CBS Touts ‘Fan-in-Chief’ Barack Obama’s NCAA Picks

Russ Mitchell, CBS On Thursday’s CBS Early Show, co-host Russ Mitchell shared President Obama’s bracket picks for the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four: "And it appears March Madness has reached the White House. The fan-in-chief President Obama tells ESPN his NCAA Final Four bracket includes Louisville, Memphis, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina. And he predicts a Tar Heels victory over Louisville in the final. There is the music. You can catch all the action of the NCAA men's tournament right here on CBS, beginning tomorrow afternoon. We all picked North Carolina." On Wednesday’s Evening News, while filling in for anchor Katie Couric, Early Show co-host Maggie Rodriguez also touted the presidential picks.

However, both Mitchell and Rodriguez failed to mention that the head coach of Duke University’s men’s basketball team, Mike Krzyzewski, recently criticized the President for being distracted by March Madness: "Somebody said that we're not in President Obama's Final Four, and as much as I respect what he's doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets."

Absolutely! I saw this time and again while working with "liberals" for so many years. Like children, they can't concentrate on one thing for an extended period of time, especially something important. It's too much for them. Everyday I worked, it was something new. They never "solved" any problem before going on to another one. And they literally made things up to prattle about. It's a disease. Chaos is in their genes.  A word of advice: don't ever take the "liberals" more seriously then they take themselves. Nonetheless, don't underestimate their viciousness or take them lightly. Watch out for them. They'll do you in, sans conscience. How sad.

I was under the impression that Ritalin had the opposite effect on adults as it did kids. In other word I think he is already it because he is so hyper.

I gotta go with balboa on this one. I've dealt with Coach K enough to know how he really is. He's jealous that Obama chose UNC over his team and is now making a smart alec comment to hurt Obama's feelings. Had Obama picked K as the winner, I guarantee this would never have happened.

Falling apart

On another post I listed just a few of the things Barry has done to put this nation in grave danger. And he hasn't been in office but a few days. The guy's is a liar, a hypocrite, and a theif, to name a few "qualities" of his character. He is an immature boy, indoctrinated in an America-hating ideology which, left unchecked, is quickly bringing the country to its' knees. And instead of working, he is making basketball picks. Note the specifics in his statements: he knows more about the players and the teams than he does about American history or the Constitution. What is he doing, putting hours into this while the nation is on the brink of financial and social disaster? He demonstrates more urgency about the NCAA Tournament then about impending doom ( unless he's on the campaign trail ).Yet he's got the media sychophants stating that he's "working his tail off".This is sick!

I have no problem with our president taking a few minutes out and showing a human side. He obvious loves college hoops, knows his stuff on the subject.

All of us who stood up for President Bush every time the tards on the Left bitched about Bush not wringing his hands every waking moment over the "war on terror", Katrina, or 9/11, etc, should take note that many of you are doing the exact same thing.

Barry obviously takes more than "a few minutes" for his recreation. And he knows just about everything concerning basketball and football teams, yet he thinks there are 57 states in the union and his statements concerning the Constitution are absolutely ignorant. Ok, fine. But he is not fit to be POTUS. Go and be a commentator on the sports network, young fella. He's so fond of saying we are in a "crisis". If so I want a "leader", not an overgrown teenager, in this time of "crisis".

Silly? Not so. Moreover, I see this as just another diversion from what he is up to. Read the book, Fahrenheit 451. In it the leader of the firemen (who burn books) asks about sports. He says that the more people think about sports, the better for those who are doing the dirty to continue their evil deeds. Obama and his minions will talk about anything but the real problems, lest they be found out. 

Futhermore, read about Barry, the party animal, in Washington. He instills absolutely no confidence in his ability to "lead" anything. And I hope everyone watches him on Leno. He should be a "regular riot" as Ralph Cramdon would say. And be sure to read his children's book too. I guess he'll be writing that at halftime. Wow, what a guy!

I've made a few jabs at Obama for doing it, but really it's not a big deal. It takes about five minutes to fill out a bracket and very little thought to choose UNC as the winner. All he had to do was hit ESPN's website for about thirty seconds to find UNC as the popular choice.

Obama going on Jay Leno was a big deal because that took a lot of preparation and wasted time. Obama running away last month to visit a random public school was a big deal. Obama pretending to cry over bonuses that Congress approved is a big deal. Let's focus on what really matters.

As to your point about F 451, this country gets involved with March Madness every year regardless of who is in office. Same for a lot of other sports. Bush threw the first pitch at the World Series back in 2001, and also threw the first official pitch in the Nationals' new stadium last spring. And let's not forget when Palin dropped the puck at a hockey game in Philadelphia last fall even as McCain was busy working on the bailout. I don't recall you accusing Sarah Palin of giving us a diversion.

There are a lot of reasons to be angry at Obama, but IMO this is too nitpicky.

I think this entire propaganda tour that he's been on since his inauguration is pathetic. I'd like to see him answer the tough questions and offer up some real solutions to the many problems our government has created. Instead, he parties every week and hops around the country as if he's already seeking re-election...which wouldn't be a surprise since he's been perpetually running for the next office since his first elected government job.

Obama has decided to run things by being in perpetual campaign mode. That's obvious. He told us before the election that running a campaign was his only skill, so now it's the only thing he knows to do. Going on Leno is nothing but a campaign move to remind teeny boppers how dreamy he is. The nightly parties, the weekend getaways, they're all ridiculous. The meeting with Gordon Brown was a disaster.

But to spend so much energy criticizing his bracket? That's like having a teenager who skips school and smokes pot, but you're jumping on him because he didn't take out the trash.

I agree that the birth certificate thing is fishy...but I fail to see what that has to do with my original point...

I couldn't care less about Obama's opinion of college basketball. I think the man is an absolute fraud. I do think he needs to spend more time acting like a president if he wants to assume the role of one - despite his ineligibility.

And by the way...his eligibility has nothing to do with a birth certificate. You need to read the article that I wrote. We have the proof of his fraud right in front of our faces, yet hardly anyone is willing to do anything about it.

Do whatever you can. If you have the means to construct a legal argument and file suit, then do it. Write multiple letters to your representative, senators, the RNC, DNC, secretary of state, attorney general...every political outlet you can reach. Write your newspapers, magazines, spread the word on your blog...anything.

Just don't fall victim to the wrong arguments. The birth certificate isn't the issue. Obama is not a natural born citizen. He was born to a British citizen. That disqualifies him. That's the general argument I made in my article that I posted - but there's much more detail and an extraordinary source accompanies it in the text (a link to a previous essay I wrote concerning the history of U.S. citizenship).

It's not a matter of partisanship...it's a matter of upholding the law. There are much bigger things going on than college basketball brackets. Our country is in the hands of a usurper. I wonder if people truly understand what that means.

Back in the day...

Back in the day, the outgoing president and the news media let the new president have 100 days to get in office before unleshing the attack dogs. That certainly didn't happen with Bush, but magically appeared with you know who...

Back then, a President was president of ALL the people and would not make sports picks lest he appear to show disrespect for the other team, nor unfairly promote his favorite team. 

And then again, back in the day, Basketball was a sport that required skill and finesse... where there were rules like goaltending and travelling that made the player have to work to earn points. Now its all about how long you can slammer-bammer and hang on the rim.
