MSNBC's Tamron Hall, Andrea Mitchell Omit Potential Jobs Lost Thanks to Obama's Oil Pipeline Punt

MSNBC daytime host Tamron Hall failed to use the J-word -- jobs -- in alerting MSNBC viewers today of President Obama's decision to delay his decision on authorizing the proposed Keystone oil pipeline.

Noting the story on the 2 p.m. Eastern NewsNation program, Hall described the "massive oil pipeline" project as "controversial" because it would run through "an environmentally-sensitive area in Nebraska." As such, Hall added, President Obama wants to explore "other possible routes." Meanwhile "digging is on hold, likely until after the presidential election."

Four hours earlier on Chris Jansing Reports, substitute host Richard Lui very briefly noted that "critics claim the delay will cost the U.S. some 20,000 new jobs." There was no reference to the fact that many of those critics are Democrat-friendly labor unions.

For her part, veteran journalist Andrea Mitchell brought up the pipeline issue in an interview with former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean in her 12 p.m. Eastern program Andrea Mitchell Reports. Yet Mitchell failed to note that labor unions support the pipeline, portraying the dispute as one between environmentalists and "energy supporters," suggesting it's merely energy companies that are lobbying for the project.

Mitchell also failed to ask Dean about the potential job loss thanks to Obama's decision, although she did press Dean on whether Obama's move was simply a "political" as opposed to a "substantive" policy decision.

I don't get it...

First Obama waited so long to send those trade agreements to be pased that the election will be over by time the jobs they create will kick in. And now he is postponing another big job creating project until after the election. Then when you throw in what the NLRB is doing to Boeing, does Obama want a high unemployment rate while he is running for re-election.

lost union jobs

The silence of the union bosses will illustrate their disconnect from the needs of the rank and file.

The big issue with this. . .

Submitted by rickbren on Fri, 11/11/2011 - 11:55pm.

. . .is that a break in the pipe could cause contamination of the Ogallala aquifer. But the pipeline would pass over the eastern most part of the aquifer and the water in the aquifer flows west to east. So, IF the pipe broke, the impact would be minimal.

With that said, Barry wants any job that is NOT related to the oil, gas, coal, or nuclear or non union industries.

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment.

Eh, What's a Few People?

Submitted by Annie Ashe Fields on Sat, 11/12/2011 - 8:16am.

What's a few people when the snail darter, delta smelt, or sagebrush lizard is at stake?

We don't need no stinkin' oil!

We don't need worry that we've made a "Congressional Dustbowl" out of the richest, most productive farmland in all of America, once the producer of HALF of ALL our fruits, nuts, and vegetables!

Only a soulless, despotic TYRANT would deprive his own people of water! Or energy!

Whah?

Obama...?

Oh.

You're an ABUSED WIFE, America. STOP TAKING the BEATINGS and still loving your MAN and fall back in love with MARRIAGE. It CAN be a happy place WITH THE RIGHT GUY.

Shouldn't the first principle of a President be like that of a physician? "First, do NO HARM?" I get all the greenies want to keep aquifers & critters, etc. from harm, but GOD ALMIGHTY. Not only do we have CLEAR choices between MAN & NATURE being made where MAN LOSES EVERY TIME, but we have a higher order of magnitude of a President ACTIVELY *TRYING* to "BANKRUPT" ENTIRE INDUSTRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's HOSTILE, friends. That's NOT someone who is YOUR FRIEND.

Again - YOU'RE AN ABUSED WIFE, AMERICA. STOP TAKING THE BEATINGS.

Obama wants to create jobs,

Submitted by motherbelt on Sat, 11/12/2011 - 9:10am.

Obama wants to create jobs, but they have to be the "right kind" of jobs.

They have to be "green-energy, sustainable, environmentally friendly" jobs. These jobs, obviously, are not the "right kind" of jobs.

And we should all be sympathetic to the agony of this decision. It must have been horrendous for the president; after all, the UNIONS actually support this pipeline.

Like they're going to turn on him.......

<Chris Matthews imitation>  HA!!
