AP Man-on-the-Street Video: 'Public Seems Skeptical of Obama's Nobel Win'

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

The Associated Press took to the streets of Washington, D.C. and Chicago this morning for reaction from everyday citizens about President Obama's Nobel Prize win. All but one of the featured interviewees expressed at least some skepticism about the president's worthiness to receive the award. And no, it seems none of these men (and woman) on the street are rabid right-wingers.

The video has received front-page treatment on Google News, headlined, "Video: Public Seems Skeptical of Obama's Nobel Win."

Skeptical?

I'm not.  I know exactly why they awarded it to him....it's George Bush's fault. BDS, really.

Obama is not George Bush.  This was another slap at Bush, nothing more.

Thanks tho, Ken.  It's nice to know even Obama fans see the absurdity in this "Peace Prize".

I hope he fails, too.

What Blonde said. No true

What Blonde said.

No true conservative would want the award now anyway. Except McCain, of course, but I did say true conservative. :-)

Skeptical??

My my...nothing gets past these intellectual midgets!!  The american public is skeptical......geez, what was your first clue you idjit????

Well Deserved

President Barack Hussein Obama joins such notable world lights as Jimmy Carter, Albert Gore, and Yasssir Arafat in that pantheon of honor, the Nobel Peace Prize.

Today, Americans should feel awed and grateful that the distinguished Nobel committee has recognized such a worthy, accomplished humanitarian for this magnificent award.

Today, the American Flag waves with renewed gallantry and pride over the supreme achievement of one of its native sons.

That, Abraxos

For God's sake man, the "line" here is "conservative" with the occassional libertarian.

It's a philosophical line, not a "party" line.  You'll get far more pertinent and direct critiques of the Republican party here than any leftists site.

I've watched you dribbling all over the posts here for a while

UpNorth

You mean like this?

Notice the knotted knickers the democrats had in reaction to the Broward County Republicans having target practice, later in the story.

Pretty funny, actually.

I hope he fails, too.

Blonde,

we had the same thing happen in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, a couple of Rep. county commissioners had a get together, for shooting guns.  Unfortunately, a couple of .50 rounds got away, and one hit a van about 2 miles away, and the ground.  After the local sheriff's dept had inspected the range and pronounced it fit for what was planned.

The money quote was from a guy driving down the highway, who claimed that he heard 3 rounds go past his vehicle as he was driving.  He even qualified it that it was the .50 he heard.  That guy should immediately enlist and go to A-stan or Iraq, he could be invaluable in pinpointing enemy positions with his acute hearing.

LOL

A democrat, no doubt.

I hope he fails, too.

to think he WAS a lib/dem who saw a chance to get his name in the papers and trash someone he disagreed with.  Said he was doing the speed limit(55) at the time, and heard each of the 3 .50 rounds go by.

Swear that's what he said in his "interview", where he insisted on remaining nameless to avoid "retaliation".

Welcome to Newsbusters troll. We hope your stay here, no matter how short that stay may be, is pleasant for you.

You will soon learn that you are no match for the intellectual prowess that resides here. Much of what is said, and most of the replies to your inane ramblings, will go completely over your head. We understand that you are liberal, therefor you intellectual capacities are limited, but we can't dumb down for you. Break open a dictionary, or ask an adult when you get confused by the facts you will encounter here.

And if there is anything I can do to help, please hesitate to ask.

You haven't made a point.

Anyway, here at Newsbusters, articles may take on a variety of types. The main goal is to identify, and correct liberal media bias. It is not the only goal.

Now, run along.

It happens quite often and it provides an interesting juxtaposition to the liberal bias that is apparent at other times in the same media outlet.

He got it because he fits the EUROPEAN model

He got it because he fits the European model of what an American President should be. It should disqualify any sitting President if he wins such a prize and then accepts it. He is the President of the United States of America. His first, last and only priority should be what is good for America and Americans. This is not as isolationist as it sounds, it just means that all actions and policies should always pass through that filter and that is not what the Nobel Committee wants. So I say yes he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize but the winning of that particular honor does not bode well for us in this country.

Of course you did not offend me. ;) Yes, you are stereotyping Norwegians (LOL), but it's true that a heck of a lot of Norwegians do have blonde hair...I'd say it's 2-1 in Norway. But you must be psychic because I DO have a touch of red in my hair! It's hard to explain, but my hair is a light-brown color, with strawberry blonde running through it. One of my friends finally explained the color this way -- and she's right, so I'm stealing her explanation. ^_^ Okay, if you can see the color of my eyes, I'm totally freaked out! Dang, these computers are so much more high-tech than I originally thought!^_^

How about this joke (adapted)

Sven and Oly got a pilot to fly them to Canada to hunt moose. They bagged six. As they started loading the plane for the return trip, the pilot said the plane could take only four moose. The Sven and Oly objected strongly. "Last year we shot six and the pilot let us put them all on board; he had the same plane as yours." Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six were loaded. However, even on full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load and went down a few moments after take-off. Climbing out of the wreck one Sven asked Oly, "Any idea where we are?" "Yaaah I tink we's pretty close to where we crashed last year. Do ya tink we will git a Nobel for this one?"
