'Now That She's Tanking'

This one could leave a mark.

As MSMers go, A.B. Stoddard has been one of my favorites during this campaign season for her grown-up, no-nonsense style. The Associate Editor of The Hill is not someone given to flights of overblown rhetoric. That's why I was so struck by the brutal assessment of Hillary's predicament Stoddard just offered on MSNBC. The topic was Clinton's 11th-hour openness, reflected in her granting an interview to Access Hollywood to discuss her personal side, and epitomized during a campaign stop today when she got a bit misty while discussing the campaign and her hopes for America.

Norah O'Donnell invited Stoddard and WaPo's Chris Cillizza to psychoanalyze Clinton's latest move. At first it seemed Stoddard could be on her way to concluding that Hillary might have discovered a winning strategy. But suddenly, down came the axe . . .

A. B. STODDARD: I applaud her for doing this. She's making an attempt to make herself, turn herself into -- show the voters she's a real human being [sounds like A.B.'s not so sure she is]. But it's something she should have done ten months ago. It's what people want to hear. They want to know that you do the same things that you do. That you go fishing, you go to church, you leave the laundry basket in the hall too long. They want to hear this stuff. She refused to talk about this kind of thing. And now that she's tanking, it's just too late for her.

Ouch.

On Stoddard, you mean..  right?

And now that she's tanking, it's just too late for her.

As much as I'd like to believe this, I think it's too strong a statement, too soon.

I guess we wont be visted

I guess we wont be visted upon with a redention of "You like me , you really really like me".  At least I pray we wont.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Mark, considering ALL the attention she's been getting . .

her little "teary eye" has gotten her plenty of press and media slobber.

There is no sense in being stupid, if you can't prove it! - my dad V

Agreed, but it's a very

Agreed, but it's a very risky strategy. Might win her a few sympathy votes, but could lead many to conclude she's not ready to be Commander-in-Chief.

Mark, No woman is. Its

Mark,

No woman is. Its just a fact that females don't have the male instinct to be quickly decisive and brutal. That's why women are not in combat roles in the U.S. And Israelis stopped putting women in combat roles many many years ago.

Oh, and no whining please from females or others who think I'm literally saying all females. In general, this is a fact. There are always exceptions.

The Hildabeast may be that

The Hildabeast may be that exception, she is cold calculating and desisive in her obsession.  That is not saying she would make a good President but she does have those qualities you mentioned.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I'm guessing that Margaret

I'm guessing that Margaret Thatcher is one of those exceptions? Although, I would never think that a woman like her would cry.

I actually think that a conservative woman would be strong enough to be POTUS. But a liberal would be too weak and sympathize too much with our enemies.

In your first line you said

In your first line you said "no woman is".  Then, you say "in general this is a fact.  There are always exceptions."

You make zero sense.

down the drain

Seven years of traveling around the country campaigning down the drain. But at least she still has those millions of dollars donated to her. Perhaps she will shore up their off shore accounts.

She has too much invested,

She has too much invested, including her pride. That's why I don't think she'll quit.

But I do believe Stoddard has nailed it. "Now that she is tanking" people will see this for the emotional play, and ploy, that it is.

This is a total setup...

I'm sorry, but the Clinton machine simply does not give up that easily.  And when Hillary rises from the ashes because of her organization, the media will be screaming from the top of their lungs about her being the 2nd coming of the Comeback Kid!!!

It's all calculated...even the rumors that the Clinton campaign is frantic.  Every bit of it is cold and calculated.

These people watch and diagnose the polls better than anyone.  They know exactly where they stand.  They know that Obama cannot sustain the young vote when 23 states vote simultaneously.

She will overcome.  And when she does, that will be the party's message in the General Election.

You're right on the money

But even if this isn't true, the GOP should act as if it is.

Remember:  Bush didn't do very well early in the 2000 campaign...

Ms. Clinton is not done until she quits the race or until someone else gets the Democrat nomination...and even then, she could run as veep, and try to stay viable for 8 more years and run in 2016...

I won't rest easy until she's truly out of the running.

deja vu?

