Mika Brzezinski: back on the crime beat with another loopy liberal take on reality . . .
Yesterday, the resident lefty on the Morning Joe panel -- defying the facts of the volunteer guard who stopped the Colorado church shooter -- labeled as "the most inane thing" she'd ever heard the notion that one armed citizen could make a difference.
Today, in a breathtaking bit of revisionist history, Brzezinski tried to credit notoriously lax former Mayor David Dinkins rather than Rudy Giuliani for making NYC safe. So fierce was the return fire from Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough that, as pictured here, Mika ultimately took refuge under a sheaf of paper.
View video here.
At about 8:10 AM ET, Matthews and Scarborough were discussing the way that, thanks to Giuliani, they felt safe in NYC at night.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: I can walk around the streets of New York City at two in the morning and not be afraid for my life.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: I'm an out-of-towner too and I felt that. I know exactly where I was. I was at the Barnes & Noble in SoHo right near the Angelica Theater, that great movie theater there. And I was with my two kids, they were young teenagers at the time. And we were just hanging around at 10:30 at night, hanging around the city of New York and feeling great. And I said "I haven't felt like this in my lifetime in a big city." It felt like we had a right to be there. It was unusual!
SCARBOROUGH: It is really a miracle that I feel comfortable with my children, my teenage boys, walking around New York City at night. I would not feel that way if they were in Atlanta or Washington or Cleveland --
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: OK, is this because of Giuliani's work as mayor?
SCARBOROUGH: You're damn straight it is.
BRZEZINSKI: Because some people argue --
SCARBOROUGH: Some people, my ass.BRZEZINSKI: it was actually the work done by the previous mayor that finally kicked in.
SCARBOROUGH: David Dinkins?!
BRZEZINSKI: I'm just saying.
SCARBOROUGH: Please, tell me you are not that liberal that you are crediting the [unintelligble, perhaps "laughingstock"]--
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Mika, I've got two words for you.
BRZEZINSKI [going into defensive posture]: Oh no!
MATTHEWS: Crown Heights.
BRZEZINSKI: Crown Heights, when the guy [Dinkins] couldn't decide between the killers of, what's his name, Yankel Rosenbaum, the Talmudic scholar, and the people that killed him. He [Dinkins] was the [saracastically] honest referee. Wait a minute, as Churchill said, don't confuse the fire brigade with the fire. We're on the side of the fire brigade.

Get Rid Of Her
December 12, 2007 - 14:28 ET by NoMoreClintonsHow does MessNBC continue to employ this clueless dingbat? Even a local station would have dumped her sorry butt by now out of sheer embarrassment.

December 12, 2007 - 14:50 ET by cvgbuckeyeSorry, No More, but she is only different from the rest in that she is to stupid to shut her mouth about her ignorant wiew of the world;;;;;;;;just to shut up EVERY HOUR OR SO!!!
Bernie Goldberg is right: Some of these ignoramouses would pass a lie detector, claiming that they are not lefties. They honestly believe that they are in the mainstream and are providing an honest perspective of the world. The problem is where they live, who they work with and who their friends are. THERE ARE NO CONSERVATIVES OR CENTRISTS IN THE NEWSROOMS; save a trifling here and there.
Dinkmeister Revisionsim
December 12, 2007 - 15:13 ET by Gat New YorkLoon Liberals like this pseudo-newsperson, Mika, live off revisionism. They concoct complete distortions that support their political position - even if it means actually lying. In this case she is lying and you saw both Scarborough and Matthew's reactions. During the reign of the Dinkmeister I actually walked into the mugging of a British tourist around the corner from the Regency Hotel. Brazen muggings were common during the reign of the Dinkmeister and nothing - I mean nothing - was being done by him to stop crime. Mika is a bald faced liar. It also appears Scarborough has had about enough of her as time goes on.

Well if they can claim Jimmy Carter was a good president it isn't too much more of a stretch to claim Dinkins cleaned up the crime problem in NY.

December 12, 2007 - 15:27 ET by danybhoyBoy, this might be 1 of the dumbest things I've heard in a while. NYC's crime rate was out of control under Dinkins. Rudy did what needed to be done to bring crime to an acceptable level coming from a law & order backround. Rudy had to deal with crime as a prosecutor, so he had an idea of what would work to clean up NYC's crime problem, he turned out to be right.
Mika is working hard to become the dumbest woman in TV news, I'm happy to see she is at MSNBC, just the right place to find out how dumb someone can be without being yanked off of the air. If Scarborough had any brains, he would reel her in before she says something really bad.

She has to be kidding!
December 12, 2007 - 15:33 ET by keckkwThat comment needs to be followed up tomorrow morning with any facts supporting her ridiculous comment. I was a cop in the South Bronx beginning with Ben Ward under Mayor Koch's administration and ending with Bernie Kerik under Mayor Guiliani. At the Crown Heights riots, Mayor Dinkins was quoted as saying that the rioters were just "letting off steam", as hard-working business owners lives were ruined in the process. By the way, we cops were ordered to stand down and watch it for nearly three days. Dinkins commissioner Lee Brown was "out of town" at the time.
Murder was at it's worse in his adminstration. The big drops in homicide all happened under Rudy and his commish Bill Bratton.
Lastly, he paid for a a drug dealers funeral in the Dominican Republic after a (good police shooting), that still set off riots in Washington Heights that I think were even worse than Crown Heights. Witnesses of the shooting of Kiko Garcia by PO Michael O'Keefe were shown to have completely perjured themselves, yet Dinkins never sought their indictment. Which means basically that he'd never seen a policeman he liked.
What creditials does this woman have?, her commentary is a down right insult to viewers intelligence.

December 12, 2007 - 23:17 ET by raiderdavI don't think Giuliani should get credit for the crime reduction in NY either. Its no different than Bill Clinton getting credit for the economic boom surrounding the birth of the internet 'tubes'. The stats and economic data show that the crime reduction had already started under Dinkins and Rudy got the credit. I also doubt that the policies of Dinkins helped anything and that the downturn was based on other factors...
