CBS Gives Zero Coverage to NPR Scandal
By Kyle Drennen | March 10, 2011 | 12:10
Since an undercover sting video was released on Tuesday showing National Public Radio executive Ron Schiller calling conservatives "seriously racist people" – for which he resigned – CBS News has failed to utter a single word about the controversy on its broadcasts. That despite NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller (no relation to Ron) also being forced out on Wednesday.
In contrast, ABC had a full story on Wednesday's Good Morning America and it led World News that night. On NBC Wednesday, Today only featured a news brief on the scandal, but a full story was featured on the Nightly News.
CBS was clearly aware of the story, as reporter Brian Montopoli posted an article on the CBSNews.com Political Hotsheet blog entitled, "Should NPR lose its federal funding?" Montopoli opened the piece: "Even before conservative activist James O'Keefe released a hidden camera video showing now-former National Public Radio executive Ron Schiller criticizing the Tea Party and Republicans - and saying 'we would be better off in the long-run without federal funding' - NPR was facing perhaps the greatest threat to its taxpayer subsidy in its history."
Montopoli went on to quote from Media Research Center President and NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell calling on Congress to stop funding the "left-wing playground" of NPR.
Considering the ongoing debate in Congress over whether or not public broadcasting deserves federal funding, and such high-profile resignations at NPR, it is stunning that CBS News would choose to leave the story out of its on-air programming.
What did CBS choose to focus on instead? Wednesday's Early Show did a full four-minute story on the latest troubles for the Spiderman Broadway show. On the Evening News, anchor Katie Couric squeezed in a news brief on a new marriage survey.
Interestingly, in October of 2010, CBS did five stories, on both the Early Show and Evening News, on NPR's controversial firing of news analyst Juan Williams.

I am awaiting the day when network news...

no longer exists...It really has become a journalistic dinosaur as a result of the advent of cable news. All of the big 3 networks' news divisions are bastions of almost purely biased, leftist propaganda, as CBS' apparent decision to ignore what is undeniably a very big story, makes clear. Network news abandoned their journalistic integrity and responsibilities long ago. NBC and ABC at least acknowledged the story, but the fact that CBS has refused to even mention it is beyond the pale.

You can't whistle past the graveyard forever, Couric

Couric's salary exceeds combined budgets of NPR's top news shows.
And she's worth every penny. Just ask her.
I remain mystified that Couric still...

has her job...I figured with her dismal ratings, she'd have been gone long before now, but I guess CBS, with their well known, high journalistic standards (cough, cough), has decided to embrace their last place spot in network news...They must be so proud.
And take a look at this...It's interesting...

I saw the title "CBS gives Zero Coverage to NPR Scandal" and I thought "Ok, so CBS is giving the Chairman (more)coverage versus coverage of the NPR scandal."
I was thinking you guys are now calling him Zero like everyone else! ;-)

It's comical how lefty news organizations believe that by omitting, ignoring, manipulating or minimizing news stories that put the lie to their specious assertions of disinterested reporting, the reality of their political bias will somehow get past the public they supposedly serve. NPR got caught dead to rights just being the liberal mouthpiece everyone knows it to be. The liberal narrative will continue to insist that it was an ambush and ignore the fact that NPR got caught holding out one hand to the "Muslim Brotherhood" for five million dollars while they slapped Republicans, the Tea Party, Christianity (weird evangelical..) middle America and anyone else who doesn't happen to subscribe to their skewed vision of America with the other. We'll be asked to accept any number of ridiculous excuses for the fact that they were prostituting themselves for money from any dark corner they could find. And if NPR can survive shooting itself in the head they'll be pleading their innocence years from now, much like Dan Rather, who still insists that his torpedo job on George W. Bush was the truth and nothing but the truth. All of 'em, Schnooks and Traitors. After CBS initially broke the

After CBS initially broke the story on the AFT "Operation Fast and Furious" gun running into Mexico they have become silent. I think it so they can go back and try to make the federal firearms dealers look bad at making the sells even though the sells went through with he blessings of the ATF. Any further investigation is probably going to lead to Holder's door. Sen Grassley the video comes from his appearance last night on Cam and Company, wants an investigation independent of the DOJ and ATF or even the inspector general for fear they would hide something. Big Sis says she knew nothing about it. YEAH RIGHT.
Outside of the NRA the Christian Science Monitor is the only place I can find reporting on this. The CSM is definitely not gun friendly.
If you have Sirius Radio you need to listen to Cam and Company nightly. NB Tim Graham is a frequent guest.

Please don't ruin the Cartoon Network. Their ratings beat the heck out of CNN and MESSNBC. Besides it helps me entertain my grandkids when they are here. I don't know what I would do without Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo. I kind of like Tom and Jerry myself. Now if I could just find some Yogi Bear I'd be happy. I sure do miss the Smurfs

"Fake but true" covering for NPR? Shocking. By the way, has CBS called Ohio for Bush yet in the 2004 election ?
