Presumably after having read NewsBusters Senior Editor Rich Noyes's January 14 blog on the matter, the hosts of "Fox & Friends" today discussed the Associated Press's double standard on presidential inauguration spending.
STEVE DOOCY: When you look back at how the mainstream media described his [George W. Bush's second] inaugural, back when he spent about $40 million on it... critics, for instance, writers at the Associated Press said, "look, we are in a time of war and we are facing all sorts of challenges." That money, four years ago, they said, should be used to armor up humvees and to protect our men and women overseas....You fast forward four years, suddenly we've forgetten all about those AP stories, where people are going, "George Bush's inauguration extravagant," now you're tripling the money. Where's the outcry?!
GRETCHEN CARLSON: Here's the amazing headline, and I think is the most blatant, bias situation that I have seen thus far. The new headline is, "For inaugural balls, go for blitz, forget economy." What?! Go for glitz, forget econ-- that's the same [news] organization that wrote four years ago, "Do we need to spend this money on what seems so extravagant?" That is blatant bias!
MRC President and NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell is scheduled to talk about the AP's bias on the Friday, January 16 "Fox & Friends." Mr. Bozell is scheduled to discuss the controversy at around 7:20 a.m.

For months all we heard
January 15, 2009 - 16:32 ET by motherbeltFor months all we heard was what could be paid for with the money going to Iraq, (not to mention the list they drew up for W's inauguration expenses), yet to these hypocrites, no amount is too much to spend to honor The Obama.
This is beyond admiration; this is venturing into Idol-worship territory.
Scary, if you ask me....
Move along,

Welcome to the era of unity, you racist!

January 15, 2009 - 16:56 ET by rimskynow you're tripling the money. Where's the outcry?!
Tripling? As in $120 Million? I would really like to throw this in the face of some of my liberal co-workers and such.. but I don't want to unless it's substantiated... not that I doubt it... I just want to be accurate. What a concept, eh?
this can't go on
January 15, 2009 - 17:01 ET by sentforth5something's gotta give...every single day there is ignored broken laws, introduced socialism, scandalous department heads, criminal cabinet members and a President-elect who is not Constitutionally able to take the Seat in the White House, anti-semitism,vote fraud, conflicts of interest...it's all hunky-dory and we're just supposed to shut up or be branded racist or hateful or WHATEVER. It is maddening and eventually something very bad is going to happen.
sentforth?????
January 15, 2009 - 17:18 ET by bassndudeWhat is it that you mean "is not Constitutionally able" to be President? To disqualify Obama on grounds of what? Citizenship? The US code clearly states if born in the borders of the USA, you are a citizen of the USA. Or if One parent is a citizen, the child is a citizen. This has all been hashed out. The same people that say Obama is not qualified are the same ones that say Mac is not qualified. (He was born in Panama, you know). If my oldest daughter was to run, I am sure you, or others, would say she is not qualified. She was born in Germany.
There are a LOT of reasons Obama should not be President, but the citizenship argument is not one of them.
Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!
My understanding is that
January 15, 2009 - 17:27 ET by SmartypantsMy understanding is that Obama still has not produced a valid birth certificate. If he was indeed born in the U.S. then this should not be a problem. I don't need someone in the Hawaii bureaucracy "confirming" that Obama was born there; I'd like to see valid documentation of this birth. So would a lot of other people I imagine.
That could be a legitiment
January 15, 2009 - 17:32 ET by bassndudeThat could be a legitiment concern, depending on the citizenship of his parents. On the other hand, his mother being a citizen, born of US citizens in the USA, it dosent matter. Not one bit. She was and he is. There are other avenues to look at, but as I said, his citizenship is not one of them. It is a non starter.

Bass
January 15, 2009 - 17:59 ET by choselife3xI heard that his mother was underage when he was born. Which meant her citizenship didn't count, just the father's. *shrug*
In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.
I also will note
January 15, 2009 - 18:05 ET by sentforth5that Dick Cheney did not ask if there were any objections after he read all the electoral votes; that is illegal and Dick is Oblahblah's cousin.
Sorry, bassndude, but there is some serious hijinks goin' on 'round here.
We THE PEOPLE don't KNOW where BARRKY was born ...
January 15, 2009 - 17:30 ET by Jayke... so how can we know he is CONSTITUTIONALLY QUALIFIED to serve as
President? There are MANY issues relating to his birth that are NOT
resolved. You need to get informed before you start spouting off at
the keyboard.
Jayke
January 15, 2009 - 17:34 ET by bassndudeYou should take you own advice. I have read the US code, you obviously have not. Seems to me one would educate himself before telling someone else to "get informed".
Word of advice to you, "grow up".
Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!
OK, bass, where was he born and how do you KNOW it?
January 15, 2009 - 17:40 ET by JaykeWhat hospital was he born in and how do you know that? Since you know so much.
Jayke
January 15, 2009 - 17:47 ET by bassndudeIt has no bearing on his citizenship. My daugher is a natural born citizen of these United States, and she was born in Germany, at a German hospital. Her parents were natural born citizens. She is a citizen of Germany, tho she has not been there in over 30 years. She is also a natural born citizen of the US. I will say this again, real slow, so you can understand.
His mother was a natural born citizen of the US, so by US code he was born a citizen of the US. Where he was born has no bearing on the matter. His mother was a citizen, so he was born a citizen. Now, unless you can come up with a document somewhere, that Obama signed renouncing his citizenship, it is a non starter.
Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!
Citizen?
January 15, 2009 - 19:17 ET by UpNorthTitle 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section
1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States
at birth:"
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as
long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for
at least five years.
That is the section dealing with people born outside the USA, of a non-citizen and a citizen.
So, the place of PEBHO's birth is relevant, and where his mother lived is, too. Since we know Daddy was a rollin stone, where did mom live for the 5 years prior to his birth, and where was he born? If it was Hawaii, produce the BC. Sorry, I don't take the governor's word on this. What does the Obamunist have to hide, and why is he hiding it? Mostly, I think, because he knows the courts have his back, because, apparently, no American has standing to know where the PEBHO was born.
Speaking of Obama's
January 15, 2009 - 22:22 ET by TN MomSpeaking of Obama's citizenship, is any U.S. city/town proclaiming to be the 'Birthplace of the 44th President'? With ALL the ObamaWorshipMania, you would think some city/town in the U. S. would want to errect a sign? I know the people of Kenya are sure proud!!!
UpNorth
January 16, 2009 - 10:12 ET by bassndudeHis mother was raised here in the US, that qualifies. His mother met his father here in the US. I think she was 17 or 18. That is well over 5 years. So, seeing as how his mother was born here and lived here during her childhood and went to school here, I think that is well within the 5 years required.
P.S.
I think you are reading the part pretaining to a child born to a "naturalized citizen".

