!
Ain't

Condescending?
August 22, 2008 - 08:41 ET by ChasvsWhat really condescending is the MSM having to carry this empty black suit!
You'd think he'd be upset that the MSM has to make his case for him! but I guess he's just so used to others helping him get somewhere that he figures this is normal!
Hey Barack, We don't need your stinkin CHANGE!
Harry Smith and all his ilk
August 22, 2008 - 15:18 ET by bigtimerHarry Smith and all his ilk do not know how maddening this is with his condescending arrogance with Obama...the interview will be another example of giving people reason to vote against Obama..
Obama inserting Rove into this also is getting rather old, same thing using President Bush who newsflash Obama and msm Bush isn't running again...
McCain hasn't questioned his patriotism, he has questioned his experience ... and Obama and Harry say this is an attack?
How dumb do they think we all are out here...Obama is the one who has been on the attack...McCain is just responding to the attacks.
Personally, I hope the msm keeps up the BS, it is working against them and their messiah...and they are to stupid to get the message.
They will in Nov.
