UPDATED | Obama Energy Dept. Literally Re-writing History; Will Media Report?
By Ken Shepherd | October 19, 2011 | 18:35
Update (10:00 EDT, Oct. 20): CNBC has an update/correction on the story:
<<Update: On Wednesday evening, a Department of Energy spokesman said that the press releases had been returned to their original content as a result of CNBC's inquiry about the changes.
Correction: A previous headline on this article incorrectly characterized the press releases as being related to Solyndra.>>
Is the Obama administration literally rewriting history when it comes to the Solyndra scandal Energy Department's solar energy loan programs?
"Someone affiliated with the Department of Energy has been going back to make changes to press releases posted on the Internet weeks and months ago," Eamon Javers of CNBC reported this afternoon.
It remains to be seen what attention if any this attracts from other media outlets, such as the broadcast networks.
"The changes occurred in two press releases from the Department of Energy's loan guarantee program — the same program that has been the center of controversy surrounding the failed solar company Solyndra," Javers noted. "In a statement, a spokesman for the Department of Energy said that the changes were made by outside contractors for the department responsible for maintaining the Loan Programs Office website."
Perhaps this really isn't such a big deal, at least compared to the much more serious aspects of the loan approval process in the first place, but one imagines if this happened under the Bush administration's watch, the scrutiny of government missteps, including altering the public record, would be much greater.

That is exactly what came to mind when I read the story. Can't you see all these people with scissors, erasers, and whiteout making "corrections" to past WH press releases? Oh, wait! Thanks to word processing tools and Al Gore's Amazing Internet, it's become much easier for them to rewrite history. It's also much easier now for us to see their press releases in original form.
The take away here is that you can tell where Obama's people feel most vulnerable by observing what in their past makes them create the most flop sweat. Like Solyndra.

Yea!!! My lucky day. I will certainly thank Dear Leader, for he is good and generous to all of us. May his toilet never run over, may his roof never leak, may his necktie never get caught in the fan of his car radiator.

I'm glad you blogged this- I noted it earlier in the GOP Debate thread and was hoping someone here might find it noteworthy.
You said: "Perhaps this really isn't such a big deal..." and you may very well be right. But my thought is, if they're doing this on this story, how many other times has this happened, or will happen between now and the time this guy gets his eviction notice in Jan '13? And not only that, but revising contemporary history puts a whole new spin on progressive politics, does it not? Forget all the blather about "most transparent, blah, blah, blah" this administration seems to channel the worst elements of the Nixon administration as SOP. This is but one example.

Didn't Michelle say during the campaign that they were going to change our history? I guess it's one campaign promise they're going to keep.

FOIA for the originals
Submitted by retrocon on Wed, 10/19/2011 - 8:22pm.
Someone in the press needs to FOIA for the originals, if they have even one of the pre-change items, and Energy refuses, it's a federal case.
Also, i believe that the originals could be considered federal "records," especially if they conveyed official actions or policy at the time. Changing them could, as indicated earlier, be a felony.

Totalitarian State

This is another sign of our totalitarian state.
I wrote about this before, but worth mentioning again this story in Texas that is not getting media coverage...
A business owner was involved in a civil dispute and paid millions of dollars to lawyers, and when he objected to additional fees after settling the case, they had a Clinton appointed, “friendly” judge seize all of his possessions, without any notice or hearing, and essentially ordered him under “house arrest” as an involuntary servant to the lawyers. The business owner has been under this "servant" order for 10 months and is prohibited from owning any possessions, prohibited from working, etc..
...and some quotes from the judge:
THE COURT: "I'm telling you don't scr-w with me. You are a fool, a fool, a fool, a fool to scr-w with a federal judge, and if you don't understand that, I can make you understand it. I have the force of the Navy, Army, Marines and Navy behind me."
THE COURT: "You realize that order is an order of the Court. So any failure to comply with that order is contempt, punishable by lots of dollars, punishable by possible jail, death"
http://www.lawinjustice.com has an explanation of this case.
what most people don't realize...
Submitted by retrocon on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 10:13am.
Our elected legislators can, under the US Constitution, at any time we insist, disband the federal judiciary (except the SCOTUS), and/or change rules like "contempt" to prevent this kind of abuse.
They can also define to SCOTUS their limits, yes,
Article III, Section 2: "In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make."
But they don't, do they?
Did you ever wonder why?
Here's a news flash.

Everything posted on the web gets captured and archived by a good half dozen private entities.
So the morons that think that performing these updates will erase their deeds is actually aiding in identifying the scum we're dealing with for what they are and doing ZERO about erasing their posted/reported on the web content.
Game over on that one.
