CBS Cheers Barbara Bush Supporting Gay Marriage
On Tuesday's CBS Early Show, news reader Jeff Glor declared: "Former First Daughter Barbara Bush is taking a very public stand in support of same-sex marriage." After a sound bite was played of Bush doing a video for the left-wing group New Yorkers for Marriage Equality, Glor added: "During his presidency, her father pushed an amendment banning same-sex marriage."
While Glor touted the move on air, on CBSNews.com's Political Hotsheet blog on Tuesday, an article on Bush's advocacy proclaimed: "Barbara has had gay friends dating back at least to her time at Yale University, and her support for same-sex marriage comes as no surprise to her friends. She used to take one gay friend to the White House for dinner with her family when she was in Washington."
The article quoted a statement from the liberal Human Rights Campaign, which sponsored the video: "Bush's advocacy shows that equality knows no party label and raises the profile of this timely fight for equal marriage rights in the Empire State."
It described the gay marriage issue as political ploy by the GOP: "As president, George W. Bush pushed for a Constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and Republicans depended on gay marriage referenda to drive out conservative turnout in election years."
The Early Show was the only network morning show on Tuesday to report the story, and gave it the same amount of time as its brief coverage of a Florida judge ruling ObamaCare to be unconstitutional.

news, why? I don't care if Barbara Bush marries a gay in Massachusetts, or a polygamist. It IS NOT news. Riots in Egypt, plotted early on by Owebowma are news. The actual unemployment rate of about 16% is news. The ruling on the "Healthcare" law is news.
But, this is the SEEBS "news" equivalent of putting their hands over their ears and screaming "I can't hear you".

well i care about it - if the health of our communities continues to erode - and in this case via the continued proliferation of sexual depravity - then we're in deeper and deeper sh*t overall - but you're right there are bigger news items of the day
Congratulations Jimmy Carter!
I just ran across Glor's HS yearbook picture:

A lot of people will see the headline and think it is Big mama Bush. It is very misleading-just the way the MSM wants it.
Let see if we can find Amy Carter and see what she has to say about Egypt.
The only reason anyone cares a fig about this...

is because her last name is Bush. The lefties just love it when a prominent Republican and/or conservative, or one of their family members, decides to publicly back something that generally isn't embraced by the rest of those in the party. The fact that Barbara Bush chose to go public with her support of gay marriage is of course her business, but despite the fact that she is a high profile person and a daughter of President Bush, I strongly doubt that will change many minds concerning this issue.

funny how the Republicans are declared to be closed to the idea of the "big tent" but if they can find a prominate name with a non-stereotypical (stereotypes created by the media) then it is a weapon to use against the Republicans.

that will try to use this as a weapon to illustrate, erroneously, how "closed-minded" "unfair"" and "intolerant" Repubs/conservatives are...Good luck with that...Let them try. The fact of the matter is, no matter what the lefties or anyone else may believe, the majority of Americans are opposed to gay marriage...Poll after poll has continued to show this, and no matter how much the left may want to use Barbara Bush as a poster child of what a "tolerant" Repub (if she even is one) is supposed to be, her coming out in support of gay marriage, I don't believe will change many, if any, minds.

but I find it about as influential as Ron Reagan opining about anything but the Eukanuba Dog Show. Thanks for the input but how is that any more important than the opinion of the next person to walk in the door?
It's fluff and propaganda designed to give an impression that something is true or has gravitas for people who don't think about what they see and hear.
Let me get this straight so to speak

This civil rights struggle [sic] to destroy the traditional rites of marriage between a man and a woman in now so mainstream that Barbara Bush #2 is jumping onboard?
Why do we have any marriage rite requirement anymore?
Barb why did your twin sister get "married" to a person of the opposite sex in a religeous ceremony or rite? Was she just joking around? Was she just goofing on the groom or on your father? Was she just wanting to be seen in an expensive white dress? Did she just want to get gifts and see you in a bridesmaid's outfit? Really why did she do this? Why should anyone do this? If you and your generation deem it anti-? to be married why should gays or anyone else want to get married?
I think you need to go back to your room Barbara and ponder this "from the beginning of time" tradition of marriage and why it has always been between a man and a woman. Why Barbara? Forget being thought of as "with it" among your peers and really think about why we and all other cultures throughout the world and for time eternal considered marriage as a special rite between a man and a woman?
Were all people until you and your friends came along just horribly stupid and uninformed all over the world or is it possible that you and your friends have bought another large dose of crap -- and yes I do include your mother and Meghan McCain and her mother in this group.

Did anyone notice that the gay friend was accepted at the dinner table and NOT tarred, featherd, and run out of the White House on a rail? (P.S. To any liberals reading this. NOT a call to violence!!!!)
