Obama's Spiritual Guide: 'God Damn America'

At the end of a Good Morning America segment today about Barack Obama's pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., an Obama campaign representative complained that John McCain's pastor had not been similarly "vetted." If that's true, then ABC or some other media outlet surely should and will do so.

Let's imagine that upon vetting, McCain's pastor is found to have made statements that were the mirror-image of those that Rev. Wright has made. How long would McCain remain a viable candidate? Judge for yourself, based on Rev. Wright's statements as exposed in the GMA segment that was the result of work by ABC's chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross. GMA aired a number of clips from sermons Rev. Wright gave at his Trinity United Church of Christ.

JEREMIAH WRIGHT: "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God Bless America? No, no, no! Not God bless America. God damn America! It's in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating its citizens as less than human!"

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Cut to clip of Obama saying "I don't think my church is particularly controversial." Really? In another sermon, Ross states that Wright "refers to the U.S. as being under the influence of the Ku Klux Klan."

WRIGHT: And they will not only attack you if you try to point out what's going on in white America, the U.S. of KKK A."

ROSS: He regularly mocks black Republicans as sell-outs.

WRIGHT: They live below the sea level, they live below the level of "Clarence Colon" and "Con-damn-nesia."

ROSS: In his first sermon after September 11th, 2001, Reverend Wright said the U.S. had brought on the attacks with its own terrorism.

WRIGHT: We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant?! Because the stuff we have done overseas is not brought back into our front yard? Americans chickens are coming home to roost.

Ross quoted Obama as saying that Wright is "like an old uncle who sometimes says things I don't agree with."

That Obama advisor then appeared, Shaun Casey, a professor of Christian ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

CHRIS CUOMO: You heard Brian's piece. Given what Reverend Wright has said over the years, much of which would be considered over the line politically, should Senator Obama separate himself from the reverend he calls his "spiritual guide"?

SHAUN CASEY: I think Senator Obama's been very clear that he disagrees with Reverend Wright on a number of the specific issues you've just shown in the story. I think it's unfair to hold any politician to the political views of their particular pastor and I think it's unfair to hold any pastor to the political views of congregants. It's part of the great American tradition that many congregations are composed of folk who have a wide variety of political views. So I don't think Senator Obama really has any more to say than what you showed in that piece.

CUOMO: But is there a responsibility as a candidate for president to associate yourself, certainly as a spiritual advisor, with ideas that are consistent with your campaign? Senator Obama said his campaign is about moving away from divisive politics, from sniping and attacks. And then, to say your spiritual advisor is a man who says America should be damned? That it is to blame for 9-11? That Farrakhan deserves an award for epitomizing greatness? Does that go together?

CASEY: I think he's repudiated that very clearly. If you had any evidence that in fact Senator Obama had embraced those views we would see that in the piece. But the fact that you didn't have any video of Senator Obama embracing those views, in fact he's repudiated those views, I think it's very clear. I mean, it's interesting to me you haven't vetted Hillary Clinton's pastor's sermons, you haven't vetted President Bush's pastor's sermons. You haven't vetted John McCain's pastor's sermons. So, you're not holding them to that standard, which I think is very interesting.

CUOMO: And you believe that what the reverend has said doesn't go beyond the pale of what he preaches in terms of religion, it doesn't deserve any more scrutiny than that? It doesn't have anything to do with politics? This is just the media picking on Senator Obama?

CASEY: No. It's fair to ask those questions. But what you have to accept Senator Obama's answers that he repudiates those specific political views on the three or four issues that you've outlined. And I think you have to take his word for that. It seems to me what you're trying to do is what some of the media tried to do to John Kennedy in 1960, that because he was a Catholic he must embrace certain political views the Catholic church held and he denied those, and he denied those for about a four-year period. And it really wasn't until the actual election itself that the American public understood that he was able to separate himself from some of the political views of his church. I think it's the same dynamic that's going on here.

CUOMO: When people hear what Reverend Wright has to say, they may be concerned that that is the spiritual adviser for Senator Obama. How do you respond to that?

