WaPo, NYT Solicit Help From Readers to Examine Palin E-mail Archive

By Ken Shepherd | June 09, 2011 | 15:25

Ken Shepherd's picture

Both the Washington Post and the New York Times are looking for readers to help them comb through every jot and tittle of Sarah Palin's official gubernnatorial e-mail correspondence.

I guess that's a few more jobs the Obama administration can claim credit for, especially since it indirectly amounts to free oppo research for the 2012 Obama campaign.

See a related post by my colleague Clay Waters over at TimesWatch here.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think a Pulitzer Prize will probably be awarded to these great and awesome elitists who work at the NYT or "Washington Post" in researching these emails, and everybody knows what a prestigous and impressive award a Pulitzer Prize is.

Digging into Palin's vs Weiner's email's ??

Submitted by Gary Hall on Thu, 06/09/2011 - 4:04pm.

Wow - Certainly would seem that if they wanted to dig thru anybody's emails, in the moment, it would be Anthony Weiner's.

Now, one has to wonder what the reaction (you listening here Howie Kurtz?) would be from the national MSM, if a conservative leaning newspaper, or cable news organization put out such a request on a Democrat Party candidate -- perhaps Mr O, himself.

Best available/ Media be damned

Submitted by vote24 on Thu, 06/09/2011 - 4:43pm.

This is where we make a stand. If we allow Palin to be labaled as unelectable because of the left wing media attacks. Then what good is the system as it stands. I feel Palin is the best candidate to be President in 2012. But plain and simple, if the media has a hand, a big hand, any hand in choosing it's opposition's candidates, then the game is over. So I will stand and fight one last time for the best available candidate. After this we take 'em down.

This is dangerous ground the NYT and WaPo are entering. What if just one of the inquisitors, err volunteer investigators, latches onto or tries to bury one of Sarah’s personal E-mails sent from a non-Alaska owned gizmo in their report. Make a long story short. “It’s Jail Time Baby!”

And here’s a good conspiracy theory: What if the WP and NYT are trying to distance themselves from reviewing Sarah’s personal E-mails by bundling them in with the official E-Mails… The poor schmuk who fall for this scam will be left holding the bag… you can bet these sleazy outfit’s already have their legal “i’s and t’s” dotted and crossed.

I Am Shocked!

Submitted by stratman on Thu, 06/09/2011 - 9:48pm.

Two Pinko institutions asking for help with dirty tricks from fellow Pinkos.  Shocking!  (not)

I find the description of "Pinko" by Wikipedia to be most enlightening.  It also exemplifies the classic phrase "what's old is new".  The Progressives of today are the American societal killers of yesteryear but with the Media in its backpocket, a couple generations of indoctrinating youth to their propaganda, and the internet at its rabble-rousing disposal:

  • The word pinko was coined by Time magazine in 1925 as a variant on the noun and adjective pink, which had been used along with parlor pink since the beginning of the 20th century to refer to those of leftish sympathies, usually with an implication of "effeteness".[1] In the 1920s, for example, a Wall Street Journal editorial described supporters of the progressive politician Robert La Follette as “visionaries, ne’er do wells, parlor pinks, reds, hyphenates [Americans with divided allegiance], soft handed agriculturalists and working men who have never seen a shovel.”[2]
