Matthews's Motor-Mouth Leaves Guests Grimacing

I haven't seen Chris Matthews this excited since a Barack Obama speech sent a certain sensation skyward.

The Hardball host is in an absolute frenzy over Scott McClellan's allegations. So much so that guests on this evening's show are having a hard time expressing themselves as Matthews expounds at length. Ari Fleischer finally called Chris on it. And while David Gregory didn't express his ire in words, his facial expression left little doubt as to his annoyance at being cut off in mid-sentence.

The screencap shows Gregory's grimace. But be sure to view the video here to get the full effect. A bit later, former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer appeared. He could be seen on many occasions attempting to speak, only to be submerged in a sea of ceaseless Matthews chatter. Talk at one point turned to VP Cheney's involvement in policy-making. Fleischer was again repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to talk, and finally had enough.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Well knowing how the White House worked when I worked there [for Jimmy Carter] years ago, the Chief of Staff to the Vice-President got access to all the paper flow going to the President, including the State of the Union, certainly the State of the Union. The question of the 16 words, the questions about his overlying responsibility for intelligence-gathering. I mean, it seems to me you would know, the role of the Vice-President in this regard. You would know his institutional role, having worked there. The Vice-President was the chief of intelligence. He was the G2 as they say in the military, he was the President's chief intelligence guy, and he was also involved in making the case for the war, wasn't he or not?

ARI FLEISCHER: Chris, when your filibuster's over, I'll answer.

MATTHEWS: No, no. You don't have to be sarcastic, Ari. I'm not being sarcastic to you.

Meanwhile, kudos to Gregory—whose virtual surname during his White House correspondent days was "chief administration antagonist"—for his independence of mind in declining to join in Matthews's apotheosis of McClellan. Gregory more than once made the point that whereas the former press secretary was entitled to his point of view, it was essentially derivative. In Gregory's view, McClellan hadn't been positioned on the front lines of policy-making and thus didn't know the innermost workings at the highest levels of the administration.

Update | 8:15 PM: Matthews Gets Carlson Grimacing, Too

Chris is absolutely incorrigible. Later in the show, in one fell swoop he managed to talk over both Bob Herbert of the NYT and MSNBC's Tucker Carlson, provoking from the latter yet another grimace, as captured in the screengrab. It was so egregious that Matthews had to offer an "I'm sorry"—not that it will stop him from cutting off his next guest.

Olby Chat: McClellan Doing the Full John Dean?

A promo aired during Hardball announced that McClellan will be Keith Olbermann's guest tomorrow. Is Scott the next John Dean, an Olby fave?

Mark, I don't know how you

Mark, I don't know how you did it...I am going to watch the video you have here. I posted today earlier that I knew Matthews, most likely Shuster and Olbie to would be all over this with great excitement and I imagined the breathless excitement of Matthews especially...he was so disappointed with the Wilson/Plame outcome, I knew this would rejuvenate him....the blathering fool.

I had it on when his show was on but refused to turn up the volume by watching the rude motor mouth of his go on and on and on...I just couldn't take it today.

Gregory has been fair from what I have seen from earlier him today, and his show seems to be that way too, which has surprised me.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Thanks, BT. Agreed on

Thanks, BT. Agreed on Gregory: I watch his new show regularly, and he does seem to play fair.

I watch Gregory too

I have to admit. I am a religious watcher of his show and does seem pretty fair. I guess he needed to showboat in the press conferences to get his name out; but he has done a good job so far. I am surprised!

A Special Night

 Bigtimer, I couldn't agree more.

I don't believe Chrissy Matthews. He was dressed up in a navy suit and had a special setting. When opening his show, he remarked that this was a special evening on his broadcast. (I paraphrase.) This jerk is banging his spoon on his highchair.

Filibuster

I loved the peeved attitude of Chris when Ari said he would answer when the filibuster was over.

Yeah Chris' response saying

Yeah Chris' response saying no need to be sarcastic was rich coming from him...

Every-time I see something like that I think of good ol' Zell Miller making a fool of Matthews.

