Obama Pines for the Days of Pre-blog Monolithic Mainstream Media

Charlie Spiering of the Beltway Confidential blog for the Washington Examiner yesterday noted how President Obama is pining for the days of monolithic media, when Americans all watched, and trusted, liberal anchor Walter Cronkite [video follows page break]:

While President Obama was in Iowa, he was asked about the heated rhetoric and unwillingness to compromise. The President compared himself to Lincoln, as highlighted by Byron York, then he compared Washington politics to his marriage,("I let Michelle have her way 90% of the time") and finally blamed the changed media landscape for the rise in partisan politics.

"It used to be that everybody was sitting there watching Walter Cronkite, now everybody is on their own little blog or on their own separate news forum. If you're a Democrat you're reading the New York Times, if you're a Republican, you're watching Fox News. . . people don't listen to each other much."

Well, at least he admitted the obvious: the New York Times is gospel to the Left.

Republicans watch fox

Submitted by wingnut55 on Wed, 08/17/2011 - 3:31pm.

You know I get that all the time. I am connately accused of watching Fox news. I don't watch any news outlet, or read any newspaper. I form my own opinion. Why do I need Fox News or ole uncle Walter to tell me what to think?

You got your shot...........you blew it. It's too bad that we've had to endure such pain and suffering as a result of your big scam..............

How is everyone getting their

Submitted by Dave81 on Wed, 08/17/2011 - 5:15pm.

How is everyone getting their news from the same source "listening to each other"? That's only having one option, and if that only option is wrong then you're screwed.

"I let Michelle get her way

"I let Michelle get her way 90% of the time."

Left unsaid: "on the trivial things. That way, she thinks she is getting her way. But I -- and only I -- get my way on the important things in our life. And that's the way it ought to be with the Republicans. I'm in charge, and they should acknowledge that".

spews predictable banalities; hence, I don't listen to Barack Obama, and will immediately switch channels when he begins to speak. Ditto for Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, and most of the mainstream fabricators. Regardless of the era, it has always been important to filter out the crap. Especially as you get older, the quality of your precious time becomes very important.

Look Who's Talkin!

Submitted by billwhit1357 on Thu, 08/18/2011 - 4:32am.

If it hadn't been for the internet, Obama would never have been elected! Now this Fool is talking about how bad it is! It is he and his Ilk that have made the media into voice boxes just for him. I am an expatriote who has lived overseas for over twenty years. I have only seen Fox a couple of time when I was home, in Oklahoma, on vacation. I also watched MSNBC, which was so sickening, I lasted about five minutes before changing channels. I have seen one Glen Beck program, which was ok but wasn't real impressed. I watch People, what they say, how they act, their personal lives, past lives, etc, and then make an opinion about them. I was a Democrat all my life, only voted Republican twice, for Reagan and McCain. I even voted for Kerry. But Obama, Pelosi, and Reid turned it into the Looney Tunes, which is so UnAmerican, I will never be part of it agaiin!
