"It feels a bit like 9/11 on Martha's Vineyard. End-of-summer weather is achingly beautiful but the mood is melancholy because of Teddy." [click image at right to see larger image of screen capture]

Thus wrote Matt Cooper, editor of Conde Nast Portfolio on his Twitter page a few hours ago. The former Time magazine White House correspondent, who also writes for Huffington Post, walked back his statement a bit later after some criticism from other Twitter users:

Didn't mean to equate Teddy's death with the murders of 9/11. Only meant small similarity: beautiful weather, tragic feel. HT @thetonylee

Cooper followed that with two other tweets to JP Freire of the Washington Examiner and Greg Mitchell of Editor & Publisher magazine, respectively:

@JPFreire You're right. I put it poorly and didn't mean to equate 3000 murders with one expected death.

@GregMitch Said it clumsily. Didn't mean to equate one death with 3000 murders, only the contrast with late summer weather and sadness.

All it takes...

...is to hear something so completely inane, that is so far beyond comprehension, from a blathering moron like this guy; to understand why far-left liberals are held in such contempt by most people that visit this website. I really think liberalism has become a bonafide mental disorder on a par with sheer madness. There's just no other way to explain the idiocy.

RESPONDING TO KOOKS

 RESPONSE TO KOOK LIB POSTERS

You
may be faced with the common web virus…a kook liberal (aka secular
socialist) poster…they have nothing to offer but get under your skin
because of their smears, topic-shifting and insults…they have nothing
else to offer…
feel free to copy-paste the post response below…use it often…
do not go back to see how they responded…most of the time they just go away…
its free from me…use at will.

put in SUBJECT BOX >>> KOOK LIB POSTER PROFILE

1. Profanity is very common (replaces logic or class)
2. Uses personal insults when challenged (replaces logic or class)
3. Changes the subject
4. Fails to answer the challenge
5. Points at other bad behavior to excuse theirs or their Party’s
6. Often makes serial fact-less assertions
7. Has no sense of history
8. Is really not interested in depth or “why” questions
9. Is usually angry and sarcastic (replaces logic or class)
10. Runs away or has a verbal fit when nailed with facts
11. Sincerely believes you are stupid to reject secular socialism

By these you shall know the common kook liberal who offers online discussion nothing but a place to vent lifelong anger…

Many thanks

May I ask, is there a clinical term for this malady? I would guess 'Bush Derangement Syndrome' is an offshoot of the more general medical term.

You mean like this one?

"August 27, 2009 - 00:01 ET by Dan The Man 2

the world as we know it is NOT going to end in 2010. Life goes on, and there's always one more election

Thats what all dictatorshipstell their populace and if we dont stand up theremay not be any more open elections.  They will all be rigged like in Canada. "

Which went unanswered and fits a few of your points.

BTW I did ask for proof.

Yeah, that's right

When I think of 9/11, the first word that comes to mind is "melancholy".  Then I think about the beautiful weather that day.

Jeeze.  I hate these glimpses into the liberal mind because it always scares the heck out of me.

"I support the President but not his policies" - Blonde

Except for everything about

Except for everything about it, it's just like 9/11.

You go by what he first

You go by what he first said. He did mean to equate an act of terrorism and war and the deaths of almost 3000 Americans to the death of Ted Kennedy. People who are writing here are correct; liberals love to equate themselves with things bigger than themselves to make them feel superior. This is one gleaming example.

If we had said Strom Thurmond's death or any other Republican's death was like 9/11 we would be ridiculed and villified and rightly so. But he will be given a pass because he's a profound liberal who is slobbering at the heels of The Swimmer.

You wonder why journalism is so terrible, Matt Cooper is the poster boy for its downfall.

You support the troops by supporting the mission! If you don't support the mission, have the guts to say you don't support the troops.

Obama: Not my President. Ever.

Arch

You are right on the mark on all accounts!

