Forget the popcorn: it could take a case of Cognac and a humidor of good cigars to fully savor the warfare that's breaking out in Dem ranks. Who could have predicted that Keith Olbermann would be accusing a prominent Clinton team member and former Dem VP candidate of making a "clearly racist" statement evoking the apartheid era in South Africa? And yet . . .
On this evening's Countdown, Olbermann and Newsweek's Howard Fineman were discussing Geraldine Ferraro's remarks about Obama and the way the Clinton campaign, far from denouncing them, sent out campaign manager Maggie Williams to try to turn the tables, accusing Obama of "false, personal and politically calculated attacks" for having the audacity to complain.
View video here.
HOWARD FINEMAN: It's clear to me the Clinton people aren't going to back down. As you saw, they sent Maggie Williams out with a statement to defend Geraldine Ferraro who's defending herself. So this is the fight the Clintons want, the way they want to fight it.
KEITH OLBERMANN: So the senator wants a clearly racist, clearly equal-opportunity-is-not-a-good-thing, that's-the-only-reason-he's-here kind of statement interjected into the campaign? It's not just somebody not judging a negative to something? This right now, this reaction right now is intentional?
And a bit later, discussing the Clinton campaign strategy.
OLBERMANN: Does it not have disaster written all over it, or are we living in South Africa?
Love the smell of MSM napalm in the evening?

Liberals are so
March 11, 2008 - 20:59 ET by mostlymoderateLiberals are so hypocritical. ROFL. They are completely supportive of affirmative action UNTIL it is THEIR job that is up for grabs. It is no surprise that Clinton is trying to inject racism into the campaign. Oh, and I agree with Geraldine Ferraro. Sorry, but I do. I think a lot of people would like to see a black President so we can get past that hurdle. Unfortunately, I was hoping it would be someone like Colin Powell.
The libs are in a quandry
March 11, 2008 - 20:56 ET by c5thenThey are so used to just pushing the minority over the white-guy without any thought for the substance. Now they have two minorities vying for the nomination. What will they do? They have all taken sides and are now busy flaming the other side, because they don't understand how to have a civil debate and disagree with each other.

March 11, 2008 - 21:07 ET by CooltomThose supporting Obama never fail to mention that he would be the first African-American President and practically demanding the overwhelming support of blacks and liberals because of this fact.
Blacks are supposed to take pride in his blackness and vote accordingly. How do you think the press would react if someone said he was going to vote for McCain simply because he is white? And male?
Ferraro is right. Without his black background, Obama would simply be a more glib Dennis Kucinich hovering around the 1% threshold.
Obama is like a black John
March 12, 2008 - 09:48 ET by LastlibertarianObama is like a black John Edwards. Both are polished and practiced politicians. His message is no more special or specific. It doesn't have any unique ideas.Whites just like the novel idea of voting for a non-offensives black and blacks are just voting along racial lines like they do in every single election in the country.
And where would she be?
March 12, 2008 - 15:14 ET by docbThe junior senator, Hclinton, would be nowhere if she had not done a Tammy Wynette and stood by her name over and over and over.
Ferraro and the clintons made a calculated judgement to take this risk..Ferraro made a similiar statement about Jesse Jackson in 1988 and it slid by to his disadvantge. Ferraro and hclinton are old warhorses that know how to use the well placed slur or innuendo to divert attention away from their unsubstantuated experience or bad behavior. The campaign can not afford to fire Ferraro-- Ferraro will take the hits and she raises a lot of MONEY...which they NEED. Note how she, Ferraro, played the victim card and tried to put hillery back in the sympathy seat. Smooth but no banana. The Spitzer episode should bring to mind the scandals of the clinton administrations and the hypocracy of the individuals at the center of the current campaign.
We maybe need a few more nails to seal this coffin but they will be forth coming.

March 11, 2008 - 23:06 ET by kgIt was the Obama hour on Mister Olbermann's show with a few Fox and Bush smart a$$ remarks thrown in there to break the monotony. I really loved my large screen TV until I saw his huge face on it and had to turn it off. Now why would MSNBC zoom in onto his already big head so I can actually count his nose hairs. To make matters worse he is doing a female action (no offence) of mocking someone and thinks he sounds like that person as he mumbles in a sarcastic way. Where does he come up with this crap. Why does MSNBC pay this guy to act like an idiot?

