Rep. Slaughter, Who Wanted to 'Police' Speech After Tucson, Says GOP Wants to 'Kill Women'; Media Mum
"In '94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts," claimed senior Democratic Congresswoman Louise Slaughter at a pro-choice rally on the National Mall Wednesday. "Now they're here to kill women." Slaughter, the ranking Democrat on the Rules Committee, went on to compare proposed GOP proposals on abortion, bizarrely, to "show-me-your-papers" policies in the Third Reich.
It's been two days since Slaughter made these incendiary and baseless remarks, yet there has been a virtual media blackout. So once again we have to ask, as did the Washington Examiner's David Freddoso, what if a Tea Partier had said it? [Disclosure: I also write for the Examiner]
The story was initially reported by NewsBusters sister site CNSNews.com, and aside from the Examiner, no other news organization has reported on Slaughter's absurd statement thus far. It's safe to assume that if a conservative Republican had made similar remarks, coverage would be significantly greater (check out the video of Slaughter's remarks below the break).
CNSNews.com's Dan Joseph reported Thursday:
Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) said today that the new Republicans elected to the House of Representatives last November came to Congress "to kill women." She also likened Republican efforts to prohibit federal funding of abortion except in cases of rape, incest or where the life of the mother is endangered to actions taken by Nazis.
"This is probably one of the worst times we’ve seen because the numbers of people elected to Congress. I went through this as co-chair of the arts caucus," Slaughter said. "In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women."…
Although the text of the bill makes no reference to people needing a "receipt" to prove their abortion was for one of the excepted categories if they try to deduct the abortion fee they paid from their federal taxes, Slaughter suggested that under the bill, if enacted, people would need receipts for their abortions in such circumstances.
She then equated that perceived need to the sort of requirement that would be imposed by Nazis.
"You are allowed to have an abortion if you have been raped or it’s a matter of incest,” said Slaughter. "However, you have to keep a receipt. Did you know that? It’s sort of like an old German Nazi movie. Show me your papers!"
Interestingly, after January's shooting in Tucson, Slaughter said "she would look at ways to better police language on the airwaves," according to The Hill. The implication was that "language" had something to do with the shooting spree that hospitalized Rep. Gabby Giffords and 12 others, and killed six.
It seems that accusing one's political opponents of wishing death on women generally and comparing their policies to those of the Nazis would fall within the bounds of speech Slaughter apparently felt had somehow led to that shooting.
Neither the absurdity of Slaughter's remarks nor her rank hypocrisy in making them, however, have seemed to satisfy the media's standards for newsworthiness.
*****UPDATE: I'm told that CNN's Howard Kurtz discussed Slaughter's comments on Sunday's "Reliable Sources". It's good to see that some in the media are noticing.

PTL I left New York in 1993. I would be ashamed to live in the same state with this repulsive woman. To claim that her Republican compatriots in the House of Representatives are there "To kill women" is beyond the pale. The real travesty here is that people like this human sewer get elected to our government. Remember the Founding Fathers? Think of them by name. Fast forward to today...think of the names in government today.....Reid, Moran, Schumer, Obama, Mikulski, Pelosi........how far we have fallen.
Here's to you, "slaughter" -

Kill women, check. Starve cheetahs, check. Disappoint tourists, check. Not pay soldiers, check. Since Republicans don't live here, none of this matters to them...
What? They live here? Some are women? They like animals? They can read a balance sheet? Never mind.
Remember Sgt Slaughter?

THE SHUTDOWN SPECIAL RECIPE
Submitted by Herbster on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 1:13pm.
These poor "Shutdowners." They know full well that their "Lost pay" will be made up to them either through "Bonuses" or some other scam. Obama is showing what he and the angry wife (who, I suspect, is the power behind the throne) really think about the military. We had a "Shutdown" here in Texas (In Austin, fondly known as San Francisco, East) Yesterday. 3,000 government paid lowlifes took a day off to "Protest cuts." Funny thing, no one noticed. The earth continued to spin on its axis. Question: If YOU took an unauthorized day off from YOUR job to "Demonstrate," what would happen? Pay withheld? Suspension? Fired? No retribution for these twits who protested. Shameful. However, here is a SHUTDOWN RECIPE for these poor shutdowners:
1 Cup Meow Mix
1/2 Cup fancy feast
1/2 Cup kibbles and bits
Salt and pepper to taste.
Mix well and bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until warmed through.
Remove from oven and allow to "Rest" for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle diggie bacon bits on top for extra crunch.
This can be served with either government surplus cheese or organic carrots from Michelle's magic garden.
Enjoy!
Evidently those

Evidently those shoot-your-mouth-off types have never been inside a grocery store, or they'd know that pet food is more expensive than people food. It's cheaper to feed your cat tuna than Fancy Feast.
Seriously?

I want to bitch-slap every nasty creature that frames the extremist Planned Parenthood and NARAL agenda as "for women." NO NO NO NO. Not for me. Not for Concerned Women for America. Not for Feminists for Life. Not for ANY woman who prefers a live baby to a shredded fetus.
They should only speak for the women who agree with them, and stop acting as if they speak for all of us. I am more than a life support system for a vagina, and I resent them reducing me to my genitals every time they open their goddam mouths.
