NBC: Jan Brewer Just Trying to 'Score Some Points With Obama-Haters in Arizona'
By Kyle Drennen | January 27, 2012 | 12:00
By daring to stand up for herself in recent exchange with President Obama, the media quickly labeled Arizona Governor Jan Brewer a villain. On Thursday's NBC Nightly News, anchor Brian Williams was aghast: "Who have you ever seen talking to the president like this?....The governor of Arizona with her finger in the face of the President of the United States. You don't see that often or maybe ever." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]
In the report that followed, White House correspondent Kristen Welker piled on with nasty sound bites attacking Brewer. A clip of left-wing MSNBC host Martin Bashir echoing Williams: "Is that really how we're supposed to behave towards the President of the United States?" Followed by NBC News presidential historian Michael Beschloss proclaiming: "She may feel this will score some points with Obama-haters in Arizona, but nationally, this is unusual enough that I'm not sure it's going to help her."
Sound bites were also included from Brewer herself explaining: "I welcomed him and thanked him for being here....He immediately took umbrage, if you will, with my book that I wrote, "Scorpions for Breakfast," and was somewhat disgruntled..."
Welker countered Brewer with White House statements: "Today the White House described the incident as 'overblown,' but said, 'The president did note that after their last meeting, a cordial discussion in the Oval Office, the Governor inaccurately described the meeting.'"
Concluding her report, Welker added: "President Obama weighed in during an interview with ABC News, saying the whole thing was really not a big deal. He also said, and this is a direct quote, Brian, 'I think it's always good publicity for a Republican if they're in an argument with me.'"
Thursday's CBS Evening News was even worse in its coverage of the incident, as Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer denounced "such public rudeness" by Brewer.

I have seen Kristen Welker several times on television. The poor fool is nothing but a press secretary/useful idiot/mouthpiece/press release disseminater for Obama. In short, she's identical to everyone else at NBC, A-Mess-NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, NPR, CNN, the New York Times-Democrat, et al.
Wrong Again, Williams

Wrong, Williams, you stupid, ignorant douche bag. YOU and your ilk are not the country. Normal people are happy to finally see someone stand up to that lying, Marxist son of a bitch.

He started it by critisizing her book.
That being said, the POTUS is our employee, not our master, dictator, or even our boss.
The office deserves the same respect as any elected office. Including Governor.
The person deserves exactly the level of respect that they earn.
My philosophy is that when someone first obtains a position, whether POTUS or a CEO, they deserve the respect of the office. If they prove themselves, they earn transferring that respect to themselves. If they prove otherwise, then they do not deserve any more respect than any other individual who has not "earned it."
And i am unanimous in that ;-)

And Boy Barry has constantly, and purposly, disrespected the office of the Presidency..............so,in turn, he deserves no respect whatsover. In fact, this guy is one of the most despicable people I've ever seen in my experience of paying attention to current events. I can't figure out why people don't see that............but, hey............people are dumb.
Right on, killa...

and the term "Boy Barry" is so applicable. Why should we be expected to respect an immature, rabble rousing, community organizer who has never held a real job in his life?
to insist that "the office demands respect" is just ignorant. At least, is ignorant once he has proven himself not to deserve even the respect of an average, mature adult,

It keeps occurring to me, as the media harps about how "unprecedented" this is, that maybe it is unprecedented because we have never had a President this thin-skinned and bad at dealing with people.
For a President to walk off the plane and offend someone so badly just shows the depth of his incompetence, no matter how much the media tries to cover his behind.

HA!!!! I knew that this angle was going to be played from the minute I saw this clip!!! And what better show to play it on than Boy Barry's #1 knee-pad wearer/deep bower Bri-Bri Girly-Man (the handsomest man to NEVER be in the movies) Williams. In fact, I'm surprised that they also didn't say that Governor Brewer pulled this stunt to SELL MORE BOOKS!!!
Naw, man, that ain't it

You're reading it all wrong. It wasn't about scoring points with the voters in Arizona as indicated in this thread, it's scoring points with everyone that despises this fake poser.

Remember how Gov Blanco snubbed George Bush, not once but twice?
The media responded with "respectful" explanations for her rudeness. Events or actions by politicians are distorted to serve the lying liberal media agenda. It is not just hypocritical, its a LIE!

Well, we don't have any actual footage, but I'm going with:

• Bill Daley
• Blago
• Jessie Jackson
• The person in charge of enforcing student attendance at Sidwell Friends

I think it's safe to say that the ballerina - Rhambo Emmanuelle - has probably also chewed (what a word!!) Boy Barry a new one, since ol' 9 and a half is known to have an exreme potty-mouth, and attitude to go with it, and he's been in the dirty game a lot longer than his protogee.
Ya gotta wonder how a psuedo-mooooooooooooooolem like Barry feels when he's getting chewed out by a psuedo-jew like Rhambo.

NO. Obama was trying to score points with Latino voters.
Submitted by drsamherman on Fri, 01/27/2012 - 1:01pm.
NYT made the point that the confrontation could have been an ambush by the Odumbo team to score points with Latino voters given how unpopular Jan Brewer is with them.
NBC must have missed the Jay Carney morning propaganda ministry meeting.

Reminds me of Bobby Jindal's story...
Submitted by Rover on Fri, 01/27/2012 - 3:15pm.
I'm just getting into Jindal's book "Leadership and Crisis," and in the opening Jindal described Obama getting off Air Force One on his first visit to Louisiana do discuss the oil spill. In what Jindal seems to have concluded was an orchestrated display, with the media told to watch for it, Obama immediately pulled Jindal aside to berate him about a completely standard letter Jindal had sent to some department, perhaps Agriculture, asking for resources to help with the spill. Jindal responded politely that the letter was a standard, pro-forma note, and he hadn't criticized the administration in any way. The media appear to have been told to watch for the President to take the Republican Governor behind the wood shed.
If I'd been Jindal, I'd have told the President to get his skinny ass back on his plane and get the heck out of MY state, THEN gone right to the Media and told them about everything the Feds were doing to stonewall any and all effective action to combat the spill. Maybe that's why I should never be a Governor: in the aggregate, Louisiana probably got more help than interference from the Feds, but it sounds like it was a close thing, and I'd have blown it. Jindal swallowed his pride, and took the slap in the face, because he had a responsibility to the people of Louisiana that required him to work with Obama. Too bad Obama didn't seem to feel any responsibility to the people of Louisiana.
I suspect Obama tried the same thing to Brewer, and she wasn't about to take it. Just a theory.
I applaud NBC's restraint

They described Gov. Brewer's encounter with President O'Bonehead without ever once using the words, "abominable", "disgraceful", "appalling", "unspeakable" or "revolting". Even better, they didn't accuse her of being a racist.
It's a sad day when the thought, "It could have been worse" is the strongest amount of praise I can give to a story from the LSM.

The media's assessment of this event would be so much more meaningful if we knew that it would have been handled the same way if Obama had an "R" after his name and the Governor a "D".

I'll give here ten thousand points. Anybody that stands up to the person they are under attack by earns my respect. Obama's administration has attacked AZ for trying to follow the law and WI for trying to fix their budget by removing the corruption of public unions.
He has already failed... his country.

You know, it used to be illegal here in the "colonies" to publicly insult the King's Honor. People used to be bound, put on public display, and ridiculed for violating that honor. It seems like the King's Honor rule is back! It is, at least, in the MSM. The only thing missing from this are images of Governor being held in the "stocks."