As I wrote in an earlier

As I wrote in an earlier post:

"The vultures at MSDNC are just drooling over this. Chrissy Matthews will need a bucket under his chin. I wonder if he'll get more tingles in the legs, too. Odormann is having orgasms for sure."

Start each day with a smile, then get it over with. - W.C. Fields

If you think they are

If you think they are drooling now....wait till they start on this...Congressman Wexler, as a result of this book, now wants McClellan to testify before Congress under oath regarding the things he said.

The three Presidential candidates might as well all go on vacation...they won't have any time for them....this is going to be the news from now on.

I'll bet Chris Matthews is going to be getting a LOT of thrills up his leg!

Yep mb... I posted about

Yep mb...

I posted about that as soon as I heard about via radio airwaves in a couple of places on different threads here and there...in depth to what I thought about it, the Senate is next to follow and this was all timed this way purposely...infuriating, the msm loves it, it will be televised on all networks, and the bumbling stammering Scottie will be embarrassingly shown as the idiot he is but he msm will act as if every word he says is a glowing testament to what a hero he is.

Makes me puke. ...

Btw...there weren't any links yet when I posted the news about Wexler and the House, glad you found one, I forgot to look for one since then since no one seemed to care...hehehee

i just hope waxman's

i just hope waxman's "investigation" here costs all of us millions in taxpayer money - otherwise we'll just spend it on stupid bridge repairs or something...

TM..the Senate will be

TM..the Senate will be following Wexler's example soon.

Waxman

Scott must be crapping his pants right now. I'm sure he didn't think he would have to go before the house committee. I can tell you now, if Scott tells them what they want to hear, I can guarantee there will be a vote on impechment.

BTW...has anyone been wondering why the media hasn't held Scott accountable for not speaking up sooner? What if Cheney next year released a book saying how Bush waged war based on propaganda...would you think the media would hold Cheney accountable for not speaking up sooner? No. They would probably be all over him.

probably not - he's richer

probably not - he's richer than Bill Gates now...

...and can the nobel prize be far off for McClellen now...?

it was sheer algore-inspired brilliance, kudos to the turncoat...

and ultimately, of course this will go absolutely nowhere for the moonbats that they haven't already been - he's was just a press secretary...Mikey Moore probably has higher security clearance than this guy...

it's just kinda sad to see the MSM/DNC axis of evil so off-the-charts BDS - after all they were Americans - but tragic victims of tuning out and turning on...I have nothing but pity for this generation now - history will be absolutely brutal to these lost sheep...

so we must expect this from the moonbat left forever now - if the terrorist-loving moonbat MSM doesn't go ballistic BDS 24/7 for the rest of eternity - with the truth of their Hussein/OBL support - permanently on record now - the relentless truth of history will completely devastate them - the contemporary MSM will now go down historically as the greatest turd ever condemned to desperately polish itself in perpituity...

a fitting purgatory for this pondscum, IMHO...

hmmm, I may be channeling Bill Buckley - I'm craving a good pipe smoke....

Watch all the Washington/New York media liberals...

...treat McClellan as though he is just a great guy, pure as the wind driven snow.  Watch how well they treat this guy now, and never mind that they absolutely SAVAGED the guy when he was press secretary.

"women and minorities hardest hit"

MC... Funny how the press

MC...

Funny how the press only loves a so-called 'R' when they fit into their own agenda...doncha' just love it....

By the way savaging Scottie was easy...he let them.

McClellan

Funny this happened just in time to get Obambi's dozen memorial day screwups and  lies off the news. Ooop's, forgot,  Obambi is a democrat and his screwups and lies never make the news. We now know his Grandpa did not join the army on Dec 8, 1941, but later,  and the world of the net is having a hard time finding a great uncle who served in the army during WWII. I don't know anyone (brother in WWII and Korea, another brother in Korea, myself in Vietnam) who served that doesn't have some sort of record of where and when they served. Something had to bury this, I guess a dishonorable man did it.

Old, Retired and glad of it.

Not to mention...

Not to mention that he stated in his speech, "that his uncle had helped liberate concentration camps, and was among the “first American troops” at Auschwitz."

Auschwitz was liberated by the SOVIETS!!! Not the Americans!

