Obama Threatens to Veto Bill Because It Won't RAISE Health Care Costs on Military; Will Media Report?

By Ken Shepherd | June 29, 2012 | 15:29

The day after Barack Obama won a major victory for his signature health care overhaul legislation -- which he and his allies insist will ultimately LOWER health care costs for Americans -- the president is threatening to veto a defense authorization bill in part because Congress is not acting to RAISE health care costs for American servicemen.

The Washington Free Beacon has the story here, and I've also excerpted it below the page break. It remains to be seen to what extent the Obama-boosting liberal media will acknowledge the president's hypocrisy:

The Obama administration on Friday threatened to veto a defense appropriations bill in part because it does not include higher health care fees for members of the military.

“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.

President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.

Like delivering the mail

Submitted by Jimbo on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 4:09pm.

The Federal Government literally cannot figure out how to deliver the mail despite a bloated budget. And like sheep to the slaughter, we entrust our health and well being to the same people.

What the Left want is to move everyone into a single-payer, Government-run, Socialist Medicine model. It is easier to move TriCare participants into the Government insurance exhange - the plans ultimately designed to end up with one government run plan - than to move everyone into TriCare. Creating a new government run plan that doesn't have any connection, even historical, to the Military would be a consideration for Leftists as well. It's a win-win for the Left: Drive the Military into eventual decreasing choices of exchange plans while deleting the association with the Military.

How dumping TriCare will be sold is that members will be able to go anywhere for their health care - especially when there are fewer insurance choices and physicians are forced to accept the remaining plans - and there will be savings by not having to have separate and duplicate administration of care of all citizens.

Words cannot express my contempt.

Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 3:42pm.

This is the ultimate disgrace... Make the military, who has not seen an effective pay raise in over 10 years, pay higher costs for their (and their families) health insurance.

What's next: "Gee Sgt, we're sorry your leg got blown-off in Afghanistan... but you'll just have to buy your own prostetic."

Grump, he's already tried that, back in 2009.

Submitted by UpNorth on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 4:01pm.

It was reported on, and Baracka backed down.  That was then, this is now.  I do believe he's been emboldened by SCOTUS, and thinks no one will pay any attention to this.

I'm sure he'll frame it as Veterans paying their "fair share", so his moonbat followers will get on board.

This is a quote from that article, from a spokesman for the American Legion, "the president's plan would increase premiums, make insurance unaffordable for veterans and impose a massive hardship on military families. It could also prevent small businesses from hiring veterans".  Amazing how the Legion, VFW and other VSO's could be that prescient back in 2009.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

First thanks for your input.

Second, I'm a retired Navy CPO and still live by that oath I took many (many many) years ago. Unless and Until this creep is removed from office - I will not be encouraging any young man or woman to "join-up." As sad as that may sound (and it is with great regret on my part) I cannot recommend anyone put themselves under this incompetents command.

I would no more encourage any young person to go into the military these days than I'd vote Progressive, er Communist, I mean democrat.

Submitted by jon_torlin on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 4:21pm.

This is why the correct response to the ObeymeCare was a real good bitchslap, not this legal trickery that Roberts did.  I'm expecting this sorry son of a bitch to continue to do things like this now that he's been emboldened by SCOTUS, or I should say Roberts.  Even if the "tax" label looks bad, he already said he would implement it, etc, with no fear of repisals.

Which begs the question, where will he go next?  How low will he go?

Anyone who didn't see something like this coming is a damn fool.

DoJ has said that they won't prosecute him.

And there's another twist to this story.  The U.S. Attorney appointed by Holder to investigate the security leaks in the White House or DoD is Ronald Machen, the U.S. Attorney for D.C.  The one who won't prosecute Holder for contempt.

I have a suggestion for Obama

Submitted by Blonde on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 4:59pm.

Ha ha, fooled ya! While I'm thinking it, I'm not going to type it here. Rather.....

Why don't we just stop paying the GM unions', or perhaps the Post Office unions', AND the SEIU unions' insurance premiums? Make THEM pay 25 or 35% of their premiums.

And stop paying for the Congress Critters' caddilac benefit plans altogether? And the Czars', and for that matter, ALL of the political apointees'?

That's a good start. I can think of more, even though I'm seeing red right now.

That would be a great start, albeit a symbolic one and a drop in the bucket. I do not know the cumulative value of the cuts you propose, but I do know what the 15 trillion dollar national debt is.

It is:

15 million million dollars.  Think about that for a minute.

And when you are done thinking about that, check this out for giggles

Of that trillion dollar political payoff disguised as a stimulus package, you think they could have found some room for the people who defend the country. They probably could have funded free healthcare for our military with the money that went missing alone.

I'd do that, but, since I don;t have a concealed carry permit, I'd have to get his gun away from him first, hence the "upside the head" tactic. People tend to drop things when their head is being pummeled. Besides, there's plenty of weapons available just about anywhere you go, from desk lamps chairs, to laptop computers and pc keyboards, to your own fists.
