Name That Party: Balt Sun Notes Mayor Voting on Contracts That Favor Husband's Company; Paper Omits Her Party Affiliation
"Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has voted to approve more than $900,000 in deals with Johns Hopkins since her husband began working for one of its divisions late last year — a possible violation of the city ethics code."
That's how the Baltimore Sun's Julie Scharper began her March 16 story -- published last night online here -- about the Democratic mayor's votes on the city's board that authorizes spending for public contracts.
Yet Scharper failed to note Rawlings-Blake's Democratic Party affiliation.
As we've noted here at NewsBusters, the Sun also had a spotty record of noting the party affiliation of Rawlings-Blake's immediate predecessor in office, Democrat Sheila Dixon, who left office following conviction on embezzlement charges.
You can find our archive of stories on Dixon here and our archive on Baltimore Sun bias here.

Being a state/city that is 75% Democtratic (maybe more) that has The Baltimore Sun in the party's corner what would you expect? Maryland is the little liberal brother of California. And we are following step for step their demise. As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances there is a twilight. And it is in such twilight that we all must be aware of the change in the air, however slight. Lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.
To be fair...

It is the local paper, and in Baltimore the rpimary determines the mayor. This, of ocurse, is why many "registered democrats" vote nationally for Republicans; they are simply Democrats to avoid being disenfranchised. (This also explains some of the skew in Jews and official minorities.) I remeber going to the polls in Baltimore. After searching vainly for me, the poll worker remembered to also check the Republicasn box.