CASEY: The way to judge Senator Obama's spirituality and faith is to read what he has written, listen to the speeches which he has given, which again you showed no clips from. This man has spoken at greater length about his faith than any current candidate for the presidency of the United States. Follow what Senator Obama says on policy, follow what he says about his own spirituality, don't impute positions to him from his minister. That's only fair.

Let's begin by giving kudos to Brian Ross for his investigative work, to ABC for airing the segment and to Chris Cuomo for posing some probing questions to Obama representative Casey.

That said, if this had been a Republican candidate, could he possibly have come so far as to get his party's nomination before this kind of piece had been aired? And would the person in Cuomo's position simply have been asking whether the Republican needed to "separate himself" from the minister? Would there not be clamoring for the Republican's outright withdrawal from the race?

Let's consider Casey's defense: that ABC is doing to Obama what some in the media did to JFK in 1960. But Kennedy was born into a worldwide religion. Here, Obama as an adult chose to become a congregant in a very specific church, and chose that church's leader as his personal "spiritual advisor." He chose Rev. Wright to perform his wedding ceremony and to baptize his children, and credits Rev. Wright with devising the title of Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope."

This was not just simple membership in one of the world's great religions. It was Obama's decision to very closely associate himself with this congregation and its pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Were the shoe on a Republican foot, would the MSM not have long-ago driven him from the race?

Michelle Malkin: "Now we know where Michelle Obama’s resentment of America comes from: her profanity-spewing pastor."

Wright

"Reverend" Wright is an angry man. Michelle Obama is an angry woman. They are both angry about America. They damn America.Yet they gladly take all the treasures she has to offer. And BO thinks this "man of God" is o.k.? How about a "Damn Obama" homily? Millions of Americans are now lambs to slaughter. A vote for Obama is a vote for your own demise. Wake up!

Obama's consequences for America

We are seeing just the tip of the iceberg on what an Obama victory will bring to America. Black racists, beginning with his wife and paster, and extending deep in to the black community is just the beginning. He will populate his cabinet and advisors with blacks who have long called America racist, and who will work towards things like reparations and extended affirmative action programs.

He will also do great damage to our national security. How many times has he said "we must talk to our enemies, no pre-conditions"? This is being echoed by foreign governments. Witness France's foreign minister as reported on today: "Kouchner also discussed holding out hope of talking with Hamas, the Palestinian faction that rules the Gaza Strip but has been ostracized by the West and by its Palestinian rival, Fatah. 'We have to talk with our enemies,' he said".  Hoping that we talk with Hamas, a terrorist organization. And who are our enemies -- the Taliban? Al Queda? These are the very words of Obama, our so-called Presidential candidate.

Election of Obama will be a serious set-back for the United States of America.

Angry people

Iveseenitall:

"Reverend" Wright is an angry man. Michelle Obama is an angry woman."

You would think that some of the "hope" that Obama is pushing would have rubbed off on the two of them....  I mean, they have been in close proximity to him and his values for a number of years....

Spiritual ???

What he is saying does not sound very spiritual...it sounds more political.

"It's in the Bible, for killing innocent people." Sounds like another empty Bible quote...where is the scripture reference.

Barry Hussein Obama may win the Demcoratic nomination, but he will not win the election. This is just more of his baggage that he cannot explain away.

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

The "Not-so-right" "Reverend" Wright's "Church"

The "Not-so-right" "Reverend" Wright's "Church" is just exactly as Christian and Biblical as Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam, i.e. not in the least. And Barack Hussein Obama's SOUL has been shaped by the "Not-so-right" "Reverend" and his "Church".

But here's where I disagree with you, if Barack Hussein Obama gets his party's nomination, he will have at least an even chance of attaining the Presidency. In short there are three reasons for this probability: 1. the economic outlook is somewhat bleak and the opposite party in office, 2. the Liberals have had the last several decades to brainwash most of the population, and last but certainly not least 3. the MSM WILL well-nigh expend all of their power to help him shed his ample RACIST baggage in the general election.

thou shalt not kill i use

thou shalt not kill

i use it against abortion all the time:)

You shall not murder.  God

You shall not murder.  God has on numerous times ordered men to kill on His behalf.  Additionally Wright did not seem to give and scripturla reference or relevance to what he was saying.  It is a clip but when my pastor speaks on the Bible and trys to make a point he gives scriptual references and says why they apply.  This is one of your problems in following Islam, that there are no scriptual references that make sense.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

so i guess then I say "gee, we didn't know that, Dan! Thanks for clearing that up..."

