TIME Declares Lena Dunham, Chelsea Clinton, Obama's Photographer Among 'Best Twitter Feeds' You Should Follow

One is so dreadfully boring she makes watching paint dry seem fascinating. Another once got arrested for defacing a poster in a New York subway station. A third has this nasty habit of showing way too much flesh on her HBO program. So what do Chelsea Clinton, Mona Eltahawy, and Lena Dunham, respectively, have in common, besides their liberal political leanings? Well, at least as far as Time magazine is concerned, theirs are just three of "The 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2013."  The magazine charged its section editors with finding feeds that "stand out for their humor, knowledge and personality."

Clinton and Eltahawy made the list under the "activist" category, while Dunham made the "celebrities" list. While there are plenty of relatively apolitical Tweeps in the mix, Time made sure to make Pete Souza, the president's photographer, one of the 10 honored in the arts and photography list. Below the page break you'll see the Souza tweet they chose, along with the picture of President Obama that accompanied it, as well as the magazine's state reason for why they like Souza's feed:

As the White House’s chief official photographer, Pete Souza has unparalleled access to the commander in chief, First Lady, Vice President and (of course) Bo the dog. Souza’s Twitter feed posts intimate shots of the West Wing at work and play, often before they’re available anywhere else.

Souza is an excellent photographer, but it's clear his feed was chosen because of all the exclusive photos of the Obamas it generates.

Regarding Chelsea Clinton, TIME editors hailed how "she ably uses Twitter to champion causes from women’s rights to marriage equality to saving polar bears" but all while maintaining an "upbeat feed" that offers "an occasional look at her private life."

No one on the activist list comes from a conservative or pro-life perspective, in case you were wondering.

In fairness, there are conservatives in the 140 in the "politics" category: Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) as well as National Review's Ramesh Ponnuru -- "one of the smartest conservative writers around" -- and Byron York of the Washington Examiner -- a "talented columnist and reporter" who "has his finger on the pulse of the GOP" -- but there are no outspoken conservatives in either the "informers" or "culture critics" category.