Although he might have been telling the truth, since he was pretty well studied in Marxism during his college years and that "surmon on the mount" he gave the other week which showed 75,000+ people attending was opened with a free concert by The Decemberists who open their concerts playing the Soviet National Anthem.

This could be why no one can confirm his uncle in WWII.  Maybe they should look in the Kermlin archives for this uncle!

Gregory is making a good

Gregory is making a good point letting Matthews know that Ari or Scott were not there as an insider aiding to help form policy when it came to the war, Scott made judgements later on, but Matthews has to keep including Wilson/Plame and CIA leak and Rove/Cheney/Libby...he just CANNOT stop himself, he was proven wrong adn he cannot get over it...

You Matthews, you dunderhead, Armitage leaked the name, most likely Powell knew to, we all know the over-grown looking boy scout of a prosecutor Fitz knew the name long before time and he went ahead with a false prosecution all for his fifteen minutes of fame and his agenda!

Matthews...GET A GRIP!

(I am watching some of the earlier show now is where I am getting this info...lol) See what you did Mark...you made me listen to it...darn ya!

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

I agree BUT

I agree that Gregory does a fairly good show EXCEPT that 'all' of the subjects discussed are either negative issues for Clinton or McCain or positive issues for OBammy and virtually all his guests are either flaming liberals, democrats or RINO's. Sort of reminds me of a watered-down Olberman circus.

oops.... this post was meant to be a reply to bigtimer's post... my bad

And this fat clown thinks

And this fat clown thinks he can run for the Senate?  Can't you just imagine Matthews coming apart at the seams in a debate?  He is simply unable to control himself.  I look forward to his Senatorial Campaign meltdown with much enthusiasm.

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." -Ronald Reagan

fitz...I'd like to say I

fitz...I'd like to say I agree...but for me I am afraid the blathering spittle-spewing fool would win...I have posted before he would fit right in, and be perfect for holding real filibusters and love every single minute of it...so would the rest of the msm.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

bt... Mathews would be

bt...

Mathews would be slaughtered in a real debate simply because he would have to shut up to let the other person speak. I for one would watch that debate with a large bowl of popcorn.

"Abstain from McCain"

Ct..don't get me wrong, I

Ct..don't get me wrong, I would love the debates and the whole spectacle of it, let alone seeing just how much patience he would have in the Senate,. I posted somewhere long ago now that it would all be a comedy in some ways...unfortunately.

In my opinion he could not last long as a Senator, he does not have the patience.

Pass the popcorn!

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Oh, he might win...and when

Oh, he might win...and when you're talking about Arlen Spector, would it be any great loss?...but I digress.  As the most junior of junior senators, he would eventually reach the level of Barbara Boxer...a lightweight who can be depended on to keep getting re-elected in a blue state, but too much of an imbecile and loose cannon to be trusted with any actual authority.  Besides, he is so devoid of any self-discipline that he's likely to be committed before he gets anywhere near the Senate.

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." -Ronald Reagan

OMG...don't tell me he

OMG...don't tell me he wants to run for Specter's seat!! Is Matthews from Pennsylvania?

It's just not fair! We lost Santorum and got Casey....I can't stand Specter, but to trade him for Matthews would just be more than I could bear...

You hadn't heard?  He

You hadn't heard?  He expressed an enthusiastic interest in exploring that seat...and he's cocky enough to think he can get it.  Given his health, I have my doubts as to whether or not Specter will run.

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." -Ronald Reagan

Yeah, I agree

Yeah, I agree fitz....Specter has had a pretty big set-back just recently and is going through chemo again.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

I had forgotten about that.

I had forgotten about that. I wouldn't mind seeing Specter retire, but not because of cancer.

However, if Rendell gets to appoint a replacement (if Specter doesn't finish his term) I doubt he would go for someone like Matthews.

That gasbag's ego is so

That gasbag's ego is so bloated, he'd probably appoint himself...and remain Governor.

Finally, Matthews finds

Finally, Matthews finds someone in the administration to take his mind off his obsession with Scooter Libby...

