NBC Celebrates 'Occupy Wall Street' Protests 'Gaining Ground'
At the top of the 8 a.m. ET hour of Wednesday's NBC "Today," fill-in news anchor Tamron Hall proclaimed: "Today could be the biggest day yet for the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests in lower Manhattan." Correspondent Mara Schiavocampo followed by gushing: "Three weeks in, and no signs of slowing. The 'Occupy Wall Street' protest growing in size and scope."
Schiavocampo touted how the "coalition is growing quickly, as several labor unions have now vowed to join demonstrators in their protests against corporate interests....demonstrations spreading to more than 50 cities, from Boston to Los Angeles." The headline on screen throughout the report cheered: "Gaining Ground; 'Occupy Wall Street' Protests Spreading."
Promoting an upcoming rally by the left-wing group, Schiavocampo declared it "could be their largest event yet." She then observed: "The grassroots movement has no official leaders."
On the April 16, 2009 NBC "Nightly News," the day after nationwide Tea Party tax day protests, correspondent Lee Cowan attempted to discredit the grassroots nature of the movement: "Organizers insist today’s 'tea parties' were organic uprisings of like-minded taxpayers from both parties....But some observers suggest not all of it was as home-grown as it may seem."
Near the end of Schiavocampo's Wednesday report, liberal Washington Post writer Jonathan Capehart offered some advice to the unfocused protesters: "'Occupy Wall Street,' if it wants to be successful, they're going to have to zero in on specific pieces of legislation."
Schiavocampo concluded the segment by passing along a request from the leftist activists: "Organizers are also hoping students will join them in today's events. They're asking college students across the country to walk out of class at 2:00 this afternoon, in a show of solidarity."
Over the past week, NBC has continually pumped up the liberal movement, even suggesting it was the equivalent of the Tea Party.
Here is a full transcript of the October 5 report:
8:02AM ET
TAMRON HALL: Today could be the biggest day yet for the "Occupy Wall Street" protests in lower Manhattan. NBC's Mara Schiavocampo is there with more. Mara, good morning.
MARA SCHIAVOCAMPO: Tamron, good morning. Protest organizers say they are expecting thousands today for a rally and march here in lower Manhattan. The "Occupy Wall Street" coalition is growing quickly, as several labor unions have now vowed to join demonstrators in their protests against corporate interests.
[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Gaining Ground; "Occupy Wall Street" Protests Spreading]
Three weeks in, and no signs of slowing. The "Occupy Wall Street" protest growing in size and scope. Hundreds gathering to vent their frustration at big banks and corporations, demonstrations spreading to more than 50 cities, from Boston to Los Angeles. Protesters now joined by some very influential allies.
UNIDENTIFIED MAN: We are powerful, thank you!
SCHIAVOCAMPO: Tuesday, several labor unions, including transit workers and teachers, joined activists for a march to Wall Street. Today they plan to join protesters in what could be their largest event yet, a rally and march in lower Manhattan. The grassroots movement has no official leaders.
UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: We the people are here to take the power back.
SCHIAVOCAMPO: While their frustration is clear, their goals are not.
JONATHAN CAPEHART [WASHINGTON POST]: "Occupy Wall Street," if it wants to be successful, they're going to have to zero in on specific pieces of legislation.
SCHIAVOCAMPO: A movement still taking shape as it continues to grow. Organizers are also hoping students will join them in today's events. They're asking college students across the country to walk out of class at 2:00 this afternoon, in a show of solidarity. Tamron.
HALL: Alright, Mara, thank you.

Remember a top-down effort to counter the Tea Party called the Coffee Party? It was a complete bust.
What has baffled the MSM as well as the Democrats has been the nature of the genuinely self-organized, grass roots TP movement. They've tried to label politicians or conservative celebrities as the leaders of the movement, and that's failed. They have tried to alienate it from the general public by labeling racist and other names; this demonization of the TP has had an effect in public opinion, but not the Tea Parties themselves.
So, now they're trying to counter it with the Occupy Wall Street performance. How much is self-organized and how much is driven by a coalition of labor unions and Leftist groups is open to debate. One indication that it is not a grass roots movement is the fact that different participants have very different explanations for why they are there.
Nonetheless, the MSM is enthusiastically covering this protest (stunt?) in conjunction with the Obama campaign's attempt to portray him as some sort of crusading knight defending the middle class against the greed of the uber-rich.
Will it work? I don't know, but I tend to lean toward it not working. For one thing, it started too late. Autumn is upon us, and that means rough weather in the northern cities. How many will remain camped out on the streets is anybody's guess, but if that's what they want to do and they have permission to do it, they can have at it.
The longer it persists with little or no tangible, or the American Idol contestants.

