WaPo's 'blogPOST': Christian College's New Faculty Code of Conduct Akin to Nazi Persecution
Here we go again. A Christian college is revising its code of conduct for faculty members, expecting a commitment to personal conduct that's in line with biblical ethics, including on matters of sexual behavior.
But, of course, all the liberal media will focus on is a new "ban" on gay or lesbian faculty members at Shorter University, a Baptist institution with campuses in Atlanta and Rome, Georgia.
But Washington Post blogger Elizabeth Flock went even further, quoting a student at Shorter who compared the school's move to Nazi persecution:
Tamara King Henderson, a student at Shorter who says she is bisexual, commented on the Georgia Voice story that she was concerned the pledge could impact her education. “This could hurt the University’s ability to attract the best and the brightest professors available... [and] ability to receive federal funds.”
Henderson also quoted anti-Nazi theologian and Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller, who said: “ First they came for the communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.”
“Will the students be next?” she asked.
Of course, Henderson has been attending a school whose mission statement reads (emphasis mine):
The mission of Shorter College is to provide quality higher education, enabling and encouraging student commitment to active life-long learning, personal spiritual values, responsible citizenship, and community and societal leadership in a global context.
The College seeks to accomplish this mission through quality undergraduate liberal arts programs, specialized professional programs, and select graduate programs. Geographically distant locations provide educational opportunities to individuals who are unable to attend classes in the traditional setting. The College affirms a commitment to the Christian faith and strives to integrate Christian values within a nurturing community in its whole process of education.
A "Personal Lifestyle Statement" pledge for faculty that prohibits premarital sex, drinking alcohol in front of students, and being active in a local church seems eminently reasonable of a Christian college to mandate of its faculty, but Flock failed to find a single defender to make that point in her 8-paragraph November 1 post.

They just can't help it, can they. They just can't stop trying to compare a code of ethics with the Nazi laws governing race.
Hay, idiots, the Nazis didn't persecute people for their ethics, but for their very genes. There was a case of a German Officer who was declared a "pure Aryan," even though his father was a Jew, simply because the mother "testified" that, although her husband was Jew, her son wasn't because his father was actually her own Uncle. Think about it: incest was ok, as long as the father, or mother, wasn't a Jew. So, what did the race laws have to do with a code of ethics? Nothing. So WHY do people keep trying to equate the two? Are they really that stupid?

I think they know the comparison is unjust, but are so driven by hatred, that there is NO absurdity that goes beyond the pale.
(does anyone know how I could cut the above headline and paste to a PowerPoint slide? I could use this at my church.) (or any headline really)

of those, like Henderson, who want to insert themselves into situations where they know, or should know, they are not going to be welcomed. Are they so self-absorbed that they are determined to force others to surrender their own values and adopt, or at least approve of, the values of the usurper?
Ms. Henderson says she's "bisexual". Translation: I want to satisfy my carnal lusts anyway I can.
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Yes so when does the college plan on gassing them? Total BS!
Christian organizations have an OBLIGATION to enforce the moral code they believe in! It has been turned on its head the last 50 yrs. and see how that has turned out? A bunch of immoral people running the Country into the ground! DOING what is RIGHT TO THEM vs. doing what IS right! How's that working out?

the foolishness of liberals. No offense to anyone who attended/graduated from that school but we're not talking about a college competing with Ivy League universities for professors/instructers. So it's hard to understand why someone like Henderson would chose to attend a school whose mission statement they were so in conflict with.

When the KKK or Westboro Baptist is invited to attend some San Fran-freak show parade, then I might consider your argument. Until then, you CHOSE to attend a school that defines it's mission as instilling Christian value. If you don't like it, you could, maybe, take a break and go hiking in Iran.

Isn't it ironic that Henderson would choose that particular quote? How appropriate it will become if she, the reporter, and others get their way. They will try to force religious institutions and groups to bend to their way of thinking and forget all about scripture. They will, despite all their high-minded rhetoric about "separation of church and state," demand that the church conform to the state. And when the Shorters and the Catholic Universitys are gone, and some other group comes along to challenge her positions, who will be left to stand with her?

Seems rather arrogant and judgmental to assume that the "best and the brightest professors" must be only those who lack the principles espoused by the school's code of ethics for faculty.

Give me a break! Only a liberal, socialist, moron could think that. Just like any liberal college will denounce any conservative viewpoint, Christian colleges have every right to not allow any non Chirstian belief. If someone doesn't have the same beliefs, why are they going to a Christian college? To throw their beliefs in the face of GOD is the only reason.
Sort of reminds me of this:

I can think of at least two school that have a sticker employee policy that has to be signed. All I have to say to the teachers, is if you don't want to sign. Just quit and find a job with another school. You will probably make more money there and they will not make you sign such a pledge. Since Christian Colleges are famous for not paying a lot of money to it's teacher as they are to be working for the Glory of God and not for just a pay check. As for the students, go to anther school. There are plenty of colleges that are in the country and around Atlanta there are a number that you can attend. If you don't like it just leave. Transfer your credits (if you have any) and go elsewhere.
