Carrie Prejean, CBS At the top of Thursday’s CBS Early Show, co-host Maggie Rodriguez declared: “...former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, almost walks off Larry King Live, saying his questions were inappropriate.” The headline on screen read: “Prejean Pouts.”

Co-host Russ Mitchell later reported in a news brief: “Prejean nearly walked out on CNN interviewer Larry King last night. Prejean had answered questions about a sex tape she made as a teenager....She then refused several times to discuss a settlement she reached with the Miss USA Pageant, but King persisted.” Mitchell failed to provide the context that Prejean had already completed a 30-minute interview with King and was strangly brought back for the final few minutes of the show.

Later in his report, Mitchell explained: “King tried to go to a caller from Detroit, but Prejean removed her mic and prepared to leave. She then changed her mind and completed the interview. She never did answer Mr. King’s question.” Co-host Harry Smith later noted: “And the fact is – is the reason she was pulling her mic is because she said ahead of time she wasn’t going to take questions from callers.”

After Mitchell’s report, Rodriguez recalled an interview she did with Prejean: “I remember when she was here and I interviewed her, she was very uncomfortable with tough questions and so was her mom who came with her. I’m surprised – it can’t be easy, but I’m surprised she’s not used to it by now.”

Co-host Harry Smith joked: “Larry King, as we all know, I mean, is the tough interviewer.” Mitchell added: “He does not give up.” While making fun of King’s normally softball interview style, Smith and Mitchell failed to describe the unusually tough and unfair treatment he showed Prejean.

Here is a full transcript of the segment:

7:00AM TEASE:

MAGGIE RODRIGUEZ: And former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, almost walks off Larry King Live, saying his questions were inappropriate. We’ll hear what else she said.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Prejean Pouts]

7:12AM SEGMENT:

RUSS MITCHELL:  Former Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, nearly walked out on CNN interviewer Larry King last night. Prejean had answered questions about a sex tape she made as a teenager. Something she has called the biggest mistake of her life. She then refused several times to discuss a settlement she reached with the Miss USA Pageant, but King persisted.

CARRIE PREJEAN: Larry, it’s completely confidential and you’re being inappropriate. Okay?

LARRY KING: Okay, alright.

PREJEAN: You’re being inappropriate.

KING: ‘Inappropriate King Live’ continues.

PREJEAN: Yes.

MITCHELL: And King tried to go to a caller from Detroit, but Prejean removed her mic and prepared to leave. She then changed her mind and completed the interview. She never did answer Mr. King’s question.

MAGGIE RODRIGUEZ: I remember when she was here and I interviewed her, she was very uncomfortable with tough questions and so was her mom who came with her. I’m surprised – it can’t be easy, but I’m surprised she’s not used to it by now.

HARRY SMITH [JOKING]: Larry King, as we all know, I mean, is the tough interviewer.

[LAUGHTER]

MITCHELL: He does not give up. (In Larry King voice) Detroit, you’re on the air.

RODRIGUEZ: He is know for-

MITCHELL: He doesn’t stop.

SMITH: And the fact is – is the reason she was pulling her mic is because she said ahead of time she wasn’t going to take questions from callers. So that’s – in fact, if we actually want to know what happened, we’ll read about it this morning.

A true 'journalist' would

A true 'journalist' would understand the concept of "Confidential".

But, garbage TV people only understand the concept of violating Oaths Of Office, and confidentiality agreements.

Rodriguez is green

Envy is not a pretty shade of green, Rodriguez!

What's sad

What's sad is that these airheads probably think that's how it really happened.

Liberal TV hosts only treat conservatives this way

It is only conservatives that are presented with "Gotcha" questions and "ambush interviews" by the liberal TV talking heads ( I refuse to call them journalists anymore).

They long ago stopped even trying to maintain a veil of objectivity.

Throw 'da bums out!!!

Before it's too late.

Wait a minute...do you mean that...

Some people still WATCH the "Early Show"?

"Who am us, anyway?" - Firesign Theatre

Prejean was pretty

Prejean was pretty ridiculous during that interview, especially when she told Larry he was being inappropriate.

Ridiculous like a fox...

King, going into the break, even used her word to describe himself!

"The bureaucracy is growing to meet the needs of the growing bureaucracy"

Yes, as in mocking her for

Yes, as in mocking her for being a twit.

Which is wasted on 99% of King's audience...

which means one guy "got it".

"The bureaucracy is growing to meet the needs of the growing bureaucracy"

Well it IS

Well it IS inappropriate to keep asking questions about a legal settlement, since both parties to a settlement have to agree to keep the terms of the settlement confidential.  Say what you want about the rest of the interview, but she's right to confront him about that.