PS - for those of you in rio linda I don't follow Islam:) nice try though, Dan - and your spelling is much improved too! way to go bro

What he is saying does not

What he is saying does not sound very spiritual...it sounds more political.

Absolutely, LionKing! And he also mentioned Obama and Hillary Clinton by name. The man has clearly crossed the line into campaigning from the pulpit.

I hope the IRS is re-evaluating the tax-exempt status of his church in light of this. I think I saw something to that effect a week or so ago, but I'm not sure if it was this church or some other.

Mr. Casey, at the end of that video, says that Obama has separated himself frome that rhetoric. Why wasn't Hillary Clinton allowed to simply verbally "separate" herself from the not-so-nearly-inflammatory (just un-PC) remarks of Geraldine Ferraro? Why should other politicos be required to kick their advisers to the curb for lesser offenses while this is allowed?

Killing the innocent?

No doubt he is referring to the millions of black babies aborted since 1973.

Prester

Thtat's laughable and ironic since BHO is such a big abortion supporter. What a hypocrite.

I wonder how Rev Wright feels about abortion.

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

I forgot...

...the "sarc" tag.

Wright probably sees it as the white man trying to eliminate the black race (which, BTW, we all know was a motivation of Margaret Sanger aka the founder of Planned Parenthood).

It would also be nice to see what kind of house Wright has and what kind of car he drives.

This is in the

This is in the bible...

Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord", will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven. Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Then I will tell them planly, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"

Sowing racism what a

Sowing racism what a spritual man he must be. Really this "pastor" seems ike he would be a perfect spirutual guide for the America hating left.

He's a racist.

He's a racist.

Precisely

Which is a perfect illustration of the problem in today's society:  Ferraro makes an observational statement that could only be defined as racist if you apply it to the broadest definition of the term, yet someone like the Irreverend Wright can spew racist hate against white people, and racially motivated lies, like "Jesus was a poor black boy," and it's not made an issue of and he's not considered a racists because Blacks can't be racist because they have no power - which is another lie, and Obama is allowed to dissociate himself from him with the flimsiest of excuses.

"Jesus was a black man"

I've heard that spewage around the office many a time. "Everybody knows Jesus was black!" they claim. So they're telling me that 'everyone" knows this "truth" but are all bigoted racists hiding that universal truth. This *always* from someone with some sort of "anti-hate" messages all over and "inspirational reminders" that seem to suggest that all african american history began and ends around slavery. So it's okay for them to accuse me of being bigoted, but that's not "hate"...WTF?

Everybody knows if Jesus was anything, he was Arabic. Except for that whole inconvenient Biblical truth that clearly states his parents were Jewish. But even then, I'm pretty sure that if Jesus had been Moor or Nubian there would have been *some* reference somewhere.

Can't convince the afroamerican hate squad tho. They're so entrenched in their racism they can't even see the hypicrisy they spew. At least Klan members can be tripped up with a little history lesson every now and then.

"to call an illegal immigrant an "undocumented alien" is the same as calling a streetcorner drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist".

offensive language

Besides the obvious racism, the thing that bothers me is that we are not allowed to use the "N" word and the MSM will -bleep- it out, but he can repeatedly say "GD" and the MSM doens't -bleep- it. I, personally, find GD much more offensive than N

I obviously take strong

I obviously take strong issue with Rev. Wright. But he wasn't using gd as an adjective. He was calling on God to damn America rather than bless it. Wrong-headed, of course. Taking the Lord's name in vain, no.