It's up to BARRKY to come up with a document ...
January 15, 2009 - 22:51 ET by Jayke... NOT ME and the document I want to see is his LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE. I was in the military and served overseas for 10 years in a half dozen countries. One of my children was born overseas but qualifies as a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN since I met the requiremenst of devolving that status upon him. The whole point of the NBC clause is to prevent someone with divided loyalties from obtaining the office of COMMANDER IN CHIEF. There is SERIOUS doubt about BARRKY's loyalties. At the time of his birth, his father was a U.K. citizen by his Kenyan birth and this was automatically conferred to his son. His mother was not old enough to confer U.S. citizenship to him if she gave birth to him in Kenya which there is reasonable cause to believe. He was adopted by an Indonesian citizen which automatically transfers the Indonesian citizenship that he enjoyed the benefits from for a number of years. It is believed that BARRKY used an Indonesian passport in his travel to Pakistan in 1981 which was not possible to do with an American passport at the time. This is just the tip of the iceberg of BARRKY's shady past that NOBODY knows about.
Hey, Jayke!

It WILL go on until the free
January 16, 2009 - 09:13 ET by misterbee241It WILL go on until the free America we knew will be a smoking pile of ash and rubble. Because the majority of the people voted and they want it that way.
I see us like Captain Ahab, trapped aboard the Great White Whale Moby Dick with no control. We'll ride the GWW until either it or we expire because we have no choice in the matter and we have no control because the people we vote for are no longer conservatives and are certainly not accountable to us.
nothing new
January 15, 2009 - 17:12 ET by right of wayit's ashame that we have too many politically ignorant americans that don't see this double standard. well folks get used to it, we are going to see more of the same for the next four years.
Bravo Fox and Friends
January 15, 2009 - 17:26 ET by Travis NoodleIndeed, the bias is nothing new. It has gotten disgustingly sweet as the inauguration nears.
However, I give kudos to F&F for speaking up.
I am personally BOYCOTTING the BARRKY CORONATION ...
January 15, 2009 - 17:47 ET by Jayke... because he is NOT CONSTITUTIONALLY QUALIFIED to serve. I live in the DC area and it PAINS me to watch the local news. I can't do it. I hope the whole thing FLOPS BIG TIME. I hope he stutters and stammers and ducks behind the podium with his tail tucked.
Here's what the Daily Record
January 15, 2009 - 18:33 ET by QueenMumHere's what the Daily Record in the U.K. has to say. Wasn't sure whether to convert to British currency or Euros. Either way, we're talking $130,000,000 - $140,000,000 or thereabouts. I guess we can chalk it up to the cost of affirmative action. Or perhaps we can consider it restitution. After all, we all know that George W. Bush held slaves. And what about the victims of Hurrican Katrina? Shouldn't BHO consider making up for Pres. Bush's "failure" to help the citizens of New Orleans? Or at least send the high-priced entertainment on tap for the Inaugural festivities to New Orleans to cheer those folks up.
Nice to see you again QM
January 15, 2009 - 19:16 ET by general companyWe dont want Obamas entertainment down here, our local stuff is far better.
Hope you start making frequent visits again.

I personally do not care how
January 15, 2009 - 23:05 ET by brerolI personally do not care how much the Democrat Party is going to spend on the inauguration festivities. It's there money. Spend away. I do though demand that our media be consistent with their work. If they were doing there job they would be out in the streets questioning those who questioned the amount of money Bush & Co. spent on the 2004 inauguration. The question of course is whether or not Obama & Co. are spending to much on their inauguration celebration.
thanks a lot lefties

January 16, 2009 - 09:09 ET by misterbee241This is just more preaching to the choir. The people who really need to know and realize this demonize Fox news and wont watch it. Truth is anathema to them.