If you're not outraged at the media, you haven't been paying attention.

It's not inappropriate. It's

It's not inappropriate. It's an interview show. He's asking a question, then trying to find out why she can't answer the question, then trying to find out why she can't answer the question of why she can't answer the question.

That's called an interview.

I heard her on Man Cow the other morning

I heard her the other morning on Man Cow and she did very well.  She mentioned that Joy Behar and her guest were making fun of her grandfather who fought in the Battle of Bulge the night before Veterans' Day.  Real classless.  Her grandfather's actions in WWII have nothing to do with her answer in a pagent.  Did the Early Show mention anything about Joy Behar and company pouting about her grandfather?

Naw, it was Larry King that was pouting..

King's response to Prejean's charge that conservative women are constantly attacked and torn down by the liberal media was to look down at an already prepared cheat hit list; from which he read the following:

Doesn't the conservative media tear down liberal politicians..

[..]

but the conservative media commentators denounce Sonya Sotomayor as a racist, Hillary Clinton as a bitch and a liar. Laura Ingraham recently accused Nancy Pelosi of doing everything but sell her own body to get the health care passed.

OK. So that sounds a bit nasty, however, here is the problem with Larry King's prepared attack on a handful of examples:

He can't find many more.

We all know that the MSM (TV, Cable, public radio, left wing AM talk radio, newspaper, left wing newspaper, Magazines, etc) are and have been going on the attack 24/7 against any conservatives, pundits, groups and politicians alike, and there are no boundaries as to the manner of vile language and smears being used.

This is a 1000:1 game plan.

The fact remains that all

The fact remains that all this hoopla has resulted because Carrie gave an honest answer to a question, an opinion expressed by the POTUS and a majority of Americans.

Because of that she has been raked over the coals ever since and now, Lo and Behold! we learn that she is not perfect. When will the left learn that you don't have to be perfect to recognize right and wrong? You fall ... you pick yourself up, you move on and try to be better.

This should be a good lesson for young people - don't ever do anything stupid because, should you ever profess or aspire to anything of value, your stupidity will be exploited by those who wish to bring you down or discredit what you stand for ... unless you know how to play hardball.

Carrie did as well as could be expected in admitting she "acted stupidly" and she will just have to live with the prospect of being ridiculed by those that hate her so much. We'll see if she remains true to her beliefs from now on. My guess is that the temptation to "recreate" herself into something more marketable will be too strong.

Another tip ... think twice about ever appearing with Larry King, because you are almost guaranteed to be confronted by a set-up telephone call ... or at least be prepared to answer the screened questions you know that will be directed to you.

Its for people like this

Its for people like this women that the words dumb and blonde were first connected.  Awwwww, did da pwitty wittle giwl not like the hard questions?

Thank the heavenly father for Obama

what's up doc?

Such treachery now days. I'm not sure what it would be like to have a teeny bopper girl friend give me a sex tape. What would be in it? And what would I send her in return?

I'd recommend she have the plastic pulled from her young breasts, seriously, I don't think she needed it.

Part I didn't get

The part I didn't get was when she said, I've pulled off my mike so I can't hear you, and she's still responding to his questions with an echo.

That Geico pothole commercial started running through my mind.

I can't wait for the book.

I'm still here :)

Apparently You Weren't Listening To The Actual Interview...

Guess I'll have to repost this...

Larry King may suck, but if anyone looks worse in this interview, if not sounds, it's Miss Prejean. That's why you have to listen to an interview like this on the radio, like I did listening to Phil Hendrie's show. I mean, this woman had no idea on how to even defend herself on the air. Apparently, she kept signaling someone off camera for advice (most likely a press agent, if that's my guess.), and everyone would know that's a big no-no in these kind of environments (you definitely couldn't get away with coaching someone in a courtroom as I found out when I tried to coach my father on an eviction notice behind the court floor.) Do you realize how ridiculous it is to say "That's inappropriate" as if she has to ask someone for permission in order to think for herself?

I've got news for you: she's not the one being victimized, you are. YOU are all being victimized by this ridiculous system of everything must have a political agenda behind it, therefore you are a victim. Miss Prejean should have had enough notice that Larry King pursues his own political agenda, just as Sean Hannity, or Rachel Maddow might pursue theirs through their questioning. The question though is: maybe you should grow up a little and actually challenge your opponent to the duel rather than letting them challenge you. You cannot be so air-headed that you can't make any better comeback than saying, "uh, that's inappropriate" and taking her microphone off like a dithering nincompoop. I mean, please.

What are you?

An interpreter?

No....I got it...you're a MIME.

I hope he fails, too.
