Lefties Accuse Kirk Cameron of Hate Speech for Christian Beliefs

By Lauren Thompson | March 08, 2012 | 11:44

There’s nothing the Hollywood left prizes more than the right to free expression. Just not Kirk Cameron’s free expression. The former “Growing Pains” actor appeared on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on March 2, where the host prodded him relentlessly about his traditional, Christian stance on gay marriage. When he didn’t back down from his beliefs, Hollywood screamed for him to be silenced.

Cameron told Morgan, “"Marriage is defined by God in the garden between Adam and Eve, one man, one woman for life, til-death-do-you-part", and said he would never attempt to re-define marriage – he did not support gay marriage because of his Christian beliefs. The reaction from Hollywood liberals was swift and over the top.

A plethora of celebrities and many of his former co-stars pounced. Gossip blogger, bully and gay activist Perez Hilton wasted no time in labeling him a "bigot" who suffers from "homophobia."

Roseanne Barr tweeted that “kirk or kurt or whatever cameron is an accomplice to murder with his hate speech. so is rick warren. their peers r killing gays in uganda.” That would be the Rosanne Barr the anti-Semite who recently called for beheading the rich right here in the U.S.

The gay rights group GLAAD struck back with charges that Cameron “sounds even more outdated than his 1980s TV character” and that he is “out of step with the vast majority of Americans.” They launched a petition called "Tell Kirk Cameron To Finally Grow Up", because of his so-called “hateful” remarks.

Joy Behar, co-host on “The View,” agreed that Cameron should have the right to free speech but expressed he should "just shut up" anyway.

Piers Morgan actually seemed to come to the defense of Cameron, tweeting that his testimony was “brave,” however Morgan couldn't resist a final jab at the Christian actor stating that “barbarus” is brave’s Latin origin.

Fran Drescher, star of “Happily Divorced” lectured Cameron in civics, telling CBS he should "reexamine what it is to be an American."

At the end of the day, Cameron refused to be bullied and called the left out on their hypocritical double-standard.

He told ABCNews.com, “I should be able to express moral views on social issues, especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years — without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach ‘tolerance’ that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square.”

Nicely done

Submitted by CobraMan on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 1:23pm.

Nicely done, mandrake! After all, most of da Vinci's work was clearly non-religious, clearly non-Christian, NOT!

Mandrake, da Vinci did most of his work for the Catholic Church! He was a devout Catholic who's religious beliefs were the very inspiration for his greatest works of art.

He didn't have to work for the Church, you know. There were plenty of others who were willing, eager even, to take his place. He worked for the Church because that Church, and the religious beliefs it instilled upon him, was his greatest passion. Does that sound like someone who was "secretly" a homosexual?

VD2000, No, but Gays ARE insisting that traditional people ACCEPT their lifestyles or we're all homo-something-or another. What you don't get or can't accept is that a small minority of people want to take what we hold dear, marriage, family, religious beliefs, etc and MAKE us call it okay.

It isn't going to happen, EVER. Do what you want with whomever you want, I really and truly don't care. But don't force me or indoctrinate my children and grand-children to accept it or else. I won't tell you how to live and what to believe, and I expect the same from you. It's called 'respect for the individual.'

Damn it! I can't actually think of a single civilization that openly embraced homosexuality and not only survived, but flourishes to this day, like those stupid, archaic, retrograde civilizations that do not openly embrace homosexuality (The Chinese, for an example. 5 thousand years of backwards thinking, like the idea of marriage is that of one man and one woman, and STILL they exist? What's up with that?) But there must be an example out there somewhere! Right? Right?

No one is asking for Christians to "embrace" the gays, or even to call it normal. Just allow them to get married in accordance to civil law, and stop telling Piers Morgan and Fox News that its going to end the world as we know it. Gays have been around forever, and they're not going away.

Submitted by Wrathful Brunette on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 1:49pm.

There is no "accordance with civil law" unless a new law is made for them, like in Massachusetts.
That's the problem most people have with the whole thing, because gays aren't simply asking to be left alone, they're demanding that others write new laws just for them. With the implied threat that if you don't go out of your way to accommodate and affirm their sexual behavior, you're a bigoted homophobe.

Because like it or not, regardless if a person is a homo or a hetero or anything, it still takes a man and a woman to create a baby.  That's an undeniable fact.

And don't anyone dare try to tell me that neither one is needed for creating a baby, yes, I know science is capable of it, but it's not a natural thing.

But if the population of homos should ever outnumber the population of heteros, the human race is in danger of extinction.  Biological extinction.

No one is asking for Christians to "embrace" the gays, or even to call it normal. Just allow them to get married in accordance to civil law,

That is simply not true.  Most of us have no problem with "civil unions", just don't ask us to call it marriage, because it isn't.  Marriage is between one man and one woman.  There have been numerous ballot initiatives in states across this country, approved by the voters, you may have heard of it, the Defense of Marriage act.  These ballot initiatives have been overwhelmingly approved by the voters.  Yet the Gay Lobby continues to push the issue.

