CBS ‘Early Show’ Celebrates Anniversary of Iranian Revolution

Iranian Women, CBS During a news brief on Monday’s CBS Early Show, correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reported on the 30th Anniversary of the 1979 Iranian Revolution: "At a musical gala, a choir sang revolutionary songs. Beneath a full-scale replica of the plane that brought Ayatollah Khomeini back to Iran from exile in 1979. On a video screen, 30-year-old scenes of jubilant crowds." Palmer continued to describe the celebration: "Nearby in the Ayatollah's tomb, the faithful shout ‘Death to America.’ But to millions, this is just ritual now. They would like to see improved relations with the United States." Maybe not wishing America’s death would be a good start.

Palmer followed up by explaining: "Iran's leaders are still committed to the revolutionary ideals." Even Barack Obama has not been able to weaken Iranian principles: "And so far there's little sign they're in a hurry to accept the direct negotiations proposed by Obama's administration."

Worrisome Rituals

I don't know if you're aware of this,  Elizabeth, this is exactly the type of "ritual" we should be worried about.  When people begin to chant "Death to America" automatically, without even thinking about what they are saying, then those people will not think about what could become of America and what others may do to American citizens. 

The Germans were chanting "Death to the Jews" for so long that it became a ritual too.  As did the "ritual" of murdering the Jews , murders which was being carried out under the very noses of the Germans who weren't even concerned about what might be happening IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, TO THEIR OWN CITIZENS! 

When hatred becomes so ingrained that the very expression of it is ritualistic, ritualistic murder is not far behind.

My thought was if CBS' Elizabeth Palmer had a "faithful" stalker who for years had left messages that he was going to kill her, but now he continued to communicate the same because it was "ritual", would she feel OK?

What continues to be a disapointment is the view that islam has been "hijacked" by extremists.

In the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty because of the universalism of the mission and (the obligation to) convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force. The other religious groups did not have a universal mission, and the holy war was not a religious duty for them, save only for purposes of defense.

Only Islam, Ibn Khaldun added, “is under obligation to gain power over other nations.”

Don't forget that Ayatollah Kaka-mengela also said that if all Iran must perish in order to follow Allah's decree of killing, converting or subjugating infidels, then so be it.