American "hope" and "change"

The great "hope" for America, and what has separated us from the rest of the world, has always been individualism and self-reliance. When I see these crowds anywhere, from churches to political rallies, I'm reminded how far we've gone astray. People like Obama and Wright lead the mindless throngs to their own destruction. They insult all Americans. Nonetheless, it's just what the "liberals" want --Communism/Socialism which degrades the individual. The irony is that ultimately it is the "masses" who suffer, while the disingenuous few live larger than they ever dreamed possible. It's downright anti-American at its core. Obama and his ilk (Wright, Clinton, Jackson, Sharpton et. al) are "audacious" alright.  So were the "pigs" in Animal Farm. That book should be required reading for all Americans who want "change". Be careful what you wish for.

NEVER,NEVER, trust a "liberal"

Flipping Back A Few Pages

A reminder of what Obama has sworn to live and uphold in every aspect of his life.

Mr Erik Rush, a columnist, viewed the website of Senator Barack Obama's church, Trinity United Church of Christ, and viewed the Black Value System to which the church subscribes - to which ALL members must affix their signature in allegiance.

After Mr Rush's article appeared (21 Feb 07), Trinity United Church of Christ quickly changed the "About" page of their website (from this on 15 Mar 07 to this on 29 Mar 07) to NOT include the sworn dedication to upholding the Black Value System, hiding that strong and important cornerstone of the church, the pastor, and the members from the public.

Why? Is Trinity United Church of Christ ashamed of what they believe? Do they intend to keep their firm and practiced belief in The Black Value System a secret from the public and future members? Is that why The Black Value System was removed from their website? Because it is a radical, separatist, bigoted, exclusionary, and a wholly racist belief system?

08 Oct 07 | FoxNews: As Obama Talks Religion, Questions Surround His Controversial Pastor

Barack Obama has put his religion back into the headlines, trumpeting the power and salvation of faith and asking a church audience in South Carolina to help him become “an instrument of God” and join him in creating “a Kingdom right here on Earth."

30 Apr 07 | NYT: A Candidate, His Minister and the Search for Faith (3 pages, log-in required)

“If Barack gets past the primary, he might have to publicly distance himself from me,” Mr. Wright said with a shrug. “I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen.” - Rev Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr, Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago IL

Interesting to know Barack Obama will continue to receive regular personal and spiritual instruction and counseling from Pastor Wright during his campaign to be President, but, admits he will publicly distance himself from the man he admires, reveres, and is entranced by; in effect, deliberately hiding his relationship with the controversial and radical Pastor Wright from the public. Would "an instrument of God” committed to creating “a Kingdom right here on Earth" deny his brother? Obama will... to further his personal and political agenda. Should he win the Presidential race, how would Obama treat an ally of America? How would Obama treat an enemy of America? If he is willing to treat a cherished personal friend of at least thirty-five years in this abysmal way, publicly disavowing their relationship while maintaining it in secret, it boggles the imagination to wonder about the treatment of which he is capable of those that are not his personal friends (or friends of America).

Why? This is completely contrary to Obama's beliefs. Is Obama ashamed of his on-going relationship with a known racist radical? Evidently.

Big question

But is he really ashamed of Wright? That, to me, is the larger question. Remember...

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Hey Mr. Wright.......

There's a little Island Called Cuba not far from FL if you care to leave, but you will have to pass all the people who are trying to get INTO this "Damned" country from there on your way to it.

God BLESS America for its philanthropy
God BLESS each of you Americans for paying taxes and donations to help the poor and unable
God BLESS America for being a beacon of justice and democracy to the world
God BLESS the opportunities that so many have died to give us today.

Mr. Wright- take your messages to Iran and we'll see how much you really want God to "damn" America

:applaud

Well said

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

is the reverend right?

This one hits pretty close to home as I've been a UCC guy for the past 15 or so years - each congregation enjoys a lot autonomy - Rev. Wright was pretty charismatic - but I didn't hear anything that hasn't been said from pulpits before. (I grew up a conservative lutheran)

Should this be a negative in Barack's run to the nomination? I don't think so.

Was it fair to compare this to the JFK Catholic Church dust up? Not really.

