Can a picture be worth a thousand tears? Behold Chris Matthews in the depths of despair, contemplating the prospect that Obama-the-dreamer has lost to Hillary the machine candidate.
Schmoozing with Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on today's Morning Joe, Matthews had analogized Obama to Mozart the genius while casting Hillary in the role of the workmanlike but uninspired Salieri.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: You always talk about how we always put a dreamer out there, and we always believe, but in the end, machine always beats the man, John Henry always dies at the end --
CHRIS MATTHEWS: He loses to the railroad.
SCARBOROUGH: The railroad always win.
MATTHEW: Ugh, you're breaking my heart with my own story. It's a heartbreaking story. It's a heartbreak.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Bringing tears to his eyes!
SCARBOROUGH: This morning, is it not the case, this morning, Wednesday morning on January 30th, can we not say with certainty that once again the dreamer has died and the machine has won?
MATTHEWS: [Long pause punctuated by audible sigh.]
BRZEZINSKI: Wow! He's gonna cry!

January 30, 2008 - 11:49 ET by dscottChris, are you finally getting it? You finally acknowledge that the Clintons have rigged the nomination process in their favor? Tell us Chris, what's the point of voting if the party bosses are making the final decisions anyway? Obama is being used merely to validate the nomination process.
Instead of feeling sorry for yourself or getting mad that you and millions of Obama supporters have been used in a most unseemly way, why not get even??? Don't get mad, get even. Expose the Clinton supporters within the MSM, expose the fix with the super delegates and expose the Clinton's plan to have the Florida delegates counted. It should be apparent to you now that the Clintons played the entire process, by getting Obama and Edwards not to campaign in Florida or Michigan, and then going there herself, she cleverly duped those two into giving her exclusive time there.
Do you really want someone this Macheavellian in the Whitehouse? Even as a Democrat?

More tears on the Way
January 30, 2008 - 12:00 ET by JayTeeSince the MSM Talking Heads make Gradiose predictions based upon even the smallest Primary (NH), the emotional roller coaster will Continue until the Primaries are over.
If Billary Wins the Nomination and Obama is NOT included on the Ticket as her VP, Wild Bill and company will have guaranteed a Black vote backlash against them... and because of that...I'm gonna make a prediction that Obama has a Guaranteed VP position on the Ticket if he does NOT win the nomination.
After all, if Wild Bill will accept Al Gore, it's anyone's job to have.
Obama will NOT turn down a VP position........he has to accept.
Hillary doesn't swallow, but Obama will have to swallow his pride and accept what Hillary would not...after all, Bill will be the REAL VP, and Obama will be the Ceremonial VP.

Obama not guaranteed VP
January 30, 2008 - 13:25 ET by GalvanicI'm going to predict the opposite: Obama will not be the VP on a Hillary ticket. Here's why . . .
1.
The Clintons don't want a VP who might upstage them; hence, the
selection in '92 of Al Gore. Obama is more charismatic than
Hillary, so that leaves him out.
2. Anyone who accepts the
VP slot knows that he/she will likely get less public time than Dick
Cheney. That's because it's a Bill-Hill Show. In the
unprecented role as ex-President/First Spouse, and begging for the
spotlight he has missed since 2000, Bill Clinton will behave like both
VP and Ambassador to the World. A VP with post-office political
aspriations will find few opportunies to shine.
3. Hillary needs to bolster her security credentials, especially if
she's running against McCain; Obama doesn't help. She will select
retired Army general and Clintonista Wesley Clark.
4.
With Obama out, the black Democratic vote will return to Hillary, as
long as her husband hasn't pissed them off too much.
5.
The Clintons are scandal prone. In addition to the old baggage,
new stories are developing (e.g. convicted felon Norman Hsu).
Just as Gore got tainted by the Clintons, so too does Obama see the
risk there.
6. Even if Hillary has (God forbid) two terms, Obama would be young enough to go at it again in '2016.
I think Obama is too smart to be tied to the Clintons.

Amazing
January 30, 2008 - 12:28 ET by iveseenitallAmazing. Even Chris Matthews is beginning to realize what the citizens of this country are up against. The giant political machine will win in the end-- Clinton vs. McCain. Clinton wins because McCain is a loser who's in it to get a moment in the limelight. Just as with Dole, it's now his turn to lose. So enjoy another Clinton presidency, Chris. But in your darkest, most honest moments, admit to yourself how wrong you've been all these years.

Chris Matthews: Whoa, Nelly!
January 30, 2008 - 12:50 ET by lgeubankAs Oscar Wilde said, you have to "have a heart of stone to read the death of Little Nell without laughing."
Chris Matthews, our own Little Nelly, is so heartbroken about the impending political demise of a black nobody full of glittering generalities! If Obama weren't black, people would have brushed him off long ago, saying, "What chutzpah! Go get a few years of experience before you start wanting to run the country."
But everybody's so eager to show THEY'RE no bigots, they'll punish themselves by wanting to elect ANY black who comes along. Matthews, our little Nelly, is just one of these flagrant self-flagillators.

Now if there's a smile on my face,
it's only there tryin' to fool the public,
but when it comes down to foolin' you;
Now honey, that's quite a different subject.
But don't let my glad expression
give you the wrong impression.
Really I'm sad.
Oh, sadder than sad.
You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad.
Like a clown I pretend to be glad.

Now there's some sad things known to man,

the tears of a clown
when there's no one around.

MATHEWS IS AN IDIOT...
January 30, 2008 - 13:05 ET by danybhoyDoes anyone care to inform Mathews that the fix is in? "Billary" is gonna be on the ballet in November. Somehow she will find a way to get Michigan & Florida delegates seated, & will be awarded most of the "superdelegates"(60% of the delegates available). Since Clinton Inc is involved, I would be shocked if this did NOT happen
Think about this, when you watch MSNBC's election coverage with Mathews & BathTubBoy, it's sort of like their version of Hannity & Colmes. Except the fair & balanced part is a Billary shill & an Obama shill, instead of liberal & conservative. Amazing...

January 30, 2008 - 15:50 ET by dscottBeing an Obama supporter, what's your take on Hillary's chances of getting the Florida and Michigan delegates to vote in the nomination process?
Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. dscott's corollary: The line between malice and stupidity is called depraved indifference.
Very high.
January 30, 2008 - 16:37 ET by Missouri Conservative1. The Clintons still have the vast majority of the DNC poo-bahs' testicles in their lockbox.
2. Michigan and Florida are extremely important states to the Democrats. Michigan is the home of the labor unions and a large amount of black voters. Florida is a big state with a lot of electoral votes, a lot of Hispanics, and a lot of other minorites. Hillary will set this up as a slap in the face to those respective states by the national elites in the party (causing further divisions within the DNC). They will be forced to recognize them come convention time.
