"How would you like to get the terrorists' perspective on tonight's State of the Union address?" asks Red State's Erick Erickson, noting the prime real estate -- "just three to four steps away from the House Democratic Whip's Office"-- that the al Jazeera network is getting to cover the State of the Union and the corresponding Democratic response tonight.

I Don't Get It
January 28, 2008 - 17:27 ET by NoMoreClintonsIt always amazes me how Jews keep voting for democrats. Can't they see that they favor muslims over them? Wake up, people.
It would appear to me that Democrats favor just about anyone...

January 28, 2008 - 17:34 ET by bigtimerDeplorable, disgusting, despicable and disgraceful.
Then you don't understand Jews or democrats.
February 10, 2008 - 13:14 ET by jschw10I wanted to respond to this the day it was written, but this amateurish website (that actually bothers to discuss inane comments made by Joy Behar, as though that matters) took 10 days to approve my membership. I suspect it will take 10 minutes to cancel it after this is posted. But I have to make three points in response to your moronic comment.
1. Your "amazement" is most surely arising from a profound lack of knowledge or understanding about Jews and their values. Firstly, it repulses me and most other Jews when idiots like you would try and define us as a people based on our "enemies." I use quotes because the enemies are not muslims per se, but extremist islamic groups and dysfunctional Arab governments that foment anti-Israelism and anti-semitisim as a way to deflect attention from their own shortcomings, namely a failure to bring any semblence of prosperity, development, and education to their people. Jews - in Israel, in the US, Europe, and elsewhere - know that we are far too dynamice, proud, intelligent, and accomplished as a people to be defined singularly (for political actiion purposes) by the "muslims" and their actions.
2. Jews do tend to vote for democrats - true enough. Perhaps 70-80% of us are regisstered Dems, though I have not seen very recent stats on this. Why? Though jews are extremely diverse - indeed we come from all corners of the world representing all races and ethnicities - the religion of Judaism emphasis education, undertstanding, charity, justice and "world repair." In the parlance of our religion, these concepts are best characterized by the Old Testament and Talmudic concepts of Tikkun Olam ("repairing the world) and Tzedakah (charity/justice). Unlike other religions, who dwell on the notion that acceptance of divine beings guarantees your ticket to paradise in the afterlife (viz, Christianity), Judaism stresses the notion that all things good and evil are human in nature, and that therefore human beings actually matter in this realm (forget heaven for the moment...there is work to be done in THIS WORLD) and therefore we work hard to achieve social justice. This is reflected in our history as Americans, as jews have always been active in labor movements, charity, scientific advancements, medice, law, and entertainment.
Much of modern manifestation of Tikkun Olam centers on issues of social justce - we have an obligations to repair the world through social justice for all. That includes Muslims. I would remind you that the "golden age" of jewish scholarship occurred in Medeival Spain, when that country was under Muslim Rule. There is nothing in history or religion or current events that says Jews and Muslims must hate each other. Indeed I - and my jewish friends and family - have many muslim friends. I repeat that the issue - as McCain and other intelligent conservatives (and democrats) are able to articulate - is extreme jihadist muslime entities and the governments that tolerate and support them, not the entire muslim world. If you are so troubled by the jews continuing support for democrats, you must utterly perplexed by the hundreds of jewish attorneys representing GITMO detainees. Terrorists deserve the ultimate punishment. But the innocent deserve their freedom.
Democrats are the party that most closely understands and practices these Jewish values. Amazing to you, perfectly natural to a Jew.
3. Al Jazeera was given the same press access under GOP congressional rule as under current Democratic rule, because that it was the 1st Am. guarantees. Even at the Exectuve Branch, which is still under GOP control, Al JAzeera has full press facilities and access. My goodness, Al Jazeera has penetrated the Pentagon!!! So the Dems did nothing special for Al Jazeera, at all. But congratulations (to this idiotic website) for making a news item out of nothing. Moreover, the "Al Jazeera" that covers most US politics is the Al Jazeera English outfit, not the Qautari ARab-language network. Perhaps shockingly to you, I know many jews who work for Al Jazeera English. Even with regard to the Arab language network, which is decidedly anti-west in its reporting, did you know that it is among the most popular news organizations in Israel!?!?! Anti-west or not, Al Jazeera is the only non-state-owned, non-censored news outlet in the arab world. It is therefore the only network that responsibly gives access to opposing viewpoints, including hosting many Israeli government officials. If the U.S. were smarter (or were led by smarter leaders than the current President Shit-for-Brains), we would offer to ahve U.S. officials appear on Al JAzeera every damn day. It would be the best way to reach out to the Arab world and to counter the anti-west bias that comes through in their reporting. Here, learn something about it:

Lastly, I would urge you to not speak up on behalf of me and my people. Even if you happen to be a fellow Jew, which I doubt, you're shitty one. So assuming you're not, I am here to tell you that we'll continue to make our own voting decisions base on our own values and what is best for America. GF.

February 10, 2008 - 13:45 ET byactually we seek opposing views here, i'd hate to see you leave due to your amateurish put-downs and foul language.
Also i am not a jew but your I would urge you to not speak up on behalf of me and my people. Even if you happen to be a fellow Jew, totally smacks of censorship and hypocrasy.
Perhaps we may one day be able to dialogue on Tikkun Olam and the politics of enabling as employed by liberals and how the enabling is actually harmful to it's victems.

jschw10, get off your high horse.
February 10, 2008 - 22:59 ET by R D HelmBelieve it or not, the Jewish people have far more friends at this "amateurish" website than you might think, and for reasons that most likely transcend your comprehension.
The question your rather rudely-worded comment is in response to is a very legitimate one, as it is a question many of us have asked over the years.
Indeed I ...have many muslim friends.
So do I. I also have Jewish friends as well. Most of them are firearm owners and members of JFPO (including my personal physician of fifteen years) and I doubt very seriously any of them have ever voted for a democrat. You see, they are aware of their history as well, and have no intention of sitting idly on their hands, as did their European ancestors, and allowing it to be repeated.
Perhaps shockingly to you, I know many jews who work for Al Jazeera English
Yes, and I know that there were many self-loathing Jews who worked for the Hitlerites, too. Two of my familial ancestors were but two of the 3 million+ Christians who died at the hands of the Hitlerite horde.
Given the significance of the year 1948 as it relates to the Old Testament (I am sure someone as learned as you is familiar with it, aren't you?), its significance for the future of the Jewish people (not to mention Christians), as well as the related events that many here firmly believe will soon engulf this entire planet, you might want to consider that before you come in here and start throwing insults around again. It may very well come to pass, possibly within your lifetime, that Christians could very well be the only earthly friends the Jewish people have left.
As for your assertion that we non-Jews should refrain from commenting on Jewish issues, I will say only this: As long as my government continues to see fit to confiscate part of my income and send it over to Israel to support and defend that nation, I will reserve my God-given, 1st Amendment right to say anything I wish.
Got it?
And we here understand democrats just fine, thank you.

If the Dims keep playing favorites like this, the folks from Moveon are going to notice and slap them around with scathing articles that bash Bush.

January 28, 2008 - 18:00 ET by c5thenThat the "correspondents" from Al Jezeera will be given 'special' concideration by the security detail tonight. If not, it might be VERY important which cabinet member is absent for this State of the Union address.
