There's nothing into which Saturday Night Live can't work its liberal politics--even a conventional game-show sketch. NBC aired a re-run of the February 24th SNL last night, and watching it this morning I spotted what you might call a "subliminable" anti-Ann Coulter product placement.
In "What's That Bitch Talking About?" two contestants viewing a succession of women offering bare snippets of dialogue have to guess what they're talking about. The male contestant is consistently clueless. But Tina Fey's character gets it uncannily right every time, down to details that would in reality be impossible to guess. Sample: a woman murmuring "okay" into a phone is indeed getting directions to a margarita party to celebrate her graduation from DeVry, etc.
The male loser is sent packing, but not before he receives a lovely parting gift in the form of the home edition of "What's That Bitch Talking About?" Cut to a quick close-up of the package featuring four women: Whitney Houston, Queen Elizabeth, a beauty queen who's presumably Miss South Carolina of "US Americans" fame, and, most prominently featured . . . If any more proof of SNL's pro-Obama bias were needed, now we have it. Imagine dissing Hillary's most eloquent supporter like that!

There's a difference between doing a skit that openly attacks Ann or whomever else it might be. But this kind of "subliminable" product placement is more about SNL's slipping its own editorial opinion into the show than an attempt at humor.

Now, much of what she says has its basis in perfectly legitimate conservative thought and ideology. Unfortunately, she consistently tries to turn these things into half-baked jokes and witticisms. Toss in her uber-affected speaking voice, which just drips with cocktail party sententiousness, and you have a personality who should by all rights be ignored if not mocked by conservatives along with liberals. She's your Rosie O'Donnell. That her books sell well indicates nothing. I own two of them, which is how I know she's a dolt.
As for the humor aspect of it, at least it does something original in making its point. A lot more so than certain "conservative humor" shows on YouTube which consist of a news tidbit and a follow-up joke whose punchline is so telegraphed it might as well be sponsored by Western Union.

I'm sorry, but that's an incredibly stupid generalization. Bullshit of the rankest vintage. I can only assume you're making a comparison of like lib crybabies on Youtube who whine about Newsbusted as compared to the relatively mature conservatives on here. But to claim that conservatives don't get bent out of shape about slights to their ideology - witness the very nature of this article - and that liberals can never laugh at themselves is just plain wrong.
I would laugh heartily at jokes mocking liberals if they were delivered humorously, i.e. in the style of The Daily Show or SNL or Red State Update. Newsbusted's problem isn't its politics, but its structure; and the host's painfully stilted delivery.
