Newsweek's "Conventional Wisdom" column is a weekly window into the leftist soul of the editors at the weekly magazine. This week's CW is no different, as it insults the GOP conservative base as "nativist" while boosting Sen. John McCain, disses conservative Fred Thompson, lauds Hillary Clinton's "blood, sweat and tears" win in New Hampshire:

And I believe in large measure because the Iraqi government, they watch us, they listen to us. I know very well that they follow everything that I say. (And no doubt she thinks the rest of the world does also). And my commitment to begin withdrawing our troops in January of 2009 is a big factor, as it is with Senator Obama, Senator Edwards, those of us on the Democratic side.

Newsweek John McCain and Global Warming Scare Tactics
January 14, 2008 - 11:29 ET by Daniel BakerThree Peas in a Pod. Do you know that these Global Warming activists have just added 6,000 dollars to the cost of every car? They have already raised the price of fuel and food and now cars!!!
Great point...
January 14, 2008 - 11:39 ET by reasonsjesterGlobal warming is a scam by socialists to collapse capitalist economies. Hasn't everyone noticed, in addition to food, fuel and car cost increases, that the MSM jumps on every chance they can to "create" a recession? In these Fabian socialists' minds, after every crisis in the economy the federal government has an opportunity to expand its power. Global warming is a way to increase government regulation and control, tax rich countries to pay to poor (dysfunctional) ones (with UN apparently skimming the top), and decrease industrial production (particularly in the U.S., which has been deindustrializing since the 70s, and which reduced CO2 emissions in 2006, which no other major country did). Good post, and I concur completely.

January 14, 2008 - 15:56 ET by reasonsjesterIts nice to know there are a few other people on this planet who aren't clinically insane. Wait, if everyone else is insane, and me and a few others are sane, does that make us clinically insane? Kudos to Nietszche for the fine mess we're in!

Shameless, per usual
January 14, 2008 - 11:32 ET by reasonsjesterAs usual, this Newsweek column is a case of the MSM attempting to create the news instead of report it. Do news outlets like Newsweek not understand that a great majority of readers do not turn to their publication because they want to read "Support Hillary Clinton weekly"? I guess we are well passed conflict of interest concerns for these publications and into outright agit-prop. I find these kind of so-called "objective" columns by leftwingers absolutely disgusting.

Pinocchio
January 14, 2008 - 12:01 ET by iveseenitallNewsweek and the rest of the "liberal" media are the Pinocchio story all over again. Follow the "liberals" like B.O., Hillary, and Johnboy and you'll quickly find yourself in the famous wooden kid's predicament. But the lure of the left is strong (witness B.O. mania). It's easy to be a "liberal". B.O.'s "unity", lollipops and candy. Hillary's Christmas "gifts" await all who vote for her, by golly. And that "man" in the N.C. mansion; he's got a tuckload for you. Just ask and you will receive. What a sight---two pretty boys and a cackling witch, and all the colors of the rainbow! Yessiree--come one, come all to the show of shows!

great comparison
January 14, 2008 - 12:52 ET by fonzie2178It's true that the leftists want to brainwash all of us, then whisk us away to their made up paradise, Pleasure Island where they can turn us all into jackasses to be sold as slave labor. Then all the money we make working can be given to all the slobs who want to sit around and do nothing with their lives. Perfect communist world for the liberals!

January 14, 2008 - 18:11 ET by Scout FinchActually, Kucinich is considered quite handsome on his planet. It's only when he's amongst us humans here on Earth that he looks so strange.