Howdy Chris..unfortunately

Howdy Chris..unfortunately I am watching the whole show and he still includes Rove/Cheney and Scooter as I posted somewhere above....he cannot help himself...he wants vindication from his past shows where he made a big fool of himself.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

How do you watch this

How do you watch this madman, BT? Is your TV screen made of four inch thick glass? Just reading the transcripts here raises my blood pressure up.

Chris...like I posted early

Chris...like I posted early here I was not going to do it today, I left the volume off...unfortunately it's Mark's fault now! LOL...I usually post here while listening so I keep my sanity that way without getting out shot-gun and shooting the tv screen.

They show a repeat of his show two hours later here...so I am listening to it now ...kind of...if you know what I mean, I tune out some things at times...hehheeee

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

I salute your fortitude. I

I salute your fortitude. I couldn't do it. I'd have to replace my television every other day. What galls me isn't so much his rabid liberal spewings, but that he still has a show to do it from. At one time (a long time ago) Matthews was sometimes entertaining, but now he's just nuts. Do you think his unfortunate "guests" - like Gregory and Fleischer - might realize this, too? It's got to be uncomfortable for them.

Chris.. Fortitude or

Chris..

Fortitude or insanity at times...lol.

Don't answer that!

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Watching Matthews because

Watching Matthews because it feels so good when you change the channel  must be the new "Hitting your head on a tree because it feels so good when you stop". :)

Did the 90s not happen or what?

I love how these idiots act like their the smartest people on the planet, yet completely ignore the 90s when talking about the run up to war. They never mention UNSCOM or the 1998 signing of the Iraqi Liberation Act, which is why there was such high support for an invasion. The presdient didnt need to manipulate intelligence, since 78% of us were behind the operation. As a 16 old in 1996, I knew we would invade Iraq at some point. Was I a psycic, or was it just common sense?

As a 27 year old Marine in

As a 27 year old Marine in 1991 I knew when we stopped bombing the crap out of Iraq because the Hwy of Death was just too much for us to see, that we would be headed back one day.  Was I a psychic?  No no no, I was (am) a realist.  Let's look at it for what it was.  500,000 troops from around the world to get that SOB out of Kuwait.  Oh we got him out.  But we left the SOB their because of a bunch of pantie wearing liberals.  Plus Colin Powell.  He is a great man.  But that was his true downfall.  When he caved to the UN along with Bush 1 then it was over for him.

The problem is that it was not Clinton that went in.  If he had then everything would be okay.  God I hate these people.

Remember Bosnia?

They also forget about the "illegal" Bosnia war where we were killing all of those Serbian civilians with cluster bombs. That war was not a UN sanctioned war and there was absolutly no reason for US involvment. It was Europe's problem not ours and the same goes for Kosovo. Now let me see if I can remember who got us into those wars... Oh yeah, The Clinton Administration. How quickly we forget.

Q. Is Panamanian born John McCain a "Natural Born Citizen"

Yes I remember Bosnia

Yes I remember Bosnia.

And Clinton running arms through Iran to support the Bosnian muslims.

And the thanks in return.

Excellent links, I recommend everyone read them.

Not exactly, Chris...didn't

Not exactly, Chris...didn't he somehow weave this around and work Libby into it too?

I've heard that now, MB. I

I've heard that now, MB. I guess this proves that Libby is an obsession with him. I'm tellin' you - Matthews is nuts!

Chris will never get a

Chris will never get a grip.

Liberals actually exude a oily substance on the palms of their hands. It's a function of the putuitary, which activates to grease up your palms whenever you are being illlogical.

 Think about it.

When God made us, he wanted to be sure that we used our weapons when it was necessary. To shoot deer for food, or to kill Muslims who are out to kill us first. However, if we are attempting to burn a flag, or sign a bill supporting gay marriage, then those illogical oil glands kick in.

Chris literally CANNOT get a grip, because he is not logical. The oil on his palms prevent him from doing so. It's also why I can tell who is a liberal, just by shaking their hands.

Hmmm..... Greasy palms work great for ........

Those greasy palms will be very theraputic as he deals with that sensation running up his legs from listening to Obammy

Oh No captain!