I think what is most striking to me is how great a distance there seems to be from mainstream America and what has been going on in our black churches for decades.

Since the Rev Wright has retired why is this still an issue?

I won't be voting for any candidates church but I've got to tell you - there was something "alive" in that clip about Trinity Church - they've got something going on.

This alarms me "they've got

This alarms me "they've got something going on" and I urge you to read teh Bible.  Satan is very charismatic and he had something going on also.  I will tell you that church does not teach God's truth, it is Satans truth.  In teh garden Satan wove his web with just enough truth to make it sound right, and then spun it a little away from God with Satan's own truth.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

soosan, you are right, they really do have somehting going on.

It-s called anti-American, racist hate-mongering.

Wright Plagiarizing Farrakhan?

Wright's sermons/speeches sound exactly like the sermons/speeches given by Farrakahan, in whole passages.

It'll be interesting to look into.

Rush is currently ripping the "Rev." Wright a new one.

Good stuff.

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

The Rev. Wrong

Shouldn't this (rather cleverly) be called

HATE PREACH...

I just coined that term ( I think) but I waive copyright for the sake of the children.

Vote 4 change. Vote 4 anything. See Jack & Mr Shy's first campaign ad for the ONLY viable 3rd party candidate.

According to the Libs

According to the Libs EVERYTHING from the pulpit if hate preach (except this probably).

I heard some of Wright's

I heard some of Wright's racist hate America so-called sermons last night on H&C...his propaganda is infuriating, although I have heard some of this before, it is high time networks like abc and Ross/Cuomo did the work they should of long ago, it is infuriating every word the man says, let alone all the ties the have with evil people here in this country and world-wide.

Obama has been going to Trinity for over 20 years, this is not something unknown to Obama, he and his wife have embraced it, no matter the words he says to the msm and his followers, the lemmings of his, well people had better do a much better job and those running against him had better be bringing this up more and more, this man is spooky, he is with a racist group, and the plan is to use this against anybody who says different, if people do not stand up and fight against this propaganda then this country is lost.

This is nothing but pure hatred, through and through, and if Obama doesn't explain himself and distance himself completely from Wright and the Church, and say so ...and mean it, he will lose as he should.

Which I think he will anyway.

Btw...Hillary has to be smiling.....but will she have the guts to even bring this up again, look what she let Ferraro go through, when what Ferraro said was the truth, plain and simple. When what Steve King said was the truth, plain and simple and we have McCain backing away from this great congressman. These gutless wonders running are shameless as far as I am concerned....anything for a vote.

As an aside...(I know Wright has supposedly left and retired, but isn't it rather convenient he did this in Dec?)

Now I am quite sure there will be another leftist rant from the likes of Olbermann like he had last night regarding Ferraro, but this time it will be about how awful this is that the msm is looking into Wright, Trinity Church and Obama.

Be wary, very wary.

bt,

...and if Obama doesn't explain himself and distance himself completely from Wright and the Church...

That will be a pretty major miracle, even for the "messiah." He and his family have been members of that "church" for over two decades. I don't think the fact that Wright has "retired" (which doesn't become effective until May) is going to help Obama much, as Wright is currently an advisor to Obama.

Rush has been all over this on his show today, as he has been playing excerpt after excerpt of Wright's "sermons." Rush made a very good point: There are apparently two Barack Obama's.

_______________________________

This is really scary stuff. You cannot be a member of a Church for over twenty years and not be affected by it. An even bigger question is, why have the Obama's remained members?

Honestly, the idea of Obama as the "Manchurian Candidate" doesn't sound quite as far fetched as it once did.

I wonder how long the MSM can keep a lid on this?

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

RD... I wonder how long

RD...

I wonder how long the MSM can keep a lid on this?

He can't...it has been on H&C last night, now abc, it will come out more and more, but what the msm and the dems do about it is another matter...what our side of the aisle does with it so far is remain silent and apologize constantly.

I have been patiently waiting for this to hit the fan, which it hasn't yet in full force, but it had better.

