CBS Reporter Calls Castro 'Idealistic'

Nothing says "idealistic" like brutally suppressing freedom and imprisoning courageous advocates of democracy. At least in the view of CBS News, apparently.

At 7:21 a.m. EDT on this morning's "Early Show," CBS's Kelly Cobiella reported from Havana on the occasion of Cuba's national day. Co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez asked Cobiella about the prospects for change.

CBS "EARLY SHOW" CO-ANCHOR MAGGIE RODRIGUEZ: There's no question that Fidel and [his brother] Raul are different types of leaders. I'm sure we'll see it when he speaks later. He doesn't have Fidel's charisma and he seems a little bit more open to change. As he solidifies his power, what kind of changes do you think Cubans can expect to see?

That's when Cobiella went into Fidel-fan mode . . .

CBS REPORTER KELLY COBIELLA: Well, [Raul] is very pragmatic, much more pragmatic than idealistic, like Fidel.

Looks like the MSM's infatuation with this bloody communist dictator will follow him to his grave.

Cobiella was born in

Cobiella was born in Frankfurt, Germany and grew up near Denver, Colo. She was graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in international studies and attended the Institut des Estudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence, France (1992-93). She lives in New York.

Well that certainly qualifies her to speak about Castro and Cuba. Yeh right. Maybe she should get off her pedestal and take her act down to Miami and report from there. Let's see if they agree with her perspective.

Gat, Just to add to your

Gat,

Just to add to your comment...the University of Wisconsin is probably the most liberal of all of the Big Ten schools. In the 60's it was a haven for every kind of radical. So the nut doesn't fall far from the tree, so to speak.

FYI Cobiella, I live in SW

FYI Cobiella, I live in SW Florida and in the last few months there have been several Cubans who have risked life and limb to come ashore on Sanibel Island! I don't think life in Cuba is as great as you would have your viewers think. You are a moron!

Which should remind us of

Which should remind us of Elian Gonzalez's mother who risked and lost her life to give her son freedom - only to have Bill Clinton take it away and ship him back to Castro.

Gat, You nailed it!

Gat,

You nailed it!

Lenin and Mao were pretty idealistic also

What's a few 10s of million of dead when you're trying realize an ideal?

I mean anything worthwhile has a cost, right?

}}}----> Idealistic

Hard to argue Timothy McVeigh wasn't idealistic.  Hitler too for that matter.  One can be committed to damn near anything.  Doesn't make it right.

That said, it is at least disingenuous to link such a term with its common connotation of goodness to Castro, McVeigh, or Hitler.

Spot on!

Great point CoolArrow!

Kelly Cobiella is a CASTROID.

CBS might as well be named the Communist Broadcasting Network.

Help Fred defeat everybody.

Mark, man are Fidel and Raul different.

"There's no question that Fidel and [his brother] Raul are different types of leaders"

Let's see, Fidel ordered the executions and Raul carried them out, sometimes personally.

ignorance

Kelly is modern education success story. She is ignorant as hell, yet calls herself a "journalist". Sad.

NEVER,NEVER trust a liberal

I'm an idealist, too, in that sense!

Ideally, all of my political enemies would be either dead or in jail.

Cobie + Castro = LV4Evr

I just love that screenshot of Cobiella - you can see that she is literally gushing about her idol Castro! And, the video is no less of an indictment.

Why is this blatant left-wing bias of the MSM so obvious to us, yet lost on the average "undecided" American? How they still get away with it is beyond me.

Thanks to you

Thanks to you guys I've seen the light. First time commenter long time reader...I am a women in my early thirties living in los angeles and working in the entertainment industry and was a die hard dem (uninformed and ingnorant) and now not so popular at parties anymore. GREAT point on your first post here ... and welcome!

Liberalism/dems build everything on feelings and intent.  If they are countered with cold hard facts they scream mean politics, racism, bigotry, phobias, and Nazism.

"Gimmie that ol' time

"Gimmie that ol' time Communism ... That ol' time Communism ..."

Come on, Kelly, sing along girlfriend! Librarians sitting in Castro's crap-hole prisons ... pick up on the chorus! Everybody now,

"That ol' time Communism ..."
