Host Bob Schieffer [who might have experienced some schadenfreude this week with all the talk of Katie Couric being pushed out of the Evening News anchor chair he kept warm for her], asked Pelosi what might have prompted Bill Clinton to resurrect the issue of Hillary's tussle with the Tuzla truth. He had famously chalked it up to the tribulations of a tired 60-year old late at night. In answer, Pelosi sardonically suggested Bill might have had a senior moment of his own.
PELOSI: Well maybe it was late at night when he said it and maybe he should be forgiven. What did he say? Age and time of night? Well maybe the same applies to him as he used for an excuse for Senator Clinton. Senator Clinton and Barack Obama: we have two great candidates. One of them will be President of the United States. The other will emerge as a great leader and respected leader in our country. It's fun to talk politics. We all know that. But we have serious work to do to take the country in a new direction. I can't for the life of me figure out why the president would have said it except he may have been having a late night adult moment. But let's leave it at that. Not the kind of late night adult moments that made Bill famous. Tempus fugit.

Correction Pelosi: Neither
April 13, 2008 - 14:37 ET by ThisnThatCorrection Pelosi: Neither of them [Clinton nor Obama] will become President, because neither of them deserve it. So, shut up and just go back to being the socialist that you are.

I saw this segment this morning and you beat me to the punch!
What a lovely world it would be if we could be rid of all of them, and throw in Obama too, although he is doing a good job all by himself.

Dunno about that, driving around southeast PA I see Obama signs springing up everywhere, like dandelions. The barking Marxist dog has 'em mesmerized. Be afraid, be very afraid.

April 13, 2008 - 16:21 ET by shawn228I would not say McCain deserves it any more than these two. This will be an extremlely close and vicious race come November.
As bad of a candidate
April 13, 2008 - 17:20 ET by NewsbusterbrownAs bad of a candidate McCain is, he still deserves it more than the other two. However, that says more about Clinton's and Obama's unworthiness than McCain's virtues.
“There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.” - Ronald Reagan (1964 Republican Convention)
Shawn, I agree. None of
April 13, 2008 - 17:21 ET by Gary P JacksonShawn, I agree. None of them deserve it. However, McCain is the only one who is even remotely qualified. And I do mean remotely!
I think Obama has shot himself in the foot one time too many. Hillary has her problems, but Obama has made looking stupid an art form. Between Rev Wright, slum lords, wife's big mouth, throw grandma under the bus, and his latest condescending statements about the common folk, he's done. Even if he survives the nomination process, which I wonder about, There is so much ammo that the Swiftboaters for Truth will look like child's play.
Never thought I'd be saying this, but at this point Clinton would be the tougher candidate to go up against. This one is McCain's to lose. Not saying he can't, but he will certainly have to work at it!
Thank you Gary
April 13, 2008 - 17:54 ET by shawn228Thank you for being one of only a few conservatives to at least acknowledged that McCain will not win in a landslide.
One thing that bothers me about some on this site is the bias regarding polls. Their bias and traitorous when it shows the democrat winning or how many people disagree with the Iraq war. Now that the polls showing McCain winning by ten points, everyone is jumping on the McCain band wagon and saying he is going to win.
First of all the election is over a half year away and second of all people keep telling over and over there will never be a Obama/Clinton or vice versa scenario. I would not be so sure. They both know there will be backlash on whoever wins and Clinton has already hinted she will pick him if she is the nominee. I'm not sure if Obama will do the same thing. If they pick the other as the running mate, they will not face much of the backlash otherwise and if Dems strongly back their nominee and conservatives backing McCain is lukewarm at best. Do you remember the voices of defeat on NB, when Romney dropped out?
Thirdly, like I stated yesterday, there are alot of conservatives that do like McCain and vote for him, if Newsbusters is a trustable cluster sample.
Actually it kinda depends
April 13, 2008 - 19:07 ET by Gary P JacksonActually it kinda depends on who McCain picks as his VP. If he picks a democrat, like himself, lots of Republicans will stay home, which could be disastrous, or just vote down ticket. Should he pick a conservative, like Mitt Romney, it will calm the natives down, and McCain will win by double digits in the fall.
I have to disagree with you about a Clinton/Obama ticket. There's no way she's pick him. Too much dislike. A lot worse than the McCain/Romney dislike. And Obama would never pick Clinton for Veep, nor do I think she would accept. For one, Obama would need an official food taster, and car starter. But Hillary would rather watch Obama flame out, and try again in 2012, than be part of this fiasco.
I'm not a John McCain fan in the least. He represents nothing I believe in, not even Iraq. He may know we must finish this, but his zeal to close Gitmo is dangerous, as is his stance on waterboarding.
McCain is totally wrong on immigration and believes in global warming. Two things that should have disqualified him from the race a while back. But here we are.
This absolutely has to be the worst slate of candidates in history. They are all wrong for the country. But, McCain is less wrong than the other two. Looking at Obama's tendency to speak his true feelings, and Clinton's, well, "Clinton-ness". McCain will have a really hard time losing this election. But as you say, there's still plenty of time to try!
Obama and Clinton as running mates
April 13, 2008 - 23:08 ET by shawn228Hillary has already hinted she will make him the running mate. Sometimes a politician will have to swallow their pride if the decision makes sense politically.
Do they want a running mate they don't like or do they not want to win at all?

April 13, 2008 - 18:32 ET by ThisnThatWhen I say "deserve" I really mean that neither Clinton nor Obama have this country's interests in mind. They are intent on trying to implemnt fundamental socialist policies upon the U.S. Clinton is firmly convinced that everyone has to have an equal outcome -- except for the elites [like her] who will run the country. Obama will do everything in his power to "right" the racist wrongs he and his followers believe are embedded in everything everybody does. And both of them will significantly damage the fundamental values and security of this nation.
McCain may not "deserve" it because there are better candidates. But I also believe McCain won't sell our nation out; nor is he a socialist. He's not in the same category as Clinton and Obama, and a direct comparision isn't appropriate.

Obama has a chance to be the next POTUS
April 13, 2008 - 22:47 ET by shawn228Fair enough, I hear ya. The thing is, I really did not have a issue with you saying Obama or Clinton don't deserve it. I had a issue with you saying the blanket statement that neither of them will be President. I would not be so sure.

What do you get?
For me, I know how I am voting in November.
Am I thrilled with my choices? Meh!
I could be happier. But considering what the Dems offer at this point, I want them all sent home, asses on fire, with a clear message that this is not the time for their antiChristian, antiFamily, antiAmerican, socialist, candyassed, horsecrap. I will work and donate to this end.

Will I try to get it and support those who are truly dedicated?