Furthermore, the Left, via the teachers unions, have managed to insert the Gay Agenda into our public schools, with such books as "Heather Has Two Mommies".

So you are DEMANDING that we embrace the gay agenda, as if it were normal.

Now go find some new talking points.

There's nothing evolutionary about taking marriage, which is the joining of a man and a woman to create(if so desired) a child, into something that's a dead end and creates nothing.

Evolution doesn't work that way, human reproduction still requires a male and female, not a male and male or female and female.

No, you idiot,"having children" doesn't work the same way, there's always adoption, but kids don't get created in a factory(and yes, even that's in the works, God forbid).

You said it most correctly that men CAN'T have that luxury because it's PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.  You just deliberately forgot to include that last part.

I said it earlier and I'll say it again, a man or a woman could gay, but either one of them were created the same way, with a man and a woman.

Too bad this is too logical for you.  I never said anything about marriage without reproduction being made illegal because again, men can't have that luxury because it's PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, key word being reproduction.  Just because a gay couple adopts a kid doesn't mean they reproduced.

Correct CobraMan, but I might add that NO civilization, society or culture, even ones with permissive attitudes toward male homosexual behavior, has ever recognized "gay marriage." The occurences of male homosexuality in ancient pagan cultures was more akin to "situational homosexuality." "Marriage" has always been understood as male-female,with the purpose of providing for a stable foundation and propagation of society, by definition. The notion of a society-sanctioned non-male-female "marriage" is a completely foreign concept to history.

I read this on National Review (not sure who wrote it - think it was Jonah Goldberg) but I thought it was good enough to save it:

"Actually, we shouldn't be too surprised by any of this. Under the traditional definition of tolerance, the true definition, people amicably agreed to disagree with others whose beliefs or lifestyles were different than their own, as long as they weren't breaking any laws. But the problem is liberals changed the meaning of the word. By their definition, tolerance means we must all affirm the beliefs and lifestyles we disagree with and say that they are equal or even better to all other beliefs and lifestyles.
Thus, anyone who refuses to be tolerant – according to the revised definition of the word – is some sort of a hate-monger, some neo-Nazi, some racist/sexist/anti-gay nut who must not only be denounced, but silenced by whatever means necessary, whether it's a pie to the face or a bullet to the head."

There is a good reason for this

Submitted by c5then on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 12:25pm.

The leftist / socialist agenda does not tolerate differences of opinion nor will it tolerate free speech for those who disagree with it's agenda and goals.

Why do liberals get completely and absolutely extreme when the issues are about religion and especially Christianity and its tenants? It's because the liberal ideology is driven by Satan. He is the master of this world and he will suffer no opposition to his complete and total dominion.

MARRIAGE according to me

Submitted by I hate marxists on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 1:13pm.

Marriage is the joining of a man and woman who share common interests and love in good and bad times. It was God's plan since he put Eve into the life of Adam to grow in abundance offspring of their love and affection, to have families and a hierarchy from the beginning of time.
Marriage is not between two men or two women.
Now having said that, any leftist that wishes to have a confrontation with me then step right up and let's go for it.
As far as Kirk Cameron is concerned, he stands by his beliefs and is too damn bad that it differs from the leftist idiots. I'll stand with him anytime especially up against these bufoons.
Hey speaking of big noses and elephant heads has anyone seen Bill Maher lately? He looks like he could occupy one of the stalls at the Bronx zoo next to Ollie the elephant. I'll bet none of you could tell one from the other. Hey speaking of Rosanne Barr how many pairs of BOOBS does she own. Man if she bends over I'll bet you could draw the entire world on her arse.

“I should be able to express moral views on social issues, especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years — without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach ‘tolerance’ that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square.”

What a wonderful rebuttal by a wonderful Christian.   This man should run for office.

For those capable of grasping history beyond the current moment

Submitted by lotr on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 2:04pm.

While I commend Kirk Cameron for not backing down before the Media Inquisition, and for pointing out the hypocrisy of being preached to about the latest pop-morality fashion du jour, at the end of the day there was nothing really profound about what he said, nor is his position limited strictly to Christian dogma.

The fact is, a paltry 15 years ago pretty much everybody would answered the same way -- that they would be against the proposition of "gay marriage."

And 50 years ago (you know, back in the "dark ages" when John F. Kennedy was president), the "reporter" would've been laughed out of the room and probably fired from his job for asking such an asinine, oxymoronic question.

The Only

Submitted by Mark81150 on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 2:14pm.

The gay issue is stupid anyway, only 5% of the general population, and they have millions of people terrified to say anything which the gay lobby doesn't like, for fear of their career..