Of course it is a cult, the Trinity Church as far as I am concerned, with a lot of connections with very evil enemies of ours. This isn't a family oriented church, this is a following with a purpose filled with hatred and propaganda against the white man and the Jews.

bt,

I think it's great that Sean and Rush are all over this, as is Mark, but until the MSM gets involved, it won't have near the impact on the overall voting public. Sadly, it appears the MSM just isn't interested in pursuing Obama in this area like they went after Romney. I hope that changes.

I believe this man is dangerous on numerous levels.

And Obam will continue to

And Obam will continue to say he "obviously" doesn't agree with everything the Pastor says....

Then why is he a campaign advisor? Geraldine Ferraro was only an "honorary" fund raiser, and she had to quit....

But Obama won't be pressured to do anything....that would be racist.

Here's a riddle: How many Obama supporters does it take to (insert whatever)?

Answer: That's a racist joke!!

Motherbelt, I said the same

Motherbelt, I said the same thing in another posting. I agree.
This is going to be a very interesting, but sad race. There's not a thing that ANYONE will be able to say or do without being labeled a rascist.

We can hope this crap gets old before the general election and people will have to demand answers to too many questions.

Frankly, I think this is profoundly depressing.

OK, one minor point

The "expert" said about JFK: "And it really wasn't until the actual election itself that the American public understood that he was able to separate himself from some of the political views of his church."

If you didn't know the history, you might take this "expert" at face value. You might come to believe that the Catholic Church was really trying to exploit JFK's faith against him, and allow bishops and the pope to command JFK to carry out their wishes. If you took this expert seriously, you might take it for granted that the Catholic Church was primed and ready to take over the American government through JFK. And you'd be very wrong.

This expert failed to note that the bishops had long before denied that they had any authority to do that. It was a purely fictional slur against Catholics, a deliberate boogeyman. The bishops had already said that they had no such authority.

The history books tell children that JFK bravely argued that if the bishops tried to intimidate him, he would resign. It was nothing of the sort. JFK was being brave against a non-existent enemy, since the bishops never had any intention of intimidating him, and had already publicly said that they didn't have the authority to do it if they wanted to.

Some expert ...

Rush just reported that this

Rush just reported that this preacher is on "sabbatical" until May, when he retires from the Church. During the sabbatical, he'll be campaigning for Obama. Maybe then the MSM will be forced to report his "hate preach".

Howdy marpel, I just turned

Howdy marpel, I just turned on Rush a bit ago and caught him in the middle of what you just posted, plus also saying Wright is on one of Obama's advisory committees right now!

I could of sworn I heard him say in one of the debates with Hillary that he was not in agreement with Wright and would repudiate him.

Say what! Why in Sam He!! is he working for him now as an advisor of some sort.

(I will have to catch the part of the show I missed later if he doesn't bring it up again today to hear what he is advising Obama on)

So if Ferraro felt compelled

So if Ferraro felt compelled to resign from Hillary's staff of advisors, so must the so-called Preacher from Barack's staff.

That would only seem fair....but WAIT A MINUTE, Barack's black, so the same set of rules don't apply.

Right?

marpel, Exactly! That is

marpel,

Exactly! That is what the msm and the some of the dems will say.

What audicity with the hypocrisy coming form Obama and crew...this is going to come back and bite them in the arse, as it should.

Give 'em time.

Our side will remain silent (some won't) so we will have to let others like Hannity, Rush, Levin speak out and some on Hill's side play it out.

Play out it will be before Nov. or June for that matter.

brushfire

are you serious about some of the stuff in these posts?  I thought only the libs drank the kool-aid.  there are a lot more troubling things about BHO... a whacky minister isn't one of them.

you do realize that attacks on the black church will lead to more polarization?

It's way to early for this kind of sniping.

And what will be the ramifications of the increased polarization?

Have any of you ever been to a black church?  I'm just hoping for a lttle context here.

soosan

Obama was with this pastor for twenty years, he had to have heard this hateful propaganda from Wright for years, he has Wright on his team now as an advisor, what part of this don't you understand soosan?

They hate the white man, they hate the Jews, they hate America.

