Dem Sen. Webb Slams Obama Leadership, Citing ObamaCare Boondoggle; WashPost Places Item to Page A4
President Obama's ham-handed, laissez faire handling of his signature legislative achievement, ObamaCare, "cost Obama a lot of credibility as a leader," argued retiring one-term Sen. James Webb (D-Va.). Webb.
"If you were going to do something of this magnitude, you have to do it with some clarity, with a clear set of objectives from the White House," reporter Karen Tumulty quoted Webb, noting he made his comments Wednesday at "a breakfast organized by Bloomberg News." Webb held out ObamaCare as a key reason why the president may ultimately be unable to keep Virginia in the Democratic win column in the 2012 presidential race. But alas, Tumulty's reporting was consigned to six paragraphs and printed on page A4 in the Election 2012 digest.
With some "7,000 pages of contradictory information" it was inevitable that President Obama ended up having "a difficult time selling himself as a decisive leader," Webb added.
Of course, there's also the pesky little issue of the individual mandate, which polls show most Americans oppose and believe unconstitutional. But that being said, anytime a Democrat lashes out to attack the president, it's telling the lengths the media will go to bury and downplay the development.

opinion...from what I can tell, no one in this part of Virginia thinks very highly of him.
Of course, I'm not suggesting he's wrong on this particular issue, just that his words don't carry much weight. I on the other hand; my words carry weight that would break a lesser man's jaw. Love that quote.

I'm guessing that's not the part of Virginia that's been absorbed by Washington DC?

Northern Virginia -- where I live -- will likely go for . . .

. . . Obama. It's a bedroom community for a great number of Federal employees, and Obama is a Big Government guy. Additionally, the demographics have been changing as the population has grown, and Fairfax County and the city of Alexandria have become more liberal than they were a decade ago.
But NoVa is vastly different than the rest of the commonwealth. I think Virginia will go for the GOP candidate.
mmm A4 and where was Santorium's....

Most folks down my way (southwest Virginia) are glad to see him go, and only wish it would have been before he voted FOR Obamacare.
The man has my respect for his service as a Marine. It ends there. He has shown himself time and again that he either stands for nothing in particular or just doesn't understand how the world works.
Thank you, Senator Webb for NOT running for reelection.
Earth to Webb!

Excuse you; "cost Obama a lot of credibility as a leader?"
Exactly where and how did the RBFSOB ever GET any "credibility as a leader" to lose?
It was pretty obvious to anyone who knew even the slightest Shiite about Leadership, that Bambi was no leader. He's a sock puppet for his handlers in the "Progressive" world, AKA communists.
As a great general once said about a totally incompetent 2nd LT, "Why anyone would follow this officer, except out of sheer curiosity, is beyond me."
Webb should be ashamed for

Webb should be ashamed for ever aligning himself with what the DemocraticParty has become, there's absolutely no excuse for it.
Where Senator Webb won't be seen any time soon.

If (well, when) a Republican Senator came out and so attacked a sitting President Bush (or anything Republican, for that matter) it would be a media frenzy to get the Senator air - they'd all be clamoring to get him/her in.

Well, Webb lost all credibility in taking Pelosi's advice...

he voted for it to find out what was in it.
And now he's whining about Obama's lack of stewardship of the bill? Too late, pal.

I believe that as Virginians soured on Obamacare, so they did sour on Webb for going along with it.
Except in the Congressional districts like Richmond and Alexandria, the Democrats elected to the Senate and House tend to me more moderate than the Dems leading their party.
Of our current (Democratic) senators, Mark Warner is a self-made millionaire and former governor, and Webb is a decorated Marine (Navy Cross -- Vietnam) and one-time Republican DoD appointee. I don't know the actual reason why Webb is not running for re-election, but it may well have to do with disgust for OBama. Reid, and Pelosi.
The weather vane will be this year's election for Webb's Senate seat. The candidates are Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican George Allen. Both are former governors, and Allen is a former US Senator. Kaine was DNC Chair, so he probably didn't endear himself to most Virginians. Allen has baggage from his lost re-election bid. The outcome may give us insight to how the commonwealth is swinging.

No matter how one may feel about his defection to the Democrats, Webb lost any credibility he had left after the disgraceful manner he reacted to Bush's kind interest in his son.
Go stuff it where the sun don't shine, Webb. You are part of the problem.