NPR aired an interview with one of the protesters. He said the intent was to destroy the governmental system of the United States and replace it. The NPR stooge had no real reaction except continuing to white-wash the whole thing.
Speaking of white-washing, the crowd seems to be predominantly white, but the media don't feel the need to mention it like they do when covering the Tea Party.

If this is true, why in the devil is a FOREIGN organization allowed to make trouble within the US? I know the easy answer: Holder will never do a damned thing about it and O'batears needs the press to pretend people still like him. The idea that the "occupy" movement is spontaneous is ridiculous. If it is just an instant phenomenon, why would they have a registered website for a few months? Nobody in the MSM is smart enough to ask that basic question, because they are too busy trying to make 2011 into 1968.

There is intentionally nothing specific about these protesters demands.
There is a much darker truth just waiting to surface,.. and time is short.
What if the Cloward/Piven strategy is in full force here? In order for the Government to take control and effect changes for a complete redistribution of wealth, there has to be a vehicle for the Government to take control.
Stay with me here.
All we need is this movement to spread to about a dozen cities or so,.. then there needs to be a trigger.
What kind of trigger? It doesn’t matter, as long as the perception that violence will spread overwhelmingly if action is not taken then the Federal government can step in and perform all kinds of Constitution suspending tricks for the greater good of us all.
When you can not figure out what the agenda or goal is,.. it is because you are probably reading too much into it.
Create the problem or situation, then offer the solution to the problem or situation.

Posse Comitatus Act.
The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385) passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of Reconstruction, with the intention (in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807) of substantially limiting the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement. The Act prohibits members of the Army from exercising nominally state law enforcement, police, or peace officer powers that maintain "law and order" on non-federal property (states and their counties and municipal divisions) within the United States.

For a takeover to be successful all that is needed is a reason.
Does it matter if it is a good reason? No, as long as the Governors of each state are pliable and complacent; as long as the DoJ is is complicit; as long as the Judicial Branch is in check; as long as the Press is silent and cooperative and as long as the people are divided there will be no need for Martial Law.
Remember, Martial Law is military rule and these folks do not want that, what their goal is, and has been is to replace the US Constitution with a more progressive document that gives power to an omnipotent individual, or a “Just Master”.
As long as that Ruler is of their choosing they are happy to play,..

And here is a great response for that.
Howard Phillips, chairman of The Conservative Caucus, was quoted in 1982 as saying that the strategy could be effective because "Great Society programs had created a vast army of full-time liberal activists whose salaries are paid from the taxes of conservative working people."[6]
Left-wing commentator Michael Tomasky, writing about the strategy in the 1990s and again in 2011, called it "wrongheaded and self-defeating", writing: "It apparently didn't occur to [Cloward and Piven] that the system would just regard rabble-rousing black people as a phenomenon to be ignored or quashed."[7]

For one thing, we conservatives either have jobs, or are busy looking for one. We'd rather not rely on the gubmnt dole, so our time is spent doing things we need to do to meet our own needs. Put in 40 or more hours a week, and there is surprisingly little time to act like spoiled brats.
Plus, conservatives actually expect other conservatives to behave themselves. It's the left who believes that their agenda is so important that it excuses and even condones bad behavior. It was, after all, the leftist Marcuse who said that the right should be silenced. Conservatives believe freedom of speech applies to everyone, even loonies like Marcuse.

When we protested Vietnam we were not bought and paid for with big money. It was genuine opposition to the war and for me, not the military but the reasons for the war. We protested Johnson, Humphry and Nixon. We were multi racial and multi cultural. Our message came from us not from people and groups with lots of money.
Today I am digusted with our children currently protesting on Wall Street. They have no message. When asked they will only answer that they are angry. That is because they don't want to offend their masters, big unions and big progressive donors, who will define for them what they are protesting. They are being used. They are tools.
Here are some things worth protesting:
1. nothing has been done to the executives at FanMae/FredMac who were paid millions for fraudulent profits;
2. Goldman Sachs and brokerage houses like them made billions on our economic collapse and they still run the Treasury and the Fed. No one has investigated them;
3. college programs, classes, serves are being cut back just like many very worthy state services to the poor because of outrageous salary and benefit packages of federal and state government workers not becuase the "rich don't pay their fair share of taxes".
4. our election system is being corrupted with massive voter registrations of non existent people.