"In 1992, Clinton was the early favorite of the Democratic Party for the presidential nomination and was able to garner the support of many superdelegates even before the first nominating contests were conducted. However, Clinton's presidential bid ran into difficulty in the opening weeks. First he finished well behind in the Iowa caucus(as did Hillary), which was largely uncontested due to the presence of Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, who subsequently won. Secondly the campaign encountered difficulty when, during the New Hampshire Primary campaign, revelations of a possible extramarital affair with Gennifer Flowers began to surface. Clinton and his wife Hillary decided to go on 60 Minutes(watch for a 60 Minutes for Hillary coming soon) following the Super Bowl to refute these charges of infidelity, as Clinton had fallen far behind former Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas in the New Hampshire polls. (same this year, only different names)

Their television appearance was a calculated risk, but it seemed to pay off as Clinton regained several delegates. He finished second to Tsongas in the New Hampshire primary, but the media viewed it as a moral victory for Clinton, since he came within single digits of winning after trailing badly in the polls. Clinton shrewdly labeled himself "The Comeback Kid" on election night to help foster this perception and came out of New Hampshire as the leader by a large percentage. Tsongas, on the other hand, picked up little or no momentum from his victory.

Clinton used his new-found momentum to win many of the Democratic Southern primaries, including the big prizes of Florida and Texas, and build up a sizable delegate lead over his opponents in the race for the 1992 Democratic presidential nomination. However, there were still some doubts whether he could secure the nomination, as former California Governor Jerry Brown was scoring victories elsewhere and Clinton had yet to win a significant contest outside of his native South.

With no major Southern state remaining on the primary calendar, Clinton targeted the New York primary,(umm...isn't she a Senator here?) which contained a large number of delegates and was to be his proving ground. He scored a resounding victory in New York City. He finally shed his image as a regional candidate. Having been transformed into the consensus candidate, he secured the Democratic Party nomination, finishing with a victory in Jerry Brown's home state of California." wiki

"They want to know that you do the same things that you do. That you go fishing, you go to church, you leave the laundry basket in the hall too long. They want to hear this stuff. "  Is this woman on drugs.  So, these women that were at this function, now feel Hillary has conveyed to them that she's just like them.  Really?  She's probably never gone fishing; the only time she goes to a church is when the blacks invite her to speak; and she hasn't seen anything in a hall in ages since they found the Rose Law Firm billing records on a table; and we're all to feel for her.  Two questions: were any of these women from NH?  And, who asked the question that made her so emotional?  Answer those two questions, and look for Bills fingerprints.  By the way, Billy Boy took a call from Hill while at another function - must have watched Rudy.

Hogwash!

I think that's an old Arkansas saying when speaking of a Clinton.  Can't believe a word spoken or an emotion emoted by those two. I only saw the "weepy moment" on my small laptop screen, but I sure didn't see the "tears" that I keep hearing about. Kinda like watching Bill nibble on his lower lip when pretending to give a @#$%.

I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille!

An interview with Access Hollywood?

Showing her emotional human side?

This sounds like a Hollywood B movie produced by Clinton pals Harry and Linda Thomasson.

Now that she's tanking

While I'll admit I love reading those words regarding Hillary, we can't count her out yet! She didn't enter into the race to take her toys and go home after a few setbacks. She's, in her words, "in it to win it", and will pull out all the stops to get to the office she feels she was born for.

Most interesting part of

Most interesting part of the Hillary clip is backwards is exactly where she and the other dems want to take us.

Personally, I hope predictions of her demise are premature. I want her to be the Dem candidate.

Yes, it is too soon.  Too

Yes, it is too soon.  Too soon.

Hillary is normal?

The day Hillary Clinton goes to Church, goes fishing and leaves laundry baskets SHE IS DOING LAUNDRY FOR is the day that will be deemed abnormal.

This is the woman who gave her used underwear to the poor to write it off as a tax deduction.

Hillary Clinton ain't normal and wouldn't have a clue what a normal human ENJOYS doing in life as she is one miserable old woman.