EEEEWWWWWWWWWHHHHH

Gregory in a tight squeeze

Gregory after examining Chrissy's blooodlust realizes that he is now in the middle of 2 of the most unproffesional and stupid men on tv.  (No I don't mean Dan Abrams) but Gregory now sandwiched between Chrissy and Keith probably has problems looking at himself in the mirror these days.  He after all considers himself to be a real newsman.  (Even if he is slanted a little left of Arianna Huffington)

The password is "puzzling"

Anyone catch Matthews' reaction to Fleischer using the word "puzzling" to describe McClellan's change of attitude? Matthews got all wide-eyed - "Hold everything! You (Ari) just used a white house speaking point!!! Puzzling!!! The very same word. What's going on here???!!!!" He acted like he'd just uncovered another vast right-wing conspiracy or something. Fleischer was like "yeah, so what? you just used that word yourself, Chris". It was hysterical.

Motor Mouth Matthews

I don't have a problem with Motor Mouth...I have a problem with these distinguished men and woman that go on a show that has 16 viewers and put up with a bafoon like Matthew's...why do they put themselves in a position to be abuses by a third rate comic? It's their fault for letting him use them to spout his BS...

-

Good point.  I also fault Matthews' producers.  Why do they bother to book guests?

Mark...

Some of us have problems viewing .wmv files. It would be better to have the video in flash video format, or .mpg video format.

Q. Is Panamanian born John McCain a "Natural Born Citizen"

Filibustilicious!

A classic Tweety clip for the ages

"When I was in the White House...blah blah blah"

Enough about me, let's talk about me.

It's Time

It's time for a few of Matthew's guests, to have the stones, to tell him off and take off the mics and walk off the set.  He, and other's like him, foget that these people are invited to talk about the issues from their perspective, not the dumbass hosts.  No more.  Now the host's act like a bunch of blabbering idiots, talking over people (and this includes the likes of Bill O'Reilly) which I find incredibly rude and anyone tolerating that kind of behavior needs to think twice before going back on their show.

Matthews is an Idiot

Here's his all time worst (of too many) from 4/1/05

MSNBC’s Matthews Offended By Words He Put In Guest’s Mouth

Host Chris Matthews: “Michelle Malkin, you were just saying that Michael Schiavo, the husband of Terri Schiavo, is wrong to want to pull the plug on his wife. Why?”
Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin: “Chris, I don’t think we can be absolutely certain about what his wife, what Terri would have wanted.”
Matthews: “Do you think he’s a murderer?”
Malkin: “What? No, Chris let me make my point – ”
Matthews: “You do, don’t you!? Now, I want you to be clear now. You’re alleging that Michael Schiavo walked in one night oh so many years ago and took a pillow to Terri, aren’t you?”
Malkin: “No, what? I never said – ”
Matthews: “How can you come on this program and make such an allegation? Were you in the room when this attempted murder took place?”
Malkin: “Chris, you’re putting words in my mouth.”
Matthews: “What gives you the right to drum up this fantasy? It’s something out of an Agatha Christie movie!”
Malkin: “What? I didn’t say that at all. Chris let me talk!”
Matthews: “No, Michelle, I want you to be clear. Are you calling Michael Schiavo a murderer, yes or no?!”
Malkin: “I just wanted to make a general point about the way euthanasia is viewed by some members of – ”
Matthews: “Yes or no, Michelle?! Did Michael Schiavo have a hit taken out on his wife?”
Malkin: “Chris let me – ”
Matthews: “Unbelievable. You’ve turned this poor husband into a Scott Peterson! I can’t believe you’d come on this program and make these charges with absolutely no proof. Okay, we’ll be back in a minute, and we’re gonna try and keep it clean from here on out. Sheesh. You’re watching Hardball.”
— Exchange on MSNBC’s Hardball, April 1.

Matthews

I noticed that in the beginning of his soapbox to Ari Fleischer, he started with "When I worked at the White House..."

So bacially our news media comprises a bunch of Democrats who used to run the White House telling us how the Republicans are running it poorly.

And no one else finds this a little too close to political propaganda?
