When Jimmy Carter pulled the Persian rug out from under the Shah, we wound up with the Ayatollah Khomenei and a line of spiritual/political descendants culminating in Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Terence Jeffrey has now pointed out that by her highly-critical statements undermining Pervez Musharraf, Hillary Clinton could be precipitating an even worse disaster in Pakistan. The editor-in-chief of CNS News.com, NB's sister organization, has thus described Clinton as "Jimmy Carter on steroids."
At about 4:15 PM ET today, CNN aired a Wolf Blitzer interview of Clinton notable for these two statements by her.
View video here.
WOLF BLITZER: Do you trust the Pakistani government right now to conduct a full and fair investigation [of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto] so that all of us around the world will know who killed this woman, and how she was killed?
HILLARY CLINTON: I don't think the Pakistani government at this time under President Musharraf has any credibility at all. They have disbanded an independent judiciary, they have oppressed a free press. Therefore I'm calling for a full, independent, international investigation.
And a bit later.
BLITZER: Since 9-11 the United States has provided the Pakistani military with some $10 billion. Will you as a United States senator continue to vote for these billions of dollars continuing to go to the Pakistani military?
CLINTON: No. And I'm very pleased that finally congress began to put some conditions on the aid.
Jeffrey appeared about a half-hour later.
TERENCE JEFFREY: I'll say this, Wolf. I think all of a sudden Hillary Clinton has become Jimmy Carter on steroids on foreign policy. Back in the late 1970s we had an authoritarian leader in the Middle East, the Shah of Iran, who was a good ally of the United States, shared interests with the United States. He was threatened by a revolutionary Islamic movement, and Jimmy Carter all of sudden started wringing his hands and basically withdrew our support from a friend there.
I think Hillary Clinton is basically doing to Musharraf what Jimmy Carter did to the Shah, and the potential consequences are far greater, Wolf. We're talking about a regime that already has nuclear weapons, al Qaeda is already present on the ground there, they have a massive Islamist movement. If we try to meddle too much in their internal politics what we could end up with is our worst nightmare: an Islamist regime armed with a nuclear weapon that's friends with al Qaeda.

Hopefully
December 28, 2007 - 18:33 ET by BlazerHopefully Hill will catch the first nuke from Iran or Pakistan right in the keister.
Of course once embedded in all of that evil the nuke will probably tuck it's tail between it's leg's and start whimpering.
If Pakistan and it's nukes fall into radical hand's she and her liberal ilk will just say it's Bush's or the GOP's fault. The media of course will be their echo chamber.

That has to be included in the 2007 "Best Quotes!"
It sums up Shrillary's foreign policy in four words, and the implications are terrifying for any historically minded American.
Another posting on NB stated Hillary's friendship with Bhutto was another qualifying factor for her. So, my grandfather's friendship with Harry Truman (a picture with him - which probably matches Hillary and Bhutto's depth) qualified him while he was alive, right?
Stl, if your grandfather
December 29, 2007 - 20:08 ET by MikeBStl, if your grandfather was a Democrat, he is still eligible to run for office. After all, the dead are a large voting bloc for the Democrats, so the dead should be proportionally represented in elected office. I also suspect most, if not all, of the Democrats running for office are of the undead, considering their desire to drain us of the life-blood of our economy.

December 29, 2007 - 10:28 ET by misterbee241Have you ever noticed liberals always preface everything they say with "I believe" or "I think"? Dont these people KNOW anything?
And I dont for one minute believe President Hillary would cut any foreign aid, to Pakistan or anywhere else.
I think she and Bush should mind their own business and let Pakistan settle this mess.

December 29, 2007 - 07:07 ET by motherbeltActually I think Her Royal Clintoness looks like she just got her weekly hit of Botox or whatever....the skin around her eyes looks a little tight, and her cheeks are not sagging...although they don't have that round apple look they sometimes have...she might be trying to cut down.....
This is the experience she brags about?
December 28, 2007 - 19:40 ET by KC MulvilleBy the way, Mrs. Clinton, Pakistan is a sovereign nation.
When you're a Democrat senator and you don't think the Republican president is telling the truth, you call for an independent investigation. That may make sense inside the DC Beltway. But no one can possibly be so stupid or so narrow-minded as to think the same tactic will play well in Pakistan. This is an inexcusable shallowness.
Excellent Point
December 28, 2007 - 21:39 ET by Gat New YorkIt's a point that Hillary and Richardson and other Democrats have lost sight of - it's NOT their country!
The Pakistanis have had these problems before and have resolved them. They don't need lectures from Hillary.
They should decide if Musharaff steps down or not.
Additionally, if Ms. Experience had any (experience) she would know that it is in our country's national interest to #1 secure the nukes and not do anything that will allow for another Iran and nukes in the hands of Al Qaeda. Democracy can wait.
I think this should be the sound bite that once and for all finishes off Hillary's chances at the White House - no more Jimmy Carters!
Pakistan may just "finish off"

Mrs Clinton's huge gaffe = no media comment
December 29, 2007 - 05:45 ET by Jack BauerRemember the lies and fantasies Hillary repeatedly tells about herself?*
Such as: she was named in 1947 to honor Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Everest in 1953. She wanted to join the Marines, but denied because of "sexism." She was a pickup Basketball player (no kidding). She and Bill are still "married."
Well CBS reports her as saying:
But apparently Mrs. Clinton didn't know Bhutto all that well, except in the sense that she met her once whilst enabling her womanizing husband who happened to be President.
According to India's Economic Times, Bhutto leaves three children: son Bilawal, 19, and daughters Bakhtawar and Asifa, 17 and 14 respectively.
You think the MSM is going to mention this HUGE GAFFE, like say,if Rudy Giuliani said it?
*Reposted with more info from previous thread. And just to emphasize, I only use the term "huge gaffe" because that's how it would be characterized had ANY Republican President or Presidential candidate made that basic factual error.

December 29, 2007 - 20:02 ET by Army BratA little off topic but...
How many heard about Jimmy killin' his neighbors cat with a shotgun? He left em' a note apologizing, indicating he just meant to scare it...with a shotgun. Right. In the note he states that he was in his usual place, "under the bird feeder". (WAY too much time on his hands!)
He offered to buy them a similar cat when he returned from overseas. Like a pet was a commodity you replace with a similar item. Twit. Having learned that about him recently, makes many of his past actions more understandable. He is truly clueless.
