WaPo's Nakamura Fails to Note Hoffa's Violent Rhetoric at Obama Labor Day Rally
The Washington Post treated President Obama's Detroit Labor Day rally to page A3 coverage, with a 19-paragraph September 6 story by staffer David Nakamura.
Controversial Teamsters president James P. Hoffa -- son of the late Jimmy Hoffa -- was quoted, but not the infamous "take these sons of bitches out" line that has been reported elsewhere.
Indeed, Nakamura aimed to paint the partisanship of the labor union rally in a positive light by comparing Obama to "give 'em Hell" Harry Truman's come-from-behind 1948 campaign:
At one point, Obama quoted a speech that Harry S. Truman gave in Detroit on Labor Day in 1948, in which he said that when labor thrives, so does the rest of the nation. The text was given to Obama aboard Air Force One by Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.), who said afterward that he wanted to give the president “a give-’em-hell kind of speech.”
Obama will need a strong turnout from labor supporters to help him win reelection in 2012, and Teamsters President James P. Hoffa urged the crowd to turn out at the polls in force.
“There is a war on workers and you see it everywhere,” Hoffa said. “You see it in unemployment, you see it in the tea party, in people who fight what we believe in. President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march and, President Obama, we want one thing: jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs.”

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out..."
Politico hasn't touched this story in their headlines. I believe it doesn't fit their left-wing agenda. Can't wait to not hear about it during the Republican debate. Maybe they'll find a way to blame Bush for Hoffa's words. Each candidate on stage should work this into their remarks somehow. The media won't report it - the candidates can repeat it.
Don't you love the way some sites are fixing the grammar? If they have covered the story, they report, "...sons of bitches..." Kinda like a dog whistle on the left.

they played the quote - bleeped out the cuss and it was never addressed. However, Mr Hoffa did share his opinion that the TEA Party is the most destructive force in America. Perhaps Mr Hoffa should use some of his own capital and take his own risks in this market and create some jobs.
Hoffa's comment no surprise.

I'm not sure why everyone is up in arms about a union thug threatening bodily harm on a bunch of "SOB's" because that is pretty standard fair. I just say, "Hey, Jimmy! Who's, I mean, where's your daddy?
What was more outrageous was Bambi shifting into his "Negro dialect when he needs to" as Harry Reid called it, to speak to the "res-e-dents of Dee-troit," as he called them. "Ever'body, ahh, ahh, ahh, there auta be ah, ahh, ahhh, outraged, you know, about how he shift to ghetto speak to talk to'em, ahh, ahh, RIGHT? You know whut I'm sayin?"
Talk about a condescending son of a bitch. For the life of me, I cannot understand how the black community can put up with this phony bastard talking down to them, "awe'de time, YO KNOW?" He obviously thinks that they are so dumb, uneducated, stupid, and gullible that they will keep falling for it.
Maybe he's right.
Something isn't quite correct.

Not dismissing the remark, the context though seems to be off. There's no mention of Hoffa stating "Everybody here has got to vote!". I've seen the whole speech and have come to the conclusion Fox did edit the speech.

There's also no mention of Hoffa stating "Hi, folks, thanks for coming, I'm Jimmy Hoffa Jr."
"So what?" is not a good response.

But yet you see no parallel in Hoffa's violent rhetoric being totally ignored by the MSM, not to mention the DNC leader who refuses to even acknowledge it was said.
That's what is ridiculous, and we all know it.

vitriol only matters if conservatives can be accused
Submitted by ohio granny on Tue, 09/06/2011 - 10:31am.
No matter how vile or threatening the dems talk, the MSM will still accuse republicans and conservatives of using noncivil talk. These people, MSM and dems/same thing, are dispicable. They are nothing but liars and thugs.
The 6- 7 percent of workers that are public employee union members are for the most part parasites. They do not produce anything, they only take. Granted some of them are necessary, but a good percentage are not. They are nothing but a collection agency for the democrat party. Every penny they funnel to the democrats comes out of the taxpayers pockets. It is time for this to stop.
The 85 - 90 percent of the taxpayers who do NOT belong to any union are by far a larger part of the electorate. If democrats to think they can bully or threaten us and we will just sit and take it they are sadly mistaken.
WE ARE FED UP AND ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY LONGER. WE ARE GOING TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FOR YOU PARSASITES. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it.

The way the Left and Unions operate

Let's say you belong to a union shop, yet you disagree with the way your dues are being spent; or disagree with the union bosses to go on strike. Do you keep silent; or do you say something and get your tires slashed, get passed over for jobs, be told "we're at war with you, and we're gonna take you out"? What's the answer?
Suppose you're a conservative in the MSM, trying to work your way up the ladder? Do you admit you're a conservative, or do you keep quiet about it?
What about a conservative professor at a University?
The LEFT has the violent, hateful people. And they celebrate that fact every day through intimidation, lies, threats, and the like. Hoffa is Exhibit A; the MSM neglect on this is Exhibit B; Wasserman's acceptance of Hoffa's words on this morning's Fox & Friends is Exhibit C; and obama's refusal to condemn this type of speech is hypocritical Exhibit D.

These are the people who immediately attacked the right for the horrific shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords. They of course ASSUMED that the attacker, Jared Loughner, had to be a far-right-winger too. Obama called for civility in an eloquent speech afterwards - I guess he really didn't mean it.

Obama recounted a pro-labor union Harry Truman anecdote related to him by Sen. Dick Durbin.
But in 1950, Turman signed an executive order (EO 10161) that created the Office of Price Stabilization and the Wage Stabilization Board, putting all prices and wage hikes under the control of the Federal government.
In 1952, with a hot war raging in Korea and a Cold War with the USSR growing, the steel workers unions threatened to go on strike over the wage freeze. Steel, of course, was a strategic industry, and Truman was alarmed when he was informed that even a 10-day strike would have a severe impact on arms and missile production. So Give 'Em Hell Harry seriously considered enacting Section 18 of the Selective Training & Service Act, which authorizes the Federal government to take control of critical industries in time of national emergency, to include drafting all the employees into the Army to put them under military control and discipline, should they refuse to work. As I recall, Truman said something like, "We'll see how they like that." He only abandoned the idea when advisors told him that the process for enacting Section 18 was too complicated.
