MSNBC's Brewer Compares Republicans to Islamic Clerics Who 'Ripped... Rights Away' From Iranian Women
Update/correction (30 March 2012, 16:12 p.m. EDT): Brewer is no longer employed with MSNBC. I was going off of outdated information on her Facebook fan page. The post below is corrected accordingly.

That's how former MSNBC host Contessa Brewer introduced her Facebook fans to a March 25 New York magazine piece by Frank Rich entitled "Stag Party: The GOP’s woman problem is that it has a serious problem with women."
That a former MSNBC journalist would casually further the lame "war on women" meme is not surprising, of course, but Brewer's ratcheting up the rhetoric to compare folks like Rick Santorum to the Ayatollah Khomeini is a low blow even by the network's standards.

Contessa Brewer is the host of "Caught on Camera" on msnbc. She also hosted daily news programs for msnbc, in various time slots, from 2003-2011.

Forget what her out of date FB and Twitter profiles say...she doesn't work at MSNBC News anymore. The Caught on Camera stuff is the only thing she still does related to MSNBC and last I heard this currently airing season will be her last.

She no longer anchors one of the network's afternoon timeslots (I'm not sure which hour it was, not that it matters...that time of day they're probably in the tens of viewers) but she still produces and contributes behind the scenes. Someone of her mental aptitude and professionalism will always have a place at MSDNC

Interesting that she has finally recognized what the Iranian religious establishment (Muslims) has done to suppress and terrorize women. I'm surprised CAIR hasn't attacked her for comparing Muslims to Republicans. I doubt that she even recognizes that she has acknowledged that women are repressed in the Middle East by religious barbarians.

A gaffe is a misspeak or an error when you know what the facts really are. This was a pure, deliberate statement. Very carefully chosen words so that those to whom he was actually speaking knew EXACTLY what the message was. To those on the periphery, it's all tears and caring or a "gaffe."

really needs to talk to some of us who WERE directly involved in the "war on women". Not the Jane Fonda/Gloria Steinem has beens, the ones who really worked to enter the workplace equally........not that I like her at all, but Hillary Clinton is a prime example of where the rhetoric left off, and reality began. There's a good 20 years between women who really made a difference, and these nitwits who are lucky that there were tougher nuts than them to pave the way.
