Hillary Clinton's mention of RFK's assassination was the final nail in the coffin of her candidacy. Along similar lines, can you imagine the howls of MSM outrage if John McCain were to suggest that he might "bring a gun" to his campaign against Barack Obama? Yet Obama has made just such a statement. Expect the liberal media to . . . yawn.
Said the Dem candidate at a Philly fundraiser on Friday night, anticipating Republican attacks:
If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.
Again, let's turn the tables and imagine John McCain had said it. A cyber-prize to the reader submitting the best rendering of the kind of MSM censure that would ensue.

Well, Clear
June 14, 2008 - 22:15 ET by BlondeThe Obama talking head was saying "of course we've released the BC....blah, blah, blah"....but I never saw it, and I was watching, actually.
Sorry for being so sarcastic, it's been like that with me forever....one of my best friends inscribed my senior h.s. yearbook with "sarcastic Blonde".
Who knows? Britcom has a thing for McCain's Panama birth, maybe there are legs to the Obama birth certificate story. Or to his baby mama's "whitey" comment story. I could say something really rude, but I won't. Bambi meltdown imminent. (And yes....I'm just BITTER that my Hillary meltdown prediction from fourteen months ago never panned out, dammit!).

Well Blonde...
June 14, 2008 - 22:36 ET by Clear thinkerI did some quick searching and found that Obama evidently released his BC to the dailkos, but did not put it up on his own official site. Kind of odd?!
Then I read this link about subtle differences concerning what type of documant was actually released. You can read about it here... http://www.suitablyflip.com/suitably_flip/2008/06/kos-tries-to-pa.html
At least for now, the answer seems to be maybe.

It should...it desperately needs to...but I bet it won't...unless Hill has something up her sleeves.

The way of Radical Islam.
June 14, 2008 - 23:21 ET by ScrapironOsama Obama is showing his true colors and his ties to, and upbringing in radical Islam. They are people who don't lose election, (check out his immediate family's background as members of the most brutal government to hit his home country), they kill the opposition and McCain had better take the threat serious and make sure his family is double protected 24-7.
So far Osama Obama hasn't killed anyone, 'that we know of', but he has used every dirty trick in the book to remove his opposition (mob rule in Chicago) from the ballot. Expect it to get much worse if it appears he may lose. You can bet your last dollar they will try to eleminate McCain, one way or another.
Politics in America has became as dangerous as it is in Islamic and Communist countries in one election cycle. He's also making threats by stating we are the only country that doesn't automatically jail the previous administration. Trumphed up charges mean nothing now and he will try it. Blame it on the democrats.

Obama's Father's Day
June 14, 2008 - 23:56 ET by Cool ArrowI think it's a good thing on this Father's Day weekend to pay tribute to Obama's own dad who did the same thing many dads here in America do to their children.
There can be no doubt Obama would not be where he is today had it not been for his loving father deserting him as a child.
It's really sad Obama was raised by his mother and grandmother (one assumes they were both typical white persons).
Hey, Obama! The dreams of your father were nothing more than making a deposit and skipping out. Do the two of you stay in touch?
Maybe that's why Obama is so totally invested in "cut and run".

nothing new here
June 15, 2008 - 03:12 ET by WesenThis was likely a reference to the Sean Connery character in the "The Untouchables". While it may have popped up in movies it roots in Law Enforcement as a way to talk about escalation of force. In the same vein a Cop's attitude about aggression would be to say "if you touch me I will break your arm". Now, Barry is a poseur, a mall ninja... and it will be fun to see him get his clock cleaned.

You people aren't combatting bias, you are whining that it's not biased to your side. Pathetic.
I also find it amusing that NB keeps posting this 'halo' picture of Obama after complaining about it just a few days ago.

Michelle My Helle
June 15, 2008 - 12:42 ET by Jack BauerLike most conservatives my disappointment with McCain is planet sized...
Especially as he seems to have little grasp of the capitalist economy, the US constitution; and the unique American character that made the US the greatest country in the history of the world.
But Obama... wow, I really think even McCain can beat him.
By the way, anyone who thinks this dumb gun remark is a "joke"...
Try wandering up to an Obama rally and start threatening in public to "bring a gun"
Heck, just make the threat in public a few days before ... and see how fast you end up being "interviewed" by the authorities, starting with the Secret Service.
Tell them it was just a joke. See how that works.

Take Heart WhichWing
June 15, 2008 - 17:41 ET by ChuchulainnI feel your pain and agree with your post above WhichWing. You have to realize that Newsbusters is not the real world, it is the extreme right side of Right Wing World. As such they do not represent the majority of Americans or even the Majority of the Republican Party, as evidenced by the number of people here who dislike John McCain. You have to give them some slack though, because obviously Obama chaps their collective hides and they are in the throes of ODS or Obama Derangement Syndrome and will not waste any opportunity to criticize him, legitimate or not. I understand that and expect this kind of story from a site like Newbusters. I like the site though, and even though I disagree with them most of the time, they have some good writers and astute respondents.
McCain Apologizes for Offensive Remark
June 15, 2008 - 22:05 ET by weffieSenator McCain apologized yesterday for comments that were widely assailed as insensitive to presumptive Democratic nominee Barak Obama. McCain, age 71, stated, in response to potential Democratic attacks, "[i]f they bring a knife to the fight, we'll bring a gun." He also stated that in Philadelphia, "they like a brawl."
While McCain denied he was threatening Obama's assassination, he quickly issued a statement expressing his "deep regret." At a press conference in Philadelphia, he stated, "Comments such as the one I made have no place in this campaign. I have nothing but the greatest respect for Barak Obama and his historic campaign for the Presidency."
Several Democratic leaders remained skeptical of McCain's apology. Representative Jesse L. Jackson Jr., Democrat of Illinois, expressed dismay that "Republicans are pulling out the stops to undermine Obama's message of change. Here, they have stepped over the line by associating him with knife fights." Mayor Michael Nutter called McCain's suggestion that Philadelphians like brawls "an outrageous and insulting smear on the good people of this city."
Michael Eric Dyson, Professor at Georgetown University, explained that a signficant percentage of whites unfairly associate African-Americans with violence, and McCain's comments may be a deliberate effort to play to those stereotypes. "Despite a Harvard education, and rising to the top of American politics, Obama is still just a Willie Horton in the minds of some whites, so it's a clever but poisonous game McCain is playing."
Willie Horton was a symbol used by the first President Bush to suggest his opponent was weak on crime. Mr. Horton was given weekend furlough by Bush's opponent despite stabbing a gas station attendant 19 times. McCain's spokesman denies their candidate was linking to the Horton knife incident in the Senator's comment that Obama might stab someone but instead should be shot first just to be safe.
“Voters have to decide for themselves what they think of this,” said Bill
Burton, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, declining to discuss the matter
further.

June 16, 2008 - 10:24 ET by DaieI can't believe people actually think that the MSM would have thought nothing of it if McCain had said the same thing. Common sense people!! I guess people missed it when the MSM tore Hillary..a Democrat...apart for her RFK comments. If the MSM would do that to a democrat then common sense says they would have done the same to John McCain. Only it would have been worse. You would have people like Olberman and Matthews claiming that what John McCain really meant is that he wants someone to take out Obama. That's how the MSM plays their game.
