From MyDamnChannel.com comes a gem: Katie Couric yukking it up with CBS News production staff off-the-air on primary election night in New Hampshire. (Warning: There is some profanity in the video).
Some of my favorites 1) Couric admitting she doesn't know much about Huckabee 2) Couric talking about how she thinks she creeped out Cindy McCain because she couldn't stop staring at her eyes. 3) "I'm always like oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t" 4) "Give me one interesting exit poll, please!" 6) "Oh sh*t, I have seven seconds. [shrieks]"
You can't expect Couric to exude gravitas every single moment she's off-air but on-camera, but something tells me she's be perfect for a sequel to "Anchorman" if the Ron Burgundy character were played by a woman.

January 15, 2008 - 17:40 ET by Lame CherryThe buzz is this just didn't get out, but was produced to get a "like girly" sympathy as Crockatears Hillary soared in the polls.
If Hillary tearing gets good results, Perky figured being a foul mouthed snorting girl would be sure to please the same Oprah frumpers........and watch Perky instead of that mean ole man shows.
Just wonderful we live in a world where a woman anchor being profane does not get her fired, but publicity in how girly she is.
But this proves EXACTLY what I blogged here, if you want profane, bigotry, anti semites and racism.......just tune into an off the record cocktail gabble of liberals.
Change the S word to the F word and you have Hillary.....she though would be creeping out that N world Obama in staring daggers at him.

change
January 15, 2008 - 20:14 ET by reland1Is it me?...or have I heard the word "change" and "change agents" at least 40 zillion times in the past few weeks? Does anyone remember where the phrase "change agent" originated? The first time I heard it was when the "Goals 2000 for America" began being pushed through the schools in 1992...the "change agents" were teachers taught to propagandize our children.. or did it really all began with Cecil Rhodes, Carroll Quigley and their "intellectual equals"?
The 60's hippy types have been educating our kids for about 25 to 30 years now. Hey, I'm not dissing the '60's....I don't remember too much...but I was there...sort of. The "changlings" are all grown up now....uhoh
Anyway, it is absolutely chilling that the target groups (K4-5, 1st thru 6th graders) are the children that may elect our '08 Pres. We are in deep doodoo!

January 15, 2008 - 19:44 ET by WoodyMI can't stand Couric, but this video really wasn't very bad. Putting up mild stuff like this tends to pull down the more serious concerns about the liberal media.
control
January 15, 2008 - 19:59 ET by OklahomaIsShapedFunnyWhat I take from this is the amount of control of how the "news" is "told" that Couric has. She seems to choose what of the stack of reports gets airtime.... she chooses what's "important", what questions are asked to guests.
I always kind of figured as much.. but this is very revealing.
The ones who tell us of no bias, only objective reporting of the facts are just made even stupider by some video like this.
What I took out of this
January 15, 2008 - 22:36 ET by Cape Conservativeis how totally IGNORANT (and biased) she is! Simply reading what is put in front of her, of course with her "take" on it so she can let us "the unwashed masses" understand what she just read! What a total airhead!
And I think if someone were able to cut a few clips here and there we'd almost have a "I'm so pretty" moment ala John Edwards. She was so into flipping her gorgeous mane ;-)
Having never watched CBS (other than when Rush was on at the very beginning) I don't know how bad/good she is...but I do read the ratings, and they aren't good!

She's a news reader
January 16, 2008 - 13:17 ET by celatorThe Brits call their anchors "news presenters" or "news readers", which is what they really are. Couric does no (or virtually no) original reporting. She is not a journalist. She is a face, a talking head, a chin wagger, a news reader.
The MSM would have us accept the illusion--which they promote incessantly--that their anchors are hard charging editor/reporters on a Diogenes-like search for the truth. That's baloney, and we are on to their game.
Ask Dan Rather.

"Broadcast News" Raw
January 16, 2008 - 00:26 ET by Intellectual HonestyThese are just some thought I posted on the subject on another forum:
Katie is not a complete lightweight in regards to HOW she appears - she did Today for years so she has more broadcast time than others combined. But if you ever saw the movie "Broadcast News" she comes across as the William Hurt character - attractive and on-camera savy but lacking the most basic knowledge of the subjects they are reporting on.
When she said, "Can't I say "dramatic" Pentagon papers? Can't we make it more "dramatic?" that was such an illuminating moment that shows the power an anchor has. A single word such as "dramatic" places a completly different emphasis on the story. I'm not even saying it is a wrong characterization - I'm just saying it illustrates the power of a word and the power of the position Couric occupies that has the last say in whether it is inserted/used or not.
I also think it is a fair expectation that the anchor goes in with a basic sense of the story they are going to cover live. The up-to-the-minute data of course she needs to be fed but that aside I dare say (while throwing-up in my mouth) that Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw and, yes, even Dan Rather would have been relatively up to speed on the general story.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
January 16, 2008 - 08:58 ET by TrelainaI watched this yesterday when Drudge linked to it -- from the still shot it looks like you'll see something *interesting*.
Instead I spent somewhere between 5-10 minutes watching an airhead CBS news anchor show clearly that news anchors don't actually have to know anything about the NEWS of the day.
That's 10 minutes I will never get back.
