On Sunday, CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer praised President Obama’s recent media blitz for health care reform: "There’s no question he is the best salesman on the staff," but wondered: "Does he run the risk of overexposing himself?" Politco.com’s Roger Simon dispelled that fear: "It is a risk, but he keeps topping himself."
Simon elaborated on Obama’s oratory skill: "Every time you think this guy can’t give another speech that’s better than the last one, he gives another speech that’s better than the last one. And he’s achieving his purpose." He added that the President’s address to Congress last Wednesday: "was to unite Democrats around him. As a man who can get this job done."
In the same segment, Schieffer also spoke with syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker, who gushed: "There is always that risk of overexposure. And yet, if you watched his speech yesterday in Minneapolis, he sort of redeems himself every time he goes out there in front of the public, because he is so good."

September 14, 2009 - 18:20 ET by jon_torlinMost people would be watching re-runs of just about anything other than watching Duh One give a live speech. That's already been proven, re-runs were getting higher ratings.

I listen to Obama speak and say, "Every time I think this guy can't more blatantly lie and con soft-minded liberals, he does.
So, I guess it's subjective Mr. Simon.
And yes, he is over exposed - more than Michael Jackson on the TV Guide Channel.

Obama's speeches are so annoying, it is like he tries to put an emphasis on EVERY sentence, as if they are so profound they all need to be emphasized...
"but he keeps topping himself..."
September 14, 2009 - 17:03 ET by PrairieSkyObama keeps topping himself, huh? How? By spouting even more misinformation, lack of information, and outright lies? Considering the fact that "O's" approval numbers have dropped 20+ points in the past 8 months, and that virtually everything he has touched during that time has become an extremely controversial, divisive and very expensive mess, the idea that he "keeps topping himself" doesn't mean much...When you're already scraping the bottom of the barrel, there's no where else to go but up, so "topping himself" isn't much of an accomplishment.

September 14, 2009 - 17:18 ET by TELet me guess: Schieffer had Kathleen Parker on his program to represent the "conservative" point of view? Does anyone know if Schieffer introduced her as a "conservative"? I was flipping channels yesterday and briefly (about four or five seconds) stopped at ABC. Stephanopolous's show was on, and I saw that Stephanopolous had on David Brooks. I haven't watched any of their shows in years, but I do check the listings to find out who are the guests and Schieffer, Stephanopolous, David Gregory, Chris Matthews and Blitzer just love, love, love having on David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, Andrew Sullivan, Chuck Hagel, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, et al., to represent the "conservative" point of view.

Obama is not a great orator.
September 14, 2009 - 18:29 ET by celatorObama is not a great orator. He reads reasonably well from a teleprompter. He is easily flustered, and seems more like an accused pickpocket explaining to the judge he is forced to steal because, after all, that's what his family does for a living.
Great orators make great oratory. We remember their words for generations. This is not the case with Obama. His words are completely forgettable three minutes after he speaks them.
Great orators include Winston Churchill, JFK, FDR, MLK, Reagan. Abraham Lincoln, whose oratorical voice could be somewhat high pitched and soft, was a great orator in his own special way. High school students were once made to memorize entire speeches Lincoln gave. That's how good he was.
We know great orators when we hear them. We do not need left wing political media hacks tell us "Hey, that was a great speech!".
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

I guess he doesn't know that in Brit. English slang "to top yourself" is to commit suicide, usually by hanging.
So yeah, Obama is topping himself, politically. As in committing political suicide by massive over-exposure.