According to some, I'm not

According to some, I'm not right often. But thank you.

Pathetic

This guys IQ must be lower than a rock.when I think back to 9/11  I remember rage among other emotions not the frelling weather.

Kennedy is like 9/11. They were murderers too.

My own comparison...

9/11:  outrage, anger, shock, heartache at the loss of lives and the respect for the dedication of the ones who were first responders. Giving all for others.

Chappaquiddick: outrage, shock (that someone would leave another human behind to cover their a$$) ...He should have been exhiled to Douchebagistan for his cowardice and self serving.  Always another line of crap..good riddance to the Lion (lyin?) of the Communist state of Mass.

Nobody says nothing better than Obama.

There is zero similarity, thanks.

And if you're that "poor" and "clumsy" with your words, being in a line of work where they're your most potent tool was a bad career move.

You didn't slip, Matt.  You were rocking words like "achingly" and "melancholy."  Your observation was purposeful, not haphazard.  In your mind, Kennedy's passing was reminiscent of a terrorist massacre.

Because of the weather.  And the melancholy.

Just another example of how

Just another example of how stupid Twitter is.

Speaking of how stupid Twitter is this is what one Andrew Breitbart had to say following Ted Kennedy's death.

"Rest in Chappaquiddick" (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3551156537)

"he was a f@#$er. a big ass motherf@#$er. this aint a 24-hour zone, baby. he was a bad, bad dude. & if marry jo were your kin youd be dancin'. (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552660988)

"This duplicitous bastard spit on GWB's face when he reached across party lines. Twas a grade school trick. Even til the end, he was a prick." (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552948159)

"I'll shut my mouth for Carter. That's just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement." (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3553169520)

"How dare you compare Snow & Reagan to Kennedy! Why do you grant a BULLY special status upon his death? This isnt lib v con." (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3552511234)

"I'm sorry, everyone. My Twitter account was hacked. By me. I apologize for nothing." (http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/3553060537)

At least Matt Cooper retracted what he said, Andrew Brietbart didn't.

yawn

When you get back from blasting DKos and HuffPo for their vulgar rantings against Novak and Snow (neither of whom killed anyone) you might have some moral ground to lecture some conservie.

And Breitbart isn't even affiliated with NB so....

How many times do I have to

How many times do I have to tell you I don't visit DailyKos or Huffington Post. And whatever vulgar things they said about Novak or Snow after their death was probably just as vile and over the line as what Mr. Breitbart said.

And your 100% wrong about "Brietbart isn't even affiliated with NB" scroll down the Newsbusters website and you will see "other sites" on the right hand side which links to Big Hollywood which is a Andrew Brietbart site. ( http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/).

yawn some more

Amazing how lefties never grow a sense of ethics until they see a chance to embarrass some conservie. Of course you don't visit DKos - it's just a coincidence that you sound exactly like them and relish every opportunity to bash NB.

Those are links to other interesting sites. Hardly means the staff of NB defends the content on every link.

You said the DailyKos were

You said the DailyKos were vulgar, when have I ever been vulgar? Never. As usual your not making sense. In my original comment I never said or even tried to blame or link Newsbusters to what Mr. Breitbart said on his Twitter page.

I relish every opportunity to contradict and point out the inconsistency and offer a opposing view.

So how have you been

So how have you been "Father" Baracus ?

24

can I direct you to a media bias site directed to liberals?  You can take your relish, mayo and ketchup there.  You offer very little of your own thoughts here and tend to throw up articles and a crap load of cut and paste.

I see sainthood from the left and demonizing from the right.  Where do you think the truth lies?  Instead of just trying to one-up the staff here - how about constructing something yourself.

That doesn't cut the mustard.

Yeah, I do link to different articles and videos but that is not the only thing I do. I offer my own opinions, along with support for my opinions via links and quotes. I know many on here don't like to go through all that trouble and just say what is on the tip of tongues without support or evidences for their claims.