Was it okay with you what the dems and the media did with Romney and his Mormonism and the church?

Same should be asked of Obama....he is running for President...of the USA.

Bigtimer, I agree w/ you.

Bigtimer, I agree w/ you. Frankly, I was uncomfortable with Romney being a Mormon, I have to be honest. But, I am much more uncomfortable with the Church that Obama attends.

But, as I said in another posting, Obama's black. The same rules don't apply to him. If you look at him the wrong way, you'll be tagged a rascist.

Since it's almost certain he will be the Dem nomination, I just wonder how many times McCain will be labeled a rascist. Anyone think McCain will just roll over for Obama? I do.

marpel... Anyone think

marpel...

Anyone think McCain will just roll over for Obama? I do.

Well McCain and team(Rick Davis) put out new talking points yesterday about laying off Obama ect...

I heard Hannity who is going to do an hour interview with McCain tonight on H&C ask Rove if McCain shouldn't be questioning the relationship with Obama and Wright, the Trinity church, Farrakhan ect...Rove at first said no, but anyway Hannity pressed him some more and he said well maybe ...so we shall see how the interview goes tonight regarding this...(I'm paraphrasing here)

Let alone other areas I am interested in too, like illegal immigration, Gitmo, oil independence

bigtimer

what I understand is that you're pretty riled up.  "they hate the whites, jews, America"?  That's a bit over the top don't you think?  You're painting with too broad a brush.  It's also an oversimplification of what's going on at Trinity.

As to the Romney treatment - I don't need to tell you that two wrongs don't make a right.

soosan

soosan..

What I understand is either you don't hear, read or comprehend what is/has been going on in the Trinity church with Wright and his hate preach.

Obmam needs to clarify his exact positions on this and why is the hate-filled racist america hating man working/volunteering for him now?

Who are you supporting in this election soosan?

Just curious here.

And to follow up Bigtimer

And to follow up Bigtimer and Soosan...

This preacher is exactly why Michele Obama is just now proud of her country. She's just not as sneakie as Barack in trying to hide her convictions.

Ugh...I'm getting sick just to think that he could be our next President.

SAY IT AINT SO...

marpel... We have a long

marpel...

We have a long way to go yet, a lot can happen.

I do not think Obama will be President...too much will come out between now and then IMHO.

I just posted that Sean

I just posted that Sean Hannity is talking about this very thing right now. Listen in if you can. If you can't get it on your station now, log onto www.woai.com.

marpel, I got it there now

marpel, I got it there now because of YOU!

Thanks so much....

Btw...Sean has been doing a non-stop job on this on H&C....for that I am thankful, I have been posting about being wary of Obama for so long now that I am tickled this is coming out...bit by bit.

I know full well the media will attempt to ignore this all, but it won't be by all of us out here, we have this thing called the internet now.

Glad you're listening,

Glad you're listening, Bigtimer. I don't know if you're catching it, but Sean is just repeating what we all have been writing here. I'm glad of that. Hopefully, our voices will be heard.

Here's a message for ol' Michele Obama...I'M DAMN PROUD OF MY COUNTRY!

Sean gets replayed in my

Sean gets replayed in my area from 6-9 PM....I will listen tonight.

what I read

What I read, hear, and comprehend is that some folks in the inner city have formed a special community - a community that is not thrilled with all of the things that are going on in their community or in this country - who is? You might even be able to call them a social activist church. Other than the Farrikan thing (don't have exact details), I don't get the furor over Rev Wright.

Drum beating and chest thumping is not the same as hate preach and america hating.

I'm kinda of big on tolerance and reasonableness.

Mitt was (is) my guy. I thought having someone with a successful business management background would help steer us through some upcoming economic crises... Am glad he subscribed to a moral code (Mormon) I prefer that my elected leaders have one.

I don't get the furor over

I don't get the furor over Rev Wright.

To each there own soosan.

If you don't get it, I can't help ya.

Did you really watch the

Did you really watch the video here, soosan? Did you hear tolerance and reasonableness?

LOL mb... I know you

LOL mb...

I know you weren't talking to me, but....