Christians, conservatives, men and especially conservative women are prime liberal targets. The activists are nothing more than a pink mafia working fist and fist with the ultra leftwing liberals to silence any conservative or traditional voice. They are only happy, when only their surragates hold the microphone, and will use any lie smear and slander to achieve that.

amazing that when their idiots fan out on the internet, they call our women sluts, accuse every conservative man of being in the closet, and then call them all evil and or crazy..

apperantly gay slurs are fine.. verbally assaulting women is ok

if it's a liberal accusing a conservative..

but a conservative saying being gay, is not healthy for the greater society, that's hate speech.. slips and says slut like the grand homies of the left.. and lets get out the tar..

I never used to hate anyone..

but the liberal left has taught me well,.. to hate them for their lies, distortions, their vile war against anyone who disagrees with their radical views.. it's a war.. and they drew first blood, and it will remain a war, till they remember how to act like a decent human being, and put being American ahead of being der uber liberal.

The truth will set you free

Submitted by russedav on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 3:34pm.

Sadly even dear Cameron and those defending him haven't a clue as to what they're saying/defending in our age of historical and especially Biblical illiteracy because history and the Bible clearly teach there's no such thing as the deranged, dimwitted "homosex-" or "gay" fraud, no matter the post-19th century Bible mistranslations that use the bogus "homosex-" to mistranslate "arsenokoitai," unlike in previous centuries when they were more educated and knew better. See "The gay invention" at www.touchstonemag.com for a fine article on how this is just a fascist propaganda war by vile lawless & thus fascist perverts like Kinsey to brainwash everyone into using their evil propaganda vocabulary instead of the Biblical vocabulary that used to control our former civilization/culture now perilously close to being lost, including today's fools who wickedly use "sex" as a verb instead of the only proper "have marital relations" of my '60s childhood days when both divorce and intimacy outside of true marriage versus today's counterfeits were a shocking rarity unlike our barbaric age of deranged lawless fascist lunacy where the inmates are running the asylum, especially seen in the white house.
Also see www.DrJudithReisman.org for how the deranged lawless and thus fascist pervert Kinsey (helped by his position with Indiana University) with connections with Nazi Germany, almost singlehandedly decimated America's moral jurisprudence. These clever fascist sodomite ploys (Adolf Hitler and his boyfriends) were amazingly successful and continue to today; we can only imagine the pull these perverts have at the white house. Only God can save us now.

Excellent advice

Submitted by Model850 on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 4:56pm.

Fran Drescher, star of “Happily Divorced” lectured Cameron in civics, telling CBS he should "reexamine what it is to be an American."

Outstanding advice, Fran. You should heed it, because last I checked Americans have the right to voice an opinion. And "what it is to be an American" is much, much broader than your apparently narrow view that all dissent against the gay lifestyle is un-American and that all Americans apparently are required to wholeheartedly embrace the practitioners of it.

And yes, I understand that this is not a First Amendment case as it is not government (directly) trying to silence Kirk. Nevertheless this is a free country -- though for how much longer is anybody's guess -- and Kirk has every right to speak his mind, just as his detractors have every right to criticize him for his views. Criticize -- NOT silence.

Tongue-in-cheek thought: If the opposite of homosexual is straight then doesn't it follow that the opposite of straight is warped?

The most radical and out-spoken members of the homosexual community always seem so angry and miserable I cannot understand why they label themselves as "gay."

Kirk Cameron on marriage

Submitted by Steve Cakouros on Thu, 03/08/2012 - 6:10pm.

Homosexual marriage is an oxymoron. We cannot marry our own gender. It is impossible for all the following reasons.

[1]Marriage is a sexual union. We are not designed so that we can have sex with our own sexual type. Homosexuality is an anatomical contradiction.

[2] Marriage is for the purpose of propagation within a family structure. Homosexuals cannot propagate.

[3] Marriage illustrates according to the New Testament the mystery of Christ in communion with His church. In that union Christ [He] is the groom and the church [she] is the submissive bride. Marriage is thus being defined in that passage. It therefore cannot be between two brides or two grooms. That would be impossible. The metaphor would break down. [see Ephesians 5:25-33]

I salute Kirk Cameron.

The Left must be crazy to try and further the agenda of deviates and child molesters who want to thought of as married. In old Greece they passed a law which said that any male found in the gymnasium [school] who was not a father to one of the students was sentenced to death. We need such laws.

I hope the queer community will recognize that homosexual marriages are flatly contradicted by both reason and revelation.

How about barren women and men who cant impregnate women? Will they also be not allowed to marry?

So you want to play definitions, Piers?

Submitted by metaphorsbwithu on Sat, 04/14/2012 - 3:19pm.

The word/name "Piers" can be traced to the Latin petra meaning "rock" or "stone".

One definition of a "pier" is a stone barrier.

Some might infer from all this that you have rocks in your head, and that your brain is a barrier against reason and rational thought.

Indeed, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones or piers.

And most ex-child "stars" should just move on.

The Hogans???
