Finally: a news network that made Gov. Eliot Spitzer's party affiliation clear. Chances are you've never heard of it, however.
During live coverage of Spitzer's resignation announcement, Washington, D.C.-area News Channel 8 informed viewers of Spitzer's party affiliation in an on-screen graphic reading "Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D) NEW YORK." (see screen grab at right)
NewsChannel 8 is carried on D.C.-area cable systems and is owned along with ABC affiliate WJLA by the Allbritton Communications Company.

March 12, 2008 - 12:28 ET by Chris NormanI just checked CNN.com for the resignation story. No mention of Spitzer's party affiliation - must be an oversight.

March 12, 2008 - 12:44 ET by JerChris...I wonder why on CNN just a few minutes ago, Blitzer was having a discussion about the degree to which Patterson would be more or less liberal than Spitzer. Must have been an oversight.

Spitzer and Blitzer...sounds like a couple of Santa's reindeer.

March 12, 2008 - 12:58 ET by Chris NormanGeez, "Jer", I don't know. I was talking about CNN.com. I also don't know why you think your comments to the contrary somehow overturn the detailed and documented research done by the NewsBusters and MRC staff. Then again, you know so much more than they do, huh?

Please don't pull that stunt
March 12, 2008 - 13:24 ET by Chris NormanPlease don't pull that stunt with me. You have been all over the place the last couple of days commenting on how it was easy to see that Spitzer is a Democrat. To suggest anything else would be disingenuous. I don't do disingenuous.
No stunts...If you would
March 12, 2008 - 19:14 ET by JerNo stunts...If you would like for me to show you where you can find Spitzer's party affiliation at CNN.com, I'll be happy to show you.

March 12, 2008 - 19:37 ET by Chris NormanNo, thank you. It should've been in the main story, in the first few sentences. One shouldn't need a shovel, a mining helmet, and you to find the reference.

March 12, 2008 - 12:58 ET by bigtimerWell it is nice that a local small DC network showed the party affiliation for a democrat....
The hypocrisy is and always has been obvious in television and print with stating the party who the person they are talking about belongs to if the person is in some kind of trouble, if you don't see the party affiliation you can usually figure that the person involved has to be a democrat if you are politically savvy, the msm just counts on most people assuming that the person must be a big bad repub if they don't mention the fact.
Kind of like...Don't Ask, we won't tell.
There she is again...
March 12, 2008 - 14:00 ET by PrairieSkyThere's Silda Spitzer standing next to her idiot husband AGAIN! As sorry as I am for her and her daughters, I also think she is a doormat to continue to be seen on camera with him. I can't imagine what she must be thinking to keep doing that. After being so publicly humiliated by that lying jerk, doesn't she have any self-respect???
PS... Do not think of her
March 12, 2008 - 14:13 ET by bigtimerPS...
Do not think of her as a doormat...PLEASE.
She knows exactly what she is doing...she didn't even want him to resign...she likes the power and so-called prestige the circles they ran in now will be gone...for awhile anyway.
Nobody is holding a gun to her head.
I do feel for the daughters of course in this situation, but not the mom...not one iota.
Of course self-respect is something people like her throw out the window in favor of political power and circles she wanted to be included in....aspirations of climbing the ladder even further have been pulled out from her now.
Boo-Hoo.
bt...You may be right...
March 12, 2008 - 14:33 ET by PrairieSkyThat is the only rational reason I can even imagine for why she would continue to "stand by him", as it were. I've never thought that someone was holding a gun to her head, which is why I haven't been able to understand her continued apparent "support" of her husband. I couldn't believe it when I heard that she didn't want him to resign...Knowing that, you are likely correct about her trading her self-respect for wanting to continue to hang on to the social and political cache that she has enjoyed in the social circles she is used to traveling in. Nothing else makes any real sense.

The Clintons did more damage to this country than any other family in history.

Bulls-Eye!
I did originally have Hillary comparison included in above post but decided to take it out as I felt I had gone on enough and have used her in comparison elsewhere in the last few days...
....thanks is all I want to say, you said it well for me here.