Good luck.

(Don't know if you read the whole dialogue between us here, but it is mind-bending to me...I gave it up)

"there are a lot more

"there are a lot more troubling things about BHO... a whacky minister isn't one of them."

It doesn't help though, or it shouldn't. They say a person is known by who he associates with. Obama willingly chooses to associate with a guy known to preach hate and racism. If I attended a church where hatred of ones country and other races was taught, I'd find another church. Obama decides to attend the church for 20 years, and hires the pastor to work on his campaign. That's why it should be a problem.

It won't be though, because he's, well, he's the chosen one.

"you do realize that attacks on the black church will lead to more polarization? It's way to early for this kind of sniping. And what will be the ramifications of the increased polarization?"

That's easy: 95% of blacks will vote for Obama. Guess what? They're going to anyway.

"Have any of you ever been to a black church? I'm just hoping for a lttle context here. "

Nope. Not sure why that's relevant though. According to another poster though, this type of thing is pretty common for black churches, which would make sense, because, if true, it explains a lot.

"there are a lot more

"there are a lot more troubling things about BHO... a whacky minister isn't one of them."

I don't know who said that, ckc, I can see you're quoting someone else.

That's true, it shouldn't be. But as long as we are going to have different standards, where some candidates have to jettison staff who step over the PC line, and Obama's wife and crew and friends are free to spew whatever thy want, without consequence, then this is going to be an issue.

I think you misunderstood

I think you misunderstood me, Motherbelt. I think who he chooses to associate with should be an issue. But I don't think it will be, because I think he's going to get a pass on just about anything that comes up.

If I misunderstood you, sorry about that.

I didn't misunderstand you,

I didn't misunderstand you, ckc, we are on the same page. I was commenting on the quote you had at the top of your post...It was obvious you were quoting from someone else's comment, or from the post...I was trying to get across the point that my difference wasn't with you, it was with whoever made that statement that you quoted.

Maybe, as that person said, his minister shouldn't be an issue, but he will be as long as they keep expecting everyone else to fall on their swords for un-PC statements. But you are right, he and his crew will probably be allowed a pass.

Rev. Wright & O'Bamanation

O'Bama picked this preacher and his church. If these are the friends he picks, then God help us all. This "Preacher"  preaches nothing but hate! They are both as slick as all the other "preachers" of this kind..........Sharpton, Jackson, etc. "Bama is better at being a slick and smooooooth talker.  People, watch your back!

Dano... "Bama is better

Dano...

"Bama is better at being a slick and smooooooth talker.

BINGO!

His sweet nothings will be scrutinized with time IMHO.

Mitt Romney's being a

Mitt Romney's being a practicing Mormon? Problem because he is a Republican.

Barack Obama regularly attending the black equivilent of a Sunday meeting of the Nazi Party?  No problem, he's a liberal Democrat.

Eliot Spitzer having multiple contacts with an "escort"?  No problem, he's a liberal Democrat.

Larry Craig alleged contact with another man?  Problem because he is a Republican.

Robert Byrd's long membership in the KKK? No problem, he's a liberal Democrat.

Trent Lott giving a speech praising 100 year old Strom Thurmond?Problem because he is a Republican (and worse, a Republican praising a Republican!!).

John Kerry doing campaign speeches and soliciting donations from a church pulpit? No problem, he's a liberal Democrat.

George Bush going to church on Sunday? Big problem, because the church a conservative attends indicates that what he thinks, feels, etc. and he's a Republican.

So, why am I not surprised Obama's regular attendance of this hate America organization, prentending to be a church, will get buried by the MSM?

If a car in the McCain

If a car in the McCain Jackson headquarters parking lot had a state flag sticker on the bumper; they would be screaming for an appology from McCain and that he distance himself from it.

This is a man Obama chooses to go to. He needs to speak up. He owes more than an appology.

Obama's new theme song

Obama could have his theme song be "God Damn America", sung to the tune of "God Bless America".

I'm sure someone with a boombox could volunteer to play it for him with a sign that says, "Text written by Obama's pastor and spiritual director".
