Washington Post Notes 'Undocumented' Immigrant Rally, Fails to Include Critics in Story

Take three liberal policy advocates, stir into a 12-paragraph story, and strain out any dissenting voices.

That's the recipe for pushing Washington Post writer Martin Ricard's June 24 story on illegal immigrants who rallied yesterday in Washington, D.C., for a bill before Congress to make it easier for illegal immigrants to get access to financial aid for college.

In "Students Stage Mock Graduation To Advocate for Undocumented," Ricard noted "[a]lmost 400 students and their supporters" yesterday who "were drawn this year" to a mock graduation ceremony in Washington, D.C., "organized by United We Dream." Nowhere in his article did Ricard describe any of the students as "illegal immigrants," preferring instead to label them "undocumented."

Ricard failed to explain who runs or financially backs United We Dream nor did he label as liberal the pro-illegal immigrant activist group Casa de Maryland, which was "one of the local organizations that took part in the event." The Post staffer also failed to note the leftward tack of the National Council of La Raza even though he quoted that group's "director of immigration and national campaigns," Clarissa Martinez on her hopeful evaluation of the Obama administration's interest in pushing immigration reform through Congress.

"UWDDWDLIVH"

I drove past a similar demonstration outside NYC a few hours ago, but their placards identified the group as "United We Drive Drunk Without Driver's Licenses, Insurance or Vehicle Registrations."

Isn't this convenient

Isn't this convenient though?  We have the names of 400 illegal immigrants.  I suggest one of those sting ops where they tell everyone on the list to head to an address to claim their financial aid.  Then arrest them and ship 'em on out.  Damn, I should run for governor.  Anyone know of any openings?

Of course they don't have internet access, but I promise we'll mail periodic greetings!

I was actually thinking South Carolina, but thanks for the suggestion.  I'll look into it.

Calling an illegal alien an

Calling an illegal alien an undocumented immigrant is like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.

Only if he's selling pills

Only if he's selling pills and pot - you know, prescription drugs.

Likely ACORN

I doubt very much that they were all undocumented immigrants or illegal aliens, they were in all likelihood paid protesters from the ACORN Crime Syndicate. This is one of the things they do to make money, they have admitted as much. The liberal media refuses to look into these protesters, because they don't want to know the truth.

80% of US voters..

A recent poll, Rasmussen, found (unsuprisingly) that:

June 12, 2009 - Eighty percent (80%) of U.S. voters oppose providing government health care coverage for illegal immigrants as part of the health care reform package that is working its way through Congress.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 11% disagree and think coverage for illegals is a good idea.

Difficult to imagine that this 80% slice of America would feel any differently about making it easier for illegal's to obtain financial aid for public college. How long can the national media keep the views of the American people from the American people? It's important that the press speaks to the other 80% of "we the people," rather than to their little radical minority.

(;`> Gary

that's because

the 11% were either illegals themselves, children, or others whose lifestyle is supported by others, thru family money, trust funds, welfare grants, criminal behavior, or other means. Means that are not obtained by their own effort and sacrifice. It's easier to give stuff away when you haven't worked for it, and easier to give someone else's stuff away when you assume everyone got everything as easy as you did.

I don't get it

if someone can spend the time to get degrees paid for by our government, they can also spend the time to get their citizenship. These are individuals CHOOSING to commit deliberate FRAUD. There is NO excuse for being an adult and living in this country for years, receiving money and aid, for not following thru with the basic requirements and processes to gain legal citizenship.

These people have defrauded our people out of tens of thousands of dollars for years, and should be promptly arrested, and harvested for organs until their debt is paid. failing that, hard labor on work gangs rebuilding the infrastructure our country can't afford because we're paying for SCAM artists like these.

Here is a suggestion

All of those for illegals give up "their" job and "their" SSN.I cant wait to see all those illegals filling up the positions in the msm.It couldnt get any worse.

"Financial aid for

"Financial aid for college"

Why do I think that really means "free money from the government for college"?

At least with the scholarship ("scholarship"...is that irony?) athletes who can barely write more than their name on a check, they at least entertain folks...for a while anyway.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

Wapo stories

T.R. Huggins As of approximately one month ago , I deemed Washington Post as a non-entity for reliable news or opinion. Therefore any of their email I received is in kill trash. I don't litter my mind or data with useless material. Faced with fiscal and social adversity most people generally react with true feelings. It's hard to hide one's deepest convictions in the atmosphere of this "new deal" regime {DemObama}. People of integrity will rise to the occasion, while lessers will only exist as fodder for the machine disguised as "government"