the ultimate affirmative action program.
March 11, 2008 - 22:43 ET by needleLet’s see:
1) A man with absolutely no national presence becomes the leading contender for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
2) He has absolutely NO accomplishments accrediting him for being a president (beyond being able to tie his shoes), in fact not even a single piece of legislation during his [short] tenure as a Senator. Perhaps the single non-accomplishment that qualifies him as a Democratic candidate is that he never served in any capacity to defend our country.
3) He has absolutely NO name recognition prior to his throwing his hat into the ring, except that his middle name is “Hussein.” Considering that “Hussein” is psychologically fairly closely related to “Hitler,” which is customarily, frequently, and preferentially used by liberals as a synonym for “Satan,” any mention of Obama’s middle name is a taboo strictly and fiercely enforced by Liberals. (I think it is quite possible that, if Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is elected as President of the United States with the Democrats in control of Congress, the Democrats will pass, perhaps even as their very first bill, a law making it a crime to mention in print, or by word of month, the President's middle name.)
With all of this being the situation, remarkably Geraldine Ferraro (D) steps forward, with her credentials of being a previous Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, and dares to pronounce the Truth: namely, that this incredible conjunction of circumstances is only explainable in light of the fact that this particular individual is Black. Of course, this is the Truth. Everybody knows it is the Truth. But the problem is that it is the same kind of Truth as the proverbial king’s new clothes. But there is one part of the Truth that is missing, at least in explicit form, in Ms. Ferraro observation. And what is that? It is that the Liberals, the Left, and the Democrats are obsessed to the point of lunacy and beyond with racism, and they feel that they can only offset the stain of racism in the past with counter balancing spasms of reverse racism in the present. They feel that if they just hand the presidency to a Black man, any Black man, without ANY regard for qualifications, maybe the sins of their ancestors (or their own sins that they cannot face) can be expiated. (What is especially ironic here is that the Liberals, the Left, and the Democrats are secular to their core, and do not actually believe in Sin!)
Actually what this is all about is their advancing the ultimate affirmative action program.
Well, at least this put the lie to all the debates, all the pronouncements, and all the breast beating about policies, credentials, experience, etc. as some sort of determinant of presidential timber. It is hardly any wonder that Democratic candidates are such flakes.

March 12, 2008 - 09:16 ET by Indiana JoeI would make one minor change. This was pointed out to me years ago, and has been a small red flag ever since: there's no such thing as "reverse racism." Racism is racism is racism, against anyone, anytime.
LMAO, I just love the irony
March 12, 2008 - 10:34 ET by dscottLMAO, I just love the irony of Ferraro's "truth", because her "truth" is equally applicable to Hillary Clinton. Ferraro is engaging in the time honored liberal tactic of accusation by Projection. Were it not for a confluence of events of her being the first lady of a Dem whom they had to gag while defending, they had to support Hillary in the Senate bid since she was a woman, and now she without any real qualifications stands at the verge of getting the Dem nomination for President. Hillary is where she is soley because she is a woman, a male would not have had such an opportunity otherwise John Edwards would be the Dem front runner.
As I said a few months ago, the fight in the Dem party is over who has the greater victim status, blacks or women. No other qualification is relevant to them beyond having a "D" behind their name. This is evidenced by no former governors, generals or CEOs having made the cut. On the Repub side, our choices were co-opted by the MSM.
I have to agree with Oblerman, Ferraro's statement was racist by the very fact she implied his race, and I will add that any Dem uttering the same truths about Hillary will would be equally sexist. That is the conundrum of victim based politics. I can't even imagine the mind boggling double think that has to occur for them to unwind the mess they got themselves into. Bahahahaha

Geraldine Speaks the "Inconvenient" Truth
March 12, 2008 - 07:19 ET by cmarieInconveniently for Obama, Geraldine Ferarro has spoken the truth - that everyone watching this election season knows. Obama has only gotten this far because of his claiming to be African American.
The post by Needle is right on target. If Obama had the qualifications, the experience and truly was uniting the country, that would be one thing. However the FACT is Obama is doing the opposite and creating HUGE racial divides. He is constantly playing the race card and this is absolutely horrendous. It's reprehensible that the MSM fuels this idiocy and I will be outraged if the American public kowtows to these bullying tactics.
In addition to Obama's naive perspective of the world and his inability to put forth specific policy proposals, he has also surrounded himself with highly questionable and controversial advisors.
Zogby is president of the Arab American Institute who has ties to and has supported radical anti-Israel extremist groups, Brzezinski is anti-Israel and helped Osama bin Laden gain his foothold, Soros also supports radical extremists, Pritzker used to be head of the notorious “Savings and Loans” Superior Bank, one of the worse offenders of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. And please don't forget Obama's long-time friend of 20 years, Syrian native Tony Rezko on trial now in Chicago for corruption charges.
But to call out the truth about Obama is racist. Come on people - WAKE UP - Obama's candidacy is ALL about racism and is an insult to Martin Luther King's great legacy. Furthermore, the dem 08 presidential race is a complete and TOTAL sham. I'm a dem, but I'm voting McCain if Obama's on the dem ticket in November.
