Liberal Outcry Forces Obama to Replace Inauguration Reverend

On Jan. 8, when it was reported that Obama had chosen Pastor Louie Giglio to give his inaugural benediction, lefties jumped to make sure the administration had done its due diligence regarding the reverend’s ideological purity. 

Apparently, it had not. The very next day, the left-wing website, Think Progress.org reported that Obama had chosen yet another “anti-gay Pastor” to deliver his invocation. After digging around, they were able to find a sermon Giglio gave fifteen years ago, preaching against the sin of homosexuality. 

And that’s a heresy liberals cannot abide. Amid the ensuing outcry, Giglio withdrew from the ceremony, citing “those seeking to make their agenda the focal point of the inauguration” as his reason.

Appropriately contrite, Obama’s camp condemned Giglio’s past comments as not “reflecting the strength and diversity of our country” and promised to pick someone else whose beliefs “reflect this administration’s vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans.”

Enter the Episcopalians. The Huffington Post reported that Obama chose Episcopal priest Rev. Luis Leon of Washington, D.C.’s St. John’s church to give the benediction instead. The Episcopal Church, with its openly gay bishops and priests is known for its liberal views on gay marriage, announcing “this summer that it would bless same-sex partnerships and ordain transgender priests,” according to HuffPo.
