WaPo 'On Faith' Editor Quinn: I'm Not an Atheist But, Basically, God Is Something We All Make Up
Marking the fifth anniversary of Washington Post's "On Faith" section with a November 17 post on the "five lessons" she's learned while serving as the online feature editor, Sally Quinn declared that she's no longer an atheist, nor an agnostic, really, because "It simply means that you don’t know" and "By that definition we are all agnostics. The pope is an agnostic."
Quinn ultimately went on to define God as whatever you think him/her/it to be:
Another question I always ask is, “What or who is God to you?” I have never received the same answer. Nobody has ever described God as a white bearded old man in a long flowing white robe sitting on a throne in heaven. Given the fact that God is clearly so personal and that we all have such different ideas of who or what God is, how can anyone not respect the views of others?
I have found that nobody has the same view, regardless of whether they are of the same religion, the same family, the same country, or the same culture or race.
What I have learned is this:
God is what you or I or anyone else says God is.
This I know.
Quinn is entitled to her squishy, post-modern point-of-view, but persons of deep religious faith may wonder how exactly Quinn is well-suited to edit a blog on religious faith when she doesn't seem to believe that truth is eternal and absolute and fundamentally connected to the character of an immutable and eternal God.

Psalm 14: Only fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their actions are evil...
...hmm, so if God does exist, He thinks Ms. Quinn is:
She better hope she's right...

Sally's problem is that she thinks the issue about what we think of God. All religions are teachings about what God thinks of us.

'God is what you or I or anyone else says God is.' I think she should take this teaching overseas and proclaim it to everyone in a loud voice, somewhere like the Middle East.
Why doesn't the Was(hed-up) Post just hire Satan for 'On Faith?'

We have a very old saying in psychiatry that goes, "When you talk to God it's called prayer. When God talks to you it's called psychosis." Tells us a lot about Sally.

If everything you say about God is meaningless, or equally untrustworthy ... why would you host a blog about it?

Truth Project

We are studying The Truth Project in Sunday School. It is a series of DVDs about Biblical Truth vs Secular Lies. After watching a couple of DVDs in class I ordered a set for myself as the study was fascinating. The cosmic battle was reframed as Truth vs Lies rather than Good vs Evil. Why? Because God is Truth.
Here is one of the slides from the first lesson. It shows what God teaches vs what the world teaches.
Look at what the MSM, Occupy Crowd, or our President are saying. Do they want us to be free or listen to their "wise elite leadership"? Our Forefathers said that this Republic wouldn't stand without religion (in context they meant Christianity). "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters. " Ben Franklin People continually try remove God or make Him ambiguous so others will believe the lies.
The Truth Project helped clarify many issues with current and past events along with showing me a better picture of who God is.
Here's the bad news. The DVDs are $100! That was a lot of money for a person who makes what I make. I'm a 14%er, those below the poverty line. Even so, I still do not wish to steal from the rich.

Then, poor Sally, you're not asking the right people.
And there are a few billion of us who take the Bible at face value--so, we all have a completely similar idea of Who God Is. And, consequently, why we refuse to give credence to anyone who denies that substantive view.
"I have found that nobody has the same view, regardless of whether they are of the same religion, the same family, the same country, or the same culture or race."
Sally, again, poor thing, you need to get out more. Christians around the world are clear in their understanding of how God has chosen to reveal Himself to humanity--through the written Word, and through the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ.
"What I have learned is this: God is what you or I or anyone else says God is. This I know."
No. You don't. Because it simply isn't true.