Truth lies in evidence, whether it is scientific or first hand accounts or reports.

Isn't the staff of Newsbuster one upping the "liberal" media with their threads. I construct my own independent opinions I am no "dittohead" I don't agree with everything Keith Olbermann says in the way of Politics.

but I'll bet you agree with most of it

And incidentally, you have chosen to totally ignore the substance of this article, opting for low-hanging fruit of the "they did it too" variety.

That's very trollish behavior.

Twitter is stupid, and I

Twitter is stupid, and I don't see how it constitutes media, as in "Exposing & Combating Liberal Media Bias". How is "combating" what Matt Cooper said on his stupid twitter page not picking low-hanging fruit.

Substance and Twitter don't belong in the same sentence, paragraph or even article. It is an oxymoron, as far as I am concerned.

Whom are you quoting "they did it too" I never said that, that was not my argument. The article was about Twitter and what a member of the media said following Ted Kennedy's death. My comment was also about what a member of the media said on his Twitter page following Ted Kennedy's death.

24

you don't like it? Write your own blog entry and refute it.   Me, I would have a hard time coming up with a package of evidence to refute Mr. Breitbart's observations.  It may not be timely, its certainly not polite, but I don't think its untrue.  And I don't think this more coarse material will find its way into his news site.  I think Mr. Breitbart is professional enough not to do that.  Can you say the same about Matt Cooper and the deification?

Personally I find nothing redeeming in Twitter.  On that we are in agreement.

As to your original post in this thread - I see it exactly as attempting to one-up with a "they did it too, so neenner neeeeener on you."  It's the same thing you did with attempted backhanded slam on Sarah Palin.

You have a hard time disagreeing with that? Matt Cooper has retracted his idiotic statement after he made it, Andrew Brietbart hasn't and has continued to make distasteful "tweets." Matt Cooper obviously won't make his statement on whatever news site he works at.

My original post was to show how stupid twitter is, I did that by showing what Mr. Brietbart on his twitter page. I never said "they did it too, so neenner neeeeener on you." If your going to quote sombody then do by quoting them, not making things up.

As a wise woman once said.  "So how about, in honor of the American soldier, ya quit making things up,” how's that for a backhanded comment on Sarah Palin.

well, I never said it was polite

and since I am married to a sailor I've heard far worse.  I decline to use foul language (for the most part) myself.  But as I said, if you think its untrue, refute it.

So, The Huffington Post isn't deifying Kennedy? Amazing.

That "neener" quote was not meant to be literal.  But, arguing intent vs perception is fruitless.  You can say it wasn't your intention till you're blue in the face, but having read your previous posts I have a tough time buying it.  Have a good morning Enak.

I saw that earlier 24, have

I saw that earlier 24, have the link...

Three Cheers for Andrew Breitbart!

Mattie Cooper should have listened to him long ago, took his advice..."Doubling down on stupid is not a particulary good idea."

Obama's a Community Agitator, a walking, talking destroyer. ~ Rush Limbaugh

Thanks for the links...

Andrew had the guts to say what we were all thinking.

BTW can you refute anything Andrew wrote? Go ahead defend the vile voting record of Teddy. It will tell us a little more about you than we already know. We all have the great dirtnap coming, Teddy got his before he could do anymore damage to America.  The man was never a "Lion of the Senate", more like a Jackal!

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

ok, matt cooper wins the

ok, matt cooper wins the award for most lamest and idiot journalist ever.  we need to twit him and tell him he is an idiot.

Actually, I feel more

Actually, I feel more optimistic about this country now.  It's as if a ball and chain that's been hanging around the neck of America has finally been removed, but no thanks to the idiot voters in Mass. as it could have been done ages ago, and we would not be put in the position of being anywhere from elated to ambivalent over another person's death.

Also, I'm sure that common working men and women are mourning in their multi-acre "compounds" all across the country.

Pleeeez.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.
