What Part of the Apostles' Creed Does Sally Quinn Not Understand?

By Ken Shepherd | May 20, 2011 | 16:17

In her May 20 Moderator's View blog post at "On Faith," entitled "May 21, 2011: Not the end of the world," Washington Post's Sally Quinn at one point describes a belief in the "end times" as one held by "a large segment of Christians."

But that's kind of like saying "a large segment of Hindus believe in reincarnation."

Orthodox Christianity by its very definition requires a belief in a certain Christ-centered eschatology involving the Second Coming of Christ.

What part of "He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead," doesn't atheist Sally Quinn understand?

God of the living...

Submitted by MaximusBraveheart on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 4:57pm.

We will go on living after our death of this body. For as he said, he is God of the living, and not of the dead. There is no way it will be Sunday, however, because he said none will know. To know would violate his Word.

-- Maximusbraveheart -- Is TRUTH knowable? Moral Relativism is the abandonment of Truth. Truth is knowable. Truth conforms to Reality. Reality is observable by evidence & witness in this day & from history. Relativism is Sesame Street play land.

Quick being an old-fashioned word for living.
: not dead : living, alive

Middle English quik, from Old English cwic; akin to Old Norse kvikr living, Latin vivus living, vivere to live, Greek bios, zōē life
First Known Use: before 12th century

Sheds a whole new light on

Sheds a whole new light on that crappy "The Quick and the Dead" movie. Doesn't excuse it, though.

Doesn't excuse cop killing either.

Submitted by The Vet on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 9:22pm.

But you did. Time after time after time after time... I do wish you would go and provide some proof of your saying 2 cop killers are possibly innocent. It is going on one week now that you threw this in our face that 2 cop killers should walk free without the slightest hint of evidence.

Quickening

Submitted by KC Mulville on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 7:08pm.

Before Harry Blackmun's Roe v. Wade decision popularized the phrase "viability," the word "quickening" was a standard term. They didn't always mean the same exact thing, but they were in the same ballpark.

The quickening - perception

Submitted by stratman on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 7:21pm.

The quickening - perception of first movements of a fetus by the pregnant woman.  In days of old in the US, 19th Century and back, post-quickening, abortion was considered a crime because it was proof of a living baby.

Even if....

Submitted by GeneralAl on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 5:22pm.

Even if the invisible Church of Jesus Christ was indeed raptured [That is "Caught up"] this Saturday, the likes of Sally "Not so Mighty" Quinn would find a way to rationalize the disappearance. She would claim it was a trick or else they've all gone into hiding. She would follow that by saying "Good riddance" as the Anti-Christ deceives her. I wouldn't even waste my time with this atheist God hater. The Devil will claim her in due time!

Slept Her Way to the Top

Submitted by BW222 on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 6:32pm.

The fact the Washington Post has a woman whose claim to fame is that she worked her way to the top by sleeping with the boss writing about faith speaks volumes.

Sally is as bad as a whore. No, she's worse, a whore is a busineswoman, not a homwrecker.

Based on what I've read, seen and heard about Sally Quinn...

Submitted by PrairieSky on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 7:10pm.

over the years, I have come to the conclusion that, among other things, this is not a smart woman.

Quinn managed to get her first job at the WaPo with vitually zero experience in journalism, and is believed by many to have been the cause of the breakup of her current husband's (Ben Bradlee, who just happens to be the former editor and current vice-president of the WaPo) previous marriage. She has repeatedly gotten into trouble over a number of controversies that she has created. She was, amazingly, writing a column for the Religion section of the print edition of the WaPo, but in 2010, after yet another self-made controversy, her column was cancelled, and she is no longer writing for the print edition, but is writing a blog about religion for the paper. As a result of all this, anything that this dim bulb has to say on just about any subject, especially religion, is essentially irrelevant.

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction...It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them (our children) to do the same." ~President Ronald Reagan

She is of the kind who wants to picks and choose the scriptures that she believes. Once we start picking and choosing then we start the decline into apostasy.

...proud, know-nothing, fool!

The Apostle's Creed comes from the Catholic church (the Harlot of Revelations 17) and their "reformed" offspring. It is not Christian, nor is it biblical. For those of you practicing popery I urge you to read your King James bible and learn the biblical doctrines Jesus Christ died for.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Proverbs 1:7
