Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes are hardly devout Christians, but they shouted out hearty "Amens" to President Obama's deployment of scripture to make his case for executive amnesty.
Shortly after Mr. Obama wrapped up, Hayes hailed how Obama "pivot[ed] away from this kind of tough, pragmatic" earlier portion of his speech to end with a call to "remember who we are" by "quot[ing] Scripture." "I found that part, because I'm a bleeding-heart liberal, particularly effective," the All In host gushed.
Later in the hour, reacting to the speech, Politics Nation host Rev. Al Sharpton quipped "you know it really is effective when the president has Rachel Maddow excited about Scripture. I mean, this is a big night."
"Rachel is more pious than you know," Hayes shot back over laughter from Maddow and other panelists. "My four aunts who are nuns right now are actually texting me right now with that," Maddow answered, adding, "Oh, look, now I'm blushing... for Jesus."
