Obama still has his fans in the MSM, or Hillary her detractors . . .

Appearing on this afternoon's Hardball, the seemingly mild-mannered Evan Thomas of Newsweek took a surprisingly tough shot at Clinton, disputing the very premise of her now-famous "it's 3 AM" ad. Discussing Hillary's comeback, Evans offered his blunt assessment with no real prompting.
EVAN THOMAS: What I don't get about this ad, the whole idea about 3 AM is you want coolness and detachment, right? She's not cool and detached. She's either really hot and angry, or she's icy cold and tough. But I don't think of her as cool. I think of Obama as being the cool, detached guy. Now maybe he doesn't have the experience, but I think if you peel this onion, there's something about it that just doesn't make sense to me. She doesn't strike me as the person who's the cool, detached, steady person at the other end of the phone.

Co-panelist Andrea Mitchell stepped in to defend Hillary.
ANDREA MITCHELL: I think that is what she projects, though. In the polling, her experience values seem to relate to people as being cool and detached.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Yeah, let me challenge this. Suppose--I always look at my daughter this way--who's 18. If I was in a car wreck and she came up to the car to help me out, put the things over my head to protect me from shock, deal with the first aid, she could handle it. She could handle the crisis. Don't you think Hillary Clinton's like that? Doesn't she come across as someone who's really good in a crisis who could handle a situation like a car wreck?
Thomas hung tough in the face of the double team.
THOMAS: No.

MATTHEWS: You don't.

THOMAS: I think she's often hot and angry in a crisis. And I think she can be steely cold in a crisis, and those can be useful. But I think the classic value that you look for in a middle-of-the-night crisis is somebody who is cool and detached. I just don't associate --
Matthews broke in, alluding to the heat he's been taking from Camp Clinton for his criticism of Hillary, and offering to trade places with Thomas.
MATTHEWS: Why don't you come over and sit in this chair, and you can take the heat for the next three months, and I'll sit over there and disagree with you!

It's a good thing

Rush didn't say this!

There is no sense in being stupid, if you can't prove it! - my dad V

Wow.  I think I want to

Wow.  I think I want to barf.  Looks like Evan Thomas is suffering from a little "man-love" for Obama.

temperment

Think Thomas knows hclinton real well... She is all blame, accusation and recrimination. There is no even temperment there...While we are at it just what has she 'delivered'? Quick name 3 things...

How about Quick, name ONE

How about Quick, name ONE thing? (Whispering into her husband's ear for pardons doesn't count).

Name one thing Hillary delivered?

Chelsea

LOL!

OK, you win! You're right on the ball this AM!!

You beat me! GMTA!

You beat me! GMTA!

docb: Um, Chelsea? ;-)

"Doesn't she come across as

"Doesn't she come across as someone who's really good in a crisis who could handle a situation like a car wreck?"

It all depends on just who was in the passenger seat with Bill...

This is such an inane comparison by Matthews, it isn't even worth addressing.

Kill The Messenger

As I'm sure anyone who has ever worked for a tyranical boss can attest, the most fearsome thing you can do is be the deliverer of bad news.  Unfortunately, the messenger is always in the wrong place at the wrong time but will always be the first sacrifical lamb, i.e. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?...Why did you think it was important enough to disturbe me?...etc., etc.

Bottomline...because of the reluctance to confront the "AH" with troubling news, it either goes unreported or is "scrubbed" resulting in a failed or less-than-desired result.

can you imagine

Can you imagine what Hillary looks like at 3am? Before she could meet with anybody, she'd have to make her face up. Otherwise, an Agent might shoot her thinking she was somebody else as she ran down the hall in a sheer bathrobe with curlers and cotton between her toes.

I don't even trust Hillary

I don't even trust Hillary with answering a telemarketing phone call.

You support the troops by supporting the mission! If you don't support the mission, have the guts to say you don't support the troops.

Matthews Response Prefectly Illustrates Media Bias

MATTHEWS: Why don't you come over and sit in this chair, and you can take the heat for the next three months, and I'll sit over there and disagree with you!

Simple Question: Why will Matthews take any heat his job is simply to report and comment?

His reply reveals his bias. He is not running for anything. The only reason he would feel heat is if pulling for a candidate and trying to make them look good in the press. Ah yes Mr. Matthews I can see now where the HEAT would come from. It is a hot spot trying to put up the appearance of unbiased while campaigning for a candidate.