Obama's 2012 Machine in High Gear
Submitted by MrShy on Wed, 10/05/2011 - 3:13pm.
That's all this stuff is. Pretty scary.
This whole "Occupy Wall Street" / "We Are the 99 Percent" (and check out the great spoof here, or in my signature below :)) stinky commie Alinsky crap is the Obama machine at work early for 2012, with every big socialist/progressive name and organization behind it on some level, from Soros to moveon.org to Van Jones to the (real) fat cat crony, Dem-donating/lobbying labor unions, who are apparently getting more involved.
Here's also a good read from a Ron Paul forum, of all places.
A precursor (and they're connected) to Occupy Wall Street, was the Day of Rage earlier this year:
"I have discovered some information that suggests Wade Rathke, co-founder of ACORN and SEIU, announced the Day of Rage on March 25, 2011. I don’t doubt that is true, but haven’t been able to find anything other than someone else quote him – nothing linking to the actual quote. The source for the information seems to come from Canada FreePress. More so I have now discovered new information. It would seem George Soros is connected to the U.S. Day of Rage aka Occupy Wall Street through The Ruckus Society. On the U.S. Day of Rage website. The Ruckus Society receives funding from the Tides Foundation and George Soros' Open Society Institute provides grants to Tides, including a mere $4.2 Million in 2008, the last year figures are available. Several paragraphs down you’ll find more on the hopes for a Robin Hood tax, and rewriting our U.S. Constitution, among other little Marxist dreams, including violence since “fiscal reform” probably won’t do the job."
Soros is just one of the many tentacles, and they're all very much in on the orchestrated game going on here, behind the scenes of this front that is the smelly-college-drop-out-with-no-job-go-tweet-your-friend (to dupe the stupid ones into thinking it's some grassroots movement):
And, sadly, the shameless left wing-controlled media is running with these protests (and the law-breaking and civil unrest by lots of unsavory looking people, but they're painted sympathetically, of course.) All of it is undeserving, with them getting more and more front page coverage from the usual MSM suspects (CNN, MSNBC, NYTimes, etc.) which was only innevitable, as Obama and progressives will always have them in their back pocket, even when it's "shock troop" tactics like taking over public bridges.
Van Jones, the radical communist and truther who Obama couldn't pull off bringing on board, is still very much connected to O and his bid for 2012 (I'm shocked) when you read this part:
Last Aug. 11, former Obama "green czar" and community organizer Van Jones sent out an email to supporters calling for a new plan to "Rebuild the Dream." It called for infrastructure jobs to "rebuild our crumbling bridges" — exactly the line Obama presented in subsequent speeches. [see: his recent speeches directly in front of bridges.]
In the same email, Jones — a self-described communist — called for jailing big bankers and instituting a "tiny fee" to siphon billions from bank transactions "to spend on Main Street job-creation," which are also things Obama favors.
Jones sent his series of screeds using MoveOn.org's server and database. MoveOn.org was the earliest high-visibility support network for Obama during his election in 2008 and is now heavily involved in the Occupy Wall Street actions. Coincidence?
An aside, but not really (seeing as the left is attempting to vilify the latest target, banks, when they themselves created the mess) another good comment I found:
Lefties like Bill Clinton, Bonnie Frank and Chris Dodd strengthened the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) about 15 years ago forcing banks to make more loans to unqualified minorities. These loans created the core rot which led to the eventual collapse of the system in 2007. Banks took the blame (and still do) for a situation caused by redistributionist Congressional policies.

The purpose of this whole
Submitted by CoolShades on Wed, 10/05/2011 - 2:11pm.
The purpose of this whole "Occupy Wall Street" is just starting to make sense. It was quiet at first garnering little media attention. Almost on purpose. Now the story has legs all of a sudden...This is an orchestrated movement by the Obama re-election campaign. It can't be anything else. Obama has to re-ignite parts of his base again. The ones suffering now due to his economic policy failures: minorities and young impressionable students. While Obama will continue to blame Republicans for the country's dire straights, he needs a "cause" to grab the attention of his vital Democratic voting blocks (which he's lost). The blame Wall Street "campaign" seems to be a perfect scapegoat for Obama's failures and creates an emotional "cause" for his lost base to rally around and build momentum. Timing is perfect with the General election 13 months away.

I agree with you, that is what this is about,
The Unions are closing in now that the sheep have gathered in the pen, the admin will make their move.
The Govt controlled media are aware of what this is too, a desperate move and one that could easily back fire.
Yes, the Unions are coming

Oh my, yes, the Unions are coming. It will be interesting to see if they are wearing their SEIU or AFL-CIO colors. I'm guessing, in January, after the holidays, we'll begin to see reincarnated ACORN members protesting along with the New Black Panther Party members (without batons this time).
They'll have their batons.

They'll have their batons. It's their favorite fashion accessory.

Wonder what will occur first: the occupation zone being declared a health hazard & people forced to leave or the people get bored and leave on their own.

MOB WALL STREET

Last week I was reading a report about the illiterate neo-commies on MOB-WALL STREET, something along the lines: "The smell of urine was pervasive..."
As it always is with lefty mobs.
I know the media have been looking for similarities with the ultra-clean Tea Party.
So I guess that makes the neo-commies the PEE PARTY --- led by Michael Moore-Money Than You
All of the above Mr Obama? --- How about ALL OF THE BELOW, instead.
